Evening all!

Starting next week's thread now as I"m off to bed shortly.

Here's the SoF

Last week's thread - after the trolling - ended up a little quiet, so I hope people weren't scared off. It's always good advice to ignore the trolls! But also, if you have been lurking, please come out from the shadows and tell us how you're getting on!

This week is the last where we're doing a hybrid (you are, aren't you?), so Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light, if you want, at the weekend.

I realise that as we get nearer to Christmas, and there is more and more stuff in the media about Christmas cooking, that it is more challenging. But hold fast, and you will only benefit!

Good luck to us all Flowers

@Dellabob123 that looks lush.

Looks lovely and I agree about remoulade, by the way.

It’s basically a coleslaw made with variations, but I think a celeriac remoulade lifts the flavours in itself, and with other dishes.

I used to make it often, am now inspired to make it again because it’s been a long time. Thanks, Dellabob et al...

Oh, and it’s not even 8pm in the UK—still time for some WATER WATER WATER

Dellabob123 · 26/11/2021 20:02

The humble celeriac- its bloody amazing.

Go for it @ShagMeRiggins
I’m going to have my leftovers with a big tuna salad tomorrow. I think I would have preferred a bit more lemon to mine as it was quite rich.

In the first photo (when they’re looking at each other), I love her back-combing or hair wedge that gives the lift. It’s reminiscent of the 60s style but done in a modern way. Absolutely fabulous.

Hope she has/had a wonderful evening.

BelladiMamma · 27/11/2021 13:04

Just dropping in to say hi. Covid or something similar (have had VIth negative and positive tests) hit the house so have tried to stick to the WOE but no weight loss to report. Still stubbornly sticking to 67kgs!!

Wildheartsease · 27/11/2021 14:54

Well done for sticking to it @BelladiMamma. Hope you are not feeling too bad.

Wildheartsease · 27/11/2021 14:55

@Andi2020 Lovely pictures!

KeyLimePies · 27/11/2021 18:35

Just caught up with the thread, some nice looking food pics on here, the (not) Gruyère & shallot tart looks lush @BIWI.

Work’s been busy this week so I haven’t had time to be perusing MN. I work at a large university and everyone seems to try and get those piddling jobs off their desks (and on to my team) before the Christmas break - it’s no doubt the same at a lot of other places.

Breakthroughs this week are threefold:

  1. My belt is down another notch 💪
  2. I’m only hungry twice a day, if that 👍
  3. I’ve just got under the 160lb mark (159.8), which I’m hoping will be still true on Monday morning 🤞

Shoulder of lamb is on offer in Tesco this week (if you have a club card) so this week I’ve had slow roasted lamb with veg and roasted celeriac, and tonight had leftovers with roasted aubergine & mozzarella - both lovely.

Aderyn21 · 27/11/2021 19:07

Found this in Waitrose- it’s hard to get hold of (my local store only seems to get a couple of loaves at a time), but if you find it, it’s definitely worth a buy.
It tastes like the seriously low carb company bread but is £1.55! Much more affordable.

Thanks @Aderyn21 I'll be scouring the shelves of Waitrose every time I get there...

I'm in the midst of a crazy schedule so I've not been posting much - but reading and nodding and empathising and cheering....

Wedding anniversary tomorrow so we're going out for Sunday lunch (is it too rude if I say meat and 2 veg for me? Grin Blush ) That's a halfway stop on our trip to the north west. Well have an overnight in our campervan (hardy Scots doing this in November), then arrive for lunch with friends. Same in reverse a couple of days later.

That is immediately followed by the double jab of flu and covid booster, then dinner out with friends.

Then a wee lay down to recover for a few days. But interestingly, the recovery these days is not from too much booze or a massive excess of sugar and carbs. Most of the time will be close to bc (the friends we are visiting have their own specific dietary restrictions so well accommodate whatever I want, and the dinner out is with another lchf person) - so it's just the combined consequences of getting a bit too old for all this trotting around, and the unaccustomedness of it all after the past 20 months.

H1Drangea · 28/11/2021 09:24

Went out for dinner at a friends house last night , lovely coq au vin with broccoli and asparagus , followed by cheese ( no biscuits for me )
Too much wine though
Weather is better , so will hopefully get a walk in this afternoon
Roast pork tonight , with FLGV a and lots of water

StuntNun · 28/11/2021 10:04

Happy wedding anniversary @venusandmars enjoy your special lunch. It's mine today as well but we're heading to the Science Museum for a kids birthday party so rather less enjoyable.

venusandmars · 28/11/2021 10:08

Happy anniversary to you too @StuntNun Flowers

Jollyholibobs · 28/11/2021 10:15

Lovely photo of your DD @Andi2020. How lovely to see young people getting a bit of normal socialising.

I think I have previously got that bread from Ocado too but perhaps only when they were aligned with Waitrose.

Received a lovely veg box this morning. It’s got a kohl rabi in it and a mooli radish. I’m thinking they will go in my coleslaw but would welcome any ideas.

Planning day out with DS and his GF. Going to a National Trust property. Lovely sunny day. Will probably have lunch there very much doubt that it will have any low carb offerings. I plan to just extend my 16:8 for a couple more hours unless there is some soup or salad on offer. It’s a better strategy than feeling compelled to eat for the sake of it.

D -pan fried sea bass with ginger and lime. Choy Sum in sesame oil, cabbage noodles for me and egg noodles for the others.

Water, Water and more water.

Have a great day everyone.

Jollyholibobs · 28/11/2021 10:16

Oh and happy anniversaries @venusandmars and @StuntNun. Flowers

missfliss · 28/11/2021 15:40

Hello!
It's my birthday weekend and aside from one glass of Prosecco and a ketonut I've been able to be pretty much stay on this WOE.

There is a fortnight of parties (3) and celebrations coming up.

What is weird is that my appetite has died. I'm not eating till about 1 pm even if up at 5:45 am ( I go sea swimming before work). I am having to remind myself to eat in the daytime - evenings I am hungry but daytime not at all!

BIWI · 28/11/2021 17:46

Happy anniversaries @StuntNun and @venusandmars!

And happy birthday @missfliss.

The lack of appetite isn't weird! It's one of the key benefits of this WOE. It's a really good sign as it means your blood sugar levels and your hormones are well balanced.

OP posts:
prettybird · 28/11/2021 18:21

On this WoE I can easily fast if I want to for over c36 hours. It just proves how much of our eating is due to habit rather than true hunger. Shock

mrshoho · 28/11/2021 18:26

I agree the lack of appetite is quite liberating! This only ever happens to me on this WOE. Being able to walk past sweets and chocolate and not even be tempted is truly wonderful! I also don't feel hungry until around 2pm.

ShagMeRiggins · 28/11/2021 21:09

Happy anniversaries and birthday and sounds like most are staying well on track.

I went out to dinner last night (erm, in Le Touquet) and so pleased we came home this evening, avoiding latest safety precautions put in place with Omicron variant. Plus we accidentally hit all the “Black Friday” sales in France so I came home with all my Christmas presents at thieves’ prices:

Perfect gold hoop earrings
A cross body bag that is perfect for me
Tan ankle boots with funky bling and pockets!
Cream platform trainers
Chocolate-coloured wide-legged jeans
Gorgeous, elegant knee-high boots

Keep in mind all these items had been on my long-term shopping list of things I need (not want), and it was a very successful day!

Food also perfect:

Lunch - mussels in Roquefort sauce
Dinner - oysters then scallops meunière (a sauce that is classic and popular but that I won’t rush back to), with sautéed endives and the world’s tiniest carrot, plus salad

Lunch today - (we had planned to go to local market but it didn’t happen so ended up at Cité Europe in Calais) was at the world’s least-appetisingly-named restaurant, Flunch. This was before we realised there was a massive food court at the end of the mall. Never mind, I had a steak hacheée, steamed cauliflower, roasted peppers & broccoli, and green beans in butter. Inelegant, mass-catered, tasty, and absolutely LCHF.

We drank all the WATER WATER WATER yesterday, and loads today as well, and I’m not going to mention alcohol intake other than to say I stuck to clean spirits or white wine, didn’t get drunk, and had a nearly perfect 36 hours and feeling very committed for the final Bootcamp push.
