Morning all.

Sorry for the late posting this morning. I had a bad night but managed eventually to get to sleep and have only just woken up!

As ever, here's the link to the spreadsheet

The plan for this week is as for last week, i.e. strict Bootcamp during the week but relaxing into Bootcamp Light at the weekend (if you wish).

Hopefully by now it's becoming more of a habit to eat this way, and the urge to snack has receded, and you're finding that you're no longer hungry between meals.

And channelling @ShagMeRiggins, I hope you're remembering the WATER, WATER, WATER! As well as all the fat Grin

Here's to a good week for us all Flowers

I suppose so ... Grin

... as long as you promise me you'll be back to strict Bootcamp after that!

That book looks interesting @KeyLimePies.

If anyone else is interested, if you click on the link, and then do the 'look inside' thing, you can read the first couple of chapters for free.

Please can I join? I will have to start tomorrow as I have already had branfllakes and a pizza bun thing, and tea will be lasagne. I have IBS and wheat more than once a day seems to make it worse, so low carb should be doubly helpful for me. I was doing the Why We Eat (Too Much) book and thread but right now need something a bit more compatible with convenient meals and not being in charge of shopping and cooking.

fitflopqueen · 09/11/2021 14:34

I am up a pound this week, and yes, not enough water and some indulgences. Yesterday bought some crisps - first time in months - and yes they are still my downfall.

Had a long walk this morning, fasted til lunch of boiled eggs in a mug with butter and a bowl of celery soup with a dribble of cream. Have the large water jug out to ensure 2Litres & any tea/coffee.
Marinating some lamb steaks in oil/garlic/lemon and herbs for dinner - will have loads of greens on the side. (will freeze the remaining 2/3 of tarte tatin made by my mum at w/end)

Noavocado · 09/11/2021 14:53

My Mum just dropped round the Holland and Barratt carb free pasta. Plus side its only 9calories per 100g. Downside it was an Experience to indure 100g of it.
Think slime with a crunch [grin
Il let others review their experiences...

TrueGrit54 · 09/11/2021 14:57

fitflopqueen your food sounds delicious, I am the only person I know who likes celery. My Dad used to make it with a simple white sauce.

I am trying something new tonight, tray baked Greek pork. Spent a couple of hours cleaning our green egg (bbq thing), if anyone is ever tempted to get one they are brilliant.

Zero123 · 09/11/2021 15:07
@prettybird thanks I've landed in Cup in Merchant City Virginia Street and it's definitely a 'naice' cafe rather than greasy spoon so I'll report back! Very happy to swap my hash brown and toast for some halloumi though so all looking good so far!
Cafe Gandolfi is lovely on Albion Street if you get another morning off.

JunieSpoony · 09/11/2021 15:18

Should I post my SW (197lb) here or add myself to the spreadsheet?

Noavocado · 09/11/2021 15:34

TrueGrit54 thank you for your sore throat remedy Flowers

To those looking forward to the no carb pasta, sorry about my review and I could be completely wrong, others might love it.
Apparently there are different types, I only tried the penne. There is also no carb rice too.

fitflopqueen · 09/11/2021 16:34

TrueGrit54, I do prefer my celery cooked ie soup or braised, have to have a shedload of peanut butter or cheese otherwise. Thinking it’s diuretic properties will help shift lard in coming days, also love leeks braised, soups or a creamy sauce.

Wildheartsease · 09/11/2021 16:53

I enjoyed 'Kwaffles' today for breakfast - with some well grilled bacon.

1 beaten egg
cup of finely grated cheese.
salt and pepper.

Heated the mini waffle maker - sprinkled on 1/4 of the cheese.
pour on half the egg.
season
sprinkle on another 1/4 of the cheese.
shut waffle maker and cook for 3-4 mins (until cheese is crispy and egg cooked)
A lovely crunchy texture :)

ShagMeRiggins · 09/11/2021 17:41

@Noavocado

Hi everyone, so my pcr test came back positive. Had a little moan but decided to use the time wisely and make some of the wonderful recipes on here. Online shop done and looking forward to making the cheeseburger pie late Does anyone have any tips for sore throat remedies? My go to is honey and lemon.
I’ve always been a fan of hot (warm) water with salt, gargled, for a sore throat. It was my Mémée’s thing and sometimes the old wives’ tales prove effective.

I imagine it’s like any inflammation, so something sugar-based might feel soothing but not helping.

ShagMeRiggins · 09/11/2021 17:49

@Glenthebattleostrich

bit scared to ask *@BIWI* but ...

Tomorrow is DH birthday. He ALWAYS has cheesecake as his birthday cake. I have found a low carb version, using almond flour base and erytherol sweetener. Can I do my light days on Wednesday and Saturday instead of 2 in a row?

Otherwise I am being good! Sticking to plan nicely.

Well if he ALWAYS has cheesecake on his birthday, then HE can! No one is stopping HIM! HE hasn’t signed up to Bootcamp, has HE?!

Bless you, Glen, but you’re basically asking BIWI for permission.

Thank about what you want and what’s right/best for you. Make your decisions accordingly.

I don’t know if anyone else knows this, but BIWI isn’t our mother. We are not toddlers. She is not responsible for what we put in our mouths.

ShagMeRiggins · 09/11/2021 17:51

Sorry, Glen, I know how insensitive that sounded. To be honest, I’m currently a bit pissed off with my 17-year-old and have taken it out on you.

The Green Egg is a big thing at our (very good) farm shop and I’ve always wondered about them. Never made it to any of the demo evenings, but curious as to what sets them apart?
Frenchpoodle · 09/11/2021 18:00

Down 2lbs this week, 6lbs in all - chuffed with that. Chicken and courgette fajitas for tea, with sour cream and loads of jalapeños

Noavocado · 09/11/2021 18:17

Thanks ShagMeRiggins the gargling has commenced. Thanks to boot camp I have plenty of salt in the house!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 09/11/2021 18:40

Wrote out a post earlier and the app crashed and I lost it...

Trying to stick to the rulez carefully this week and avoid the big stick after the 1st 2 weeks had some meals out as of no loss last week - a small gain.

Whoever recommended keeping boiled eggs in the fridge - you saved me from bad snacks today. Instead of dark chocolate or almond butter straight out the jar, I cooked a batch of eggs this morning and it's great the way one hard boiled egg can deal with the urge to snack!

ZiggZagg · 09/11/2021 19:39

I must post a picture of my fabulous dinner!

It's Ragz Dirty Fries but I grilled the cheese until crispy 😋😋😋

I would like to say I shared with someone but I didn't and I have zero regrets Grin

Incidentally, @prettybird I have always wanted to visit Glasgow! I have family in Edinburgh so tend to visit there but definitely putting Glasgow on my list! Apparently Glaswegians are very like Scousers so I'm sure it would be fun!

Week 4 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp
Nutsaremynemesis · 09/11/2021 21:05

Hope all those suffering from Covid are feeling better :-)

I was back at my start weight yesterday morning, big sad. I’ve been following the rules and drinking all the water but I’m really bloated. I’m 5 weeks into HRT and it’s really affecting my weight. DH says it’s like there’s a balloon in my belly and I can go from svelte (ish) to pregnant belly / hip tits in a few hours! My fingers puff up too. Apparently it takes 3 months to get used to HRT so I will keep on but bloody hell it’s disheartening.

For those who are missing pasta, I personally far prefer this

www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/explore-cuisine-organic-gluten-free-edamame-mung-bean-fettuccine-6002184

To the Konjac noodle stuff. It has a good chewiness about it and is perfect for a quick pasta and pesto lunch fix. Add a few buttery mushrooms and some cream and you’re golden. I think you can also get them in ASDA but I’ve not got one near me so I’ve never tried. They are expensive but there are 4 good portions in a box and they are dried so you can just shove them in the cupboard like normal pasta once you’ve opened them.

@ShagMeRiggins your “ounce of Italian” comment made me snort my creamy coffee through my nose. You’re a comedy genius.

FusionChefGeoff · 09/11/2021 21:57

@prettybird @StuntNun @Zero123
I can very happily recommend Cup for breakfast it was incredible and the best decaf coffee I've ever had!

I've got another later start tomorrow but am hoping I can either catch up on sleep or run!

Katsu curry and potatoes for crew dinner but I got double chicken and moved spuds to one side. Decided the breadcrumbs would have to be a concession as it was that or nothing as I hadn't brought any back up.

Back up purchased tonight so will have a lovely tuna Nicoise in the fridge if needed tomorrow.

Another 10k steps so definitely burning it off!

Aderyn21 · 09/11/2021 22:20

Just a reminder to anyone buying the konjac noodles/pasta, that you have to rinse it a lot before cooking, otherwise it’s slimy and fish like.

Moanranger · 09/11/2021 22:23

Today’s challenge was a work-related exhibition that ended with a cream tea, that I was approaching with great trepidation. Awful drive, endless roadworks, drizzle.
I needn’t have worried re tea. Exhibition vaguely interesting, but the “tea” venue was a charmless municipal dining room, so I had little difficulty in making my apologies & slipping away early. Total intake was black coffee. I had a substantial breakfast of omelette, a bit of cheddar, half an avocado & 2 rashers of bacon. Lots of water on drive & kept me going until dinner.
Heck 97% sausages, broccoli & cauliflower mash, much enlivened with butter & cream cheese.
All is well in LC Land Smile

BIWI · 09/11/2021 22:26

Well done @Moanranger!
