@Oneborneverydecade and I are running a mini-Bootcamp starting on Monday 2nd August. This will be a six-week Bootcamp ending on Sunday 12th September. You can choose to start with two weeks of strict Bootcamp, or stick with Bootcamp Light for the whole six weeks. The Low Carb Bootcamp rules are here if you want to know more.

@BIWI will be around to offer support but we're giving her a break by handling the starting of threads and the spreadsheet side of things. We'll also be chatting about how to eat while you're on holiday so don't feel that you can't sign up because you've got a week away this summer.

If you want to join in then sign up by cut and pasting the list below and adding your name to the end. If you don't want your weight to be recorded on the spreadsheet then put NO SPREADSHEET after your name.

Welcome back, @JimHairy I remember you. Congratulations on the baby - what a journey you've had! If you aren't currently following a low carb approach then your blood glucose is going to drop pretty quickly right from day one. Do you have a glucose meter so that you can track your blood glucose levels? You will almost certainly need to adjust your metformin dosage but this should be done under the guidance of your doctor. The good news is that metformin shouldn't make your blood glucose dip dangerously low (which could happen if you were taking insulin) when you go low carb.

@FusionChefGeoff, I think you should join the mini-Bootcamp and maybe commit to Bootcamp Light for the whole six weeks. I suspect there won't be much chat on the old thread once the new Bootcamp starts.

@ouchmyfeet I'll PM you about setting up the spreadsheet. I have received expert instruction from Athelstane who usually coordinates the spreadsheet. Don't forget to tell people not to touch the blue cells! Wink

Thanks @StuntNun I’ve put a form in at the GP to speak to someone this week.

I’m starting LC from today rather than waiting until we officially start. Today I had a coffee with cream for breakfast and then fat soup Grin which is basically cauliflower, cream, butter and cheese and it’s the best. Dinner is stir fry veggies and salmon once the tiny person is in bed.

One other development since last time is that DH has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so he’s also eating pretty low carb, although still has a few potatoes and some brown rice now and again.

Hi all, thanks @StuntNun and @Oneborneverydecade for this. As someone said up post, the summer bar is open and I’ve been buying all the rounds Blush

Hardly eating anything either as so bloody hot here, but lots of chilled vino being consumed. Weight still dropping but despite having sat at 80.5kg for over a week on three separate occasions I just cannot drop into the 70-somethings. It will be SO monumental if it happens. I just need to exercise enough control on the wine front.

Onwards…

I'm following the Fast 800 plan but it went a bit wrong today when I ate all four portions of the pesto bean salad.

Peppered pork stir fry for tea. Then finished off the last of last night's apple strudel.

I did do 2 x 30 min You Tube workouts though. I've done 15, 532 steps today and burned 429 calories.

Tomorrow is another day.....

Not sure exactly how this will pan out as I'm doing lots of camping / festivals (woo
Hoo!) which will mean that sometimes even with the best will in the world im going to have to make some compromises.

But I know what my 'average' weight seems to be settled at now (considerably lower than usual thanks to this!!) and although I'd hope to whoosh a bit more of that off in the Xmas
Bootcamp, my aim is to maintain until hols are over then possibly ditch a couple of extra pounds right at the end!

I'm following the Fast 800 plan but it went a bit wrong today when I ate all four portions of the pesto bean salad.

This is exactly why the 800 and I parted company. I wouldn't have done the exercise either. I need that big stick it seems Wink

I can't keep up with the busy fast paced threads so won't ask to be on the spreadsheet.
But there's been so much great advice on here, 6 years ago I adopted the bootcamp lite woe, combined with c25k, free weights and HIIT, and lost a whopping 4 stone.
I got out of the habit, gained 10 very flabby pounds. I'm easing myself back in by cutting the obvious sugars, so no chocolate, biscuits etc.
I'm going to dip in and out and cheer you all on from the sidelines.

Just to be clear though - Bootcamp is very different from the Fast800. I assume you know this, but just in case ... !

We don't allow things like beans, or desserts like apple strudel.

Exercise is lovely, (for some!), but not necessary/compulsory.

And we certainly don't count calories!

Well, losing your appetite is one of the key benefits of low carbing! Can't really see how that's a problem, if you're wanting to lose weight?

If you were exhausted, then it sounds like you were eating the wrong things. Were you trying to make it low fat as well as low carb? This is a high fat way of eating, and it's the fat that will give you energy.

Can I ask, also, how long you tried it for? It can take a couple of weeks to setting into it - you're getting your body to change the way it deals with food, so you're switching from burning carbs to burning fat - and in that period of time you don't always feel 100%.

You definitely need to drop the wine! Apart from the carbs, you're also adding calories to your day. I know we don't count them, but it doesn't mean that too many won't have an impact on your weight - especially when they're pretty much empty calories, as wine is. Yes, I know it's delicious but that's beside the point!

If you're drinking, how about switching to a spirit with sparkling water? One of my summer favourites is a golden rum (Mount Gay Eclipse is my favourite) with a chopped lime, lots of ice and sparkling water.

Morning all - I made it through day one! DH has taken a week off to allow me to feel crappy this week while I go through keto flu so he’s here to take the baby when I’m struggling and also to help me keep on track.

No signs of side effects yet, just need to remember to drink drink drink. Plan for today:

Cream coffee
Cauliflower cheese soup
?

I’ve got olives and chorizo to snack on if needed although I know from experience I tend not to snack on low carb. Good to have a plan though in case of midnight munchies.

I’ve put a mini fridge in the baby’s room and put some bits in it because he’s up for a couple of hours in the night at the moment and I’m finding I’m getting hungry whilst settling him. At least now I can snack Grin

Sorry to sound bossy, and please feel free to ignore me, but can the posters who are not doing this woe fully just be very kind and not post any of the biscuits bread etc that they've eaten. And ideally calories as well. Just in case they are doing it partially rather than fully. I'll fade away into the background now thank you

I've not joined a boot camp before but have followed them silently from the side. I am exactly 1 year post baby (like JimHairy, I also credit her partly to low(ish) carb). I have some baby weight to lose, but mostly I want to join as we're planning to start trying for BabyPink2 soon.
