Summer Low Carb Mini Bootcamp - week 6

Oneborneverydecade · 06/09/2021 07:38

Morning and welcome to week 6 - our final week! Hopefully we'll see some great loses this week.

If you need a quick reminder of the light rules @stuntnun kindly included them in the week 5 thread.

I'm hopeful that with my kids back at school today I'll find it easier to focus (although I'm dreading the school run).

Please let this work, if not you know the intention was there :-)

The link does work though. Wink

BestIsWest · 06/09/2021 08:20

Morning. Thanks for the new thread.

venusandmars · 06/09/2021 08:30

Thanks for running this bootcamp @StuntNun and @Oneborneverydecade I've not been able to join in as much as usual but I'll be around in the ongoing threads and back again for the October camp.

Just had avocado, tomato and cheese for breakfast, sitting on a cliff watching dolphins (or porpoises?) in the sea.

ditavonteesed · 06/09/2021 08:46

@venusandmars that sounds heavenly.
Thanks for the new thread. I'm happy to report a 2lb loss this week. Really happy with how things have gone since I refound my focus. I shall be keeping on until the next boot camp. My intention is to continue for the rest of the year and then hopefully I'll be at maintenance although I still haven't decided what my actual goal is. I've passsed my original goal but I don't feel like I'm quite there yet.

pinknsparkly · 06/09/2021 08:52

Morning all, when will the next bootcamp start? Having only lost 2lb in 2 weeks, I definitely need to join the next one Grin

For those who asked on the previous thread, I've got my Hb1Ac results - 42 mmol/mol. When I was diagnosed as pre diabetic prior to pregnancy, it was 44, and down to 36 last year (12 weeks after I gave birth, having followed a strict gestational diabetes diet for the last 24 weeks of my pregnancy). From what I've read online, normal would be 41 or lower, with the pre-diabetic range being 42 - 47, so I'm not too far off!

Your morning sounds devine @venusandmars

pinknsparkly · 06/09/2021 08:53

That should have said 0.2lb in two weeks.... 2lb, I'd be happy with!

Dellabob123 · 06/09/2021 09:02

That sounds like my kind of morning @venusandmars

I think I’m going to claim 2lb this week as I’m still down after eating carrots and my 6 week stall.

ouchmyfeet · 06/09/2021 10:45

Thanks for the new thread StuntNun, I too am pinning all my hopes on being able to get back into the groove once the final kid goes back to school tomorrow. I think it's probably due to three periods of isolation in the last half term, but I honestly feel like they have been off school for about 6 months rather than weeks. I think we are all craving a return to routine and normality.

Meals planned out for the next few days. Creamy coffee this morning should hopefully see me through to lunch.

Andi2020 · 06/09/2021 11:09

Forgot to weigh this morning.
Well done to those who lost or in maintenance

prettybird · 06/09/2021 14:27

Made a lovely coffee creme brûlée last night, adapting it from a "standard" crene brûlée recipe using erythritol and incline instead and adding some espresso coffee. Will need to try to remember what I did and add it to the desserts thread Smile

pinknsparkly · 06/09/2021 15:02

Today has been my first attempt at intermittent fasting whilst working from home (I've only tried it on office days up to now!). After an early dinner last night at 5.30 (so we could eat with our daughter, as we try to do at the weekends), I wanted to get through to lunchtime but at 10.30am had to make myself some scrambled eggs as my stomach was heavily protesting despite the 1.5l of water I'd drunk by then to stave off the complaints Grin. I've just had half an avocado now, and will be making chicken and asparagus with creamy cauliflower mash for dinner. I've downloaded a fasting app as I know I'll never remember when I last ate otherwise!

Kerplunkk · 06/09/2021 15:42

Can’t believe this boot camp is about to end! Already looking forward to the next one, I underestimated how great it is to have the support!

Kerplunkk · 06/09/2021 15:44

However I have lost 8lbs this bootcamp which is huge for me and took me into a new stone bracket, I already feel so much healthier and despite the scales not being quite where I’d like them to be yet I’m pleased with the change made with this woe so thank you for all the advice and threads so far Smile

BestIsWest · 06/09/2021 17:40

No change in the waist measurement again but I upped the water and fat over the weekend so hope that will make a difference. It’s very frustrating. I’ve lost 4 inches in total from my hips, loads off my bust, shoulders and arms, I can see a visible difference in my calves and thighs but the waist won’t budge. Not giving up though.

Dellabob123 · 06/09/2021 17:56

What will we do when this boot camp ends? I’m on week 11 now and it’s been a godsend for motivation.

Is everyone going to keep at it because this is me for life low and it’s great sharing experiences.

Dellabob123 · 06/09/2021 17:58

@BestIsWest Well done on the inch loss! I lost 6 inches all over in first two weeks and then another 2 off thighs last week- my week 10.
I’m still eating the same but maybe I’ll have carrots with my roast dinner and I’m still feeling amazing and losing slowly!

BestIsWest · 06/09/2021 18:17

@Dellabob123 thanks, it’s taken since the April boot camp to lose that but I always lose weight slowly ( and gain it fast).

recreationalcalpol · 06/09/2021 19:10

Hello team. 1lb off this week! It was my husband’s birthday on Saturday and my birthday and my 3 year old’s birthday today, so I will be having a slice of cake but otherwise sticking to a low carb lifestyle. The fear of type 2 diabetes is real Grin

MIL gave me some lovely truffles for my birthday but I have swapped them with my teetotal husband, who was given a bottle of champagne for his. Good deal I’d say!

StuntNun · 06/09/2021 19:20

Pinknsparkly I use the Life app for fasting. I find it very motivating.

Dellabob there will be another Bootcamp starting in October for the run up to Christmas.

Dellabob123 · 06/09/2021 19:32

@StuntNun oh no, that’s ages awayShock

How am I going to keep this up without support from the group???

prettybird · 06/09/2021 19:45

Support continues on these threads between boot camps Thanks

You can't get out of it that easily Grin

StuntNun · 06/09/2021 19:54

Yes we keep posting in between Bootcamps. Most people stay on Bootcamp Light and then often go back to strict Bootcamp for the first two weeks of each Bootcamp before continuing on with Bootcamp Light again.

FusionChefGeoff · 06/09/2021 23:06

Hey! DH is locked in the bedroom with our scales in the en-suite but I think that's a good thing as I very much feel as if I have gained recently.

I've been on plan since we got back from hols but have had to stop running and was doing a lot of boredom eating as we were isolating. Plus I just feel bigger in general Sad.

However, I've been able to stay happy about the quality of food I'm eating and not really tempted to go off plan - I definitely want to keep this as the way I eat now but find it hard to be strict enough to lose significantly now I've accepted it as forever if that makes sense???

Maybe I need to try a 2 weeks strict 2 weeks maintenance approach?? I can do 2 weeks without muffins / rolls / dark choc but not much longer and then when I do introduce them all I'm bad for having everything!!

Had a v nice brunch today - scrambled eggs, avocado and couple of cherry toms with a big dollop of cream cheese and lots of black pepper.

Then chicken salad for tea with hm coleslaw and 2 squares of Lindt 85%

I think I'll stay light until end of isolation then might do my own mini 2 week blast!!!

ditavonteesed · 07/09/2021 05:43

@Dellabob123 we are all still around between boot camps. I will defiantly be carrying on till Christmas.

Can I ask ladies of a certain age a question, is constant rage a menapause thing? I literally wake up mad at the world and I've always been a kind of ray of sunshine sort of person. It's starting to annoy me, it took me till after dinner yesterday to shake the rage. I would normally go for a long walk or something but it was too hot which just made me madder.
