Summer Low Carb mini-Bootcamp - week 1

Welcome to the 2021 Summer Low Carb mini-Bootcamp lasting for the next six weeks and run by myself and @Oneborneverydecade. If you're an old hand at eating low carb then please do chip in with your experiences to help motivate our newbies. Every Monday is weigh-in day and you can log your weight on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness to keep track of your progress. If you can't add your weight for any reason then please post it on here and someone will add you to the spreadsheet.

Make sure you've read the ten Low Carb Bootcamp rules on the preparation thread either for strict Bootcamp or Bootcamp Light depending on which one you choose. There are also some meal ideas and shopping suggestions on the preparation thread if you need some tips. As always, if you have any questions or concerns then please do ask. We have lots of experience between us.

A quick reminder of the rules for strict Bootcamp (first two weeks):

  1. Eat three meals a day (plus snacks if hungry)
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Eat plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nut/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

And for Bootcamp Light:

  1. Eat when you are hungry
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Eat plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. Alcohol is allowed occasionally
  8. Up to one portion of (low carb) fruit per day
  9. Nut and seeds in small quantities
10. No sugar except dark chocolate, and limit artificial sweeteners

Decent day today:

B: scrambled eggs with mushrooms and creamy coffee
L: salad with bacon, chicken, parmesan and Mayo
D: homemade burgers with coleslaw and salad

I've drunk so much water I'm sloshing.

That cauliflower cheese recipe sounds lovely!

I had a good day I think, considering I was at a BBQ.
B- Greek yogurt
L/D loads of salad with 1 burger, 1 sausage and about 6 chicken and veg skewers. One small slice of the LC cheesecake I made yesterday.

Not all entirely BC, but the best I could do without being rude to my family who provided all the food. I took the skewers and the cheesecake so I know they are low carb (the skewers are properly BC, the cheesecake BC lite), and I was told that the sausages and burgers were "good quality from the butcher's", no more detail than that, but at least I didn't have the bread buns. And I politely refused all the other cakes and puddings on the grounds of being too full.

I had two vegan options at the rock festival today, either chips or veggie paella.
I ate before we left home around lunchtime but I couldn’t go 8 hours without anything else to eat so I had half a small paella which wasn’t even very nice 😩 Got home about 11pm tonight and just had some broccoli soup as I’m starving. Will have to make up for it tomorrow

Morning everyone! I’ve weighed today although I started on a Tuesday and this was my week 3. I’ve stayed the same (although will check tomorrow as the scales did show a 1lb loss earlier in the week). I’ve lost 7lbs since I started so very happy with that!

Will KOKO and fingers crossed for a loss again soon.

Morning all. Week one loss of 8.3lbs for me which I'm thrilled with, but I do have a shitload to lose so trying to keep it in perspective.

Gained 0.6lb this week so a little disappointing. Possibly too much cheese. Will KOKO and hope to lose some next weigh in.

PrettyBird thanks for that tip! Will on my next roast. I did just have a sneaky check on the scales and it looks like I haven’t lost this week but I always seems to weigh less in the mornings so will check tomorrow morning and hope for the best!
@Kerplunkk there's no point weighing during the day - all you're doing is weighing yourself plus what you've had to eat/drink! Only ever weigh first thing in the morning - naked* and after you've been to the loo

*unless you're weighing at Boots

Lost 0.5lb this week. All good. I’m trying to shift my last stone now, so I guess it’s going to be slower going than when I had 3 stone to lose!
