Morning campers

As ever, here is the spreadsheet

So we start the second half of this Bootcamp.

I sense that things are quietening down a little on the threads, but I hope that doesn't reflect commitment and progress?

It's interesting to hear the chat about maintenance, and very positive that people are starting to realise that it might not be long before they have reached that stage.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit more positive @FusionChefGeoff

@NigellaAwesom - your cloakroom looks lovely. Love the need to provide for the cat as well Grin

@Moonswimmer and @venusandmars - sailing sounds, to me, like a week/weekend from hell! I'd rather do an SAS outward bound course than be stuck on a tiny boat worrying about how I might go to the loo!

@StuntNun - very impressed that you could just get up and run 2K without training for it! I've completed my C25K so I'm running now for 30 minutes at a time, but I know that I'm nowhere near 5K yet, and it took 9 weeks to reach this stage!

Very envious of you @Andi2020 - wish we were near a beach somewhere.

@ElasticFirecrackers those cheese things sound lovely. What kind of cheese is Maasdam?

@ListenLinda - what do you have in your fridge/freezer/cupboards? We can try and do some kind of 'ready steady cook' for you! Tonight we're going to have a stir-fry, with pork tenderloin and either egg-fried cauliflower rice, or a sort-of pho, using Bare Naked Noodles.

@BSky I'm afraid it's inevitable that too much wine won't help. Bloating is generally dealt with by drinking more water, but I'm sorry that you're having issues with that. If it doesn't resolve itself soon, and you're still having the abdominal ache, I'd get that checked out with your GP. Just to be on the safe side.

Busy next few days here - we're having our Christmas this weekend! Off to pick up SIL from Cardiff and BIL from Bath (DH's brother and sister) and bring them back to us - along with DS2 who will come and join us. So lots of prep work to do to keep us all fed and entertained.

Presents are under the 'tree'; all the beds now have Christmas bedding and we have a couple of Christmas candle ornaments on the mantlepiece as well as little stash of Christmas loo paper in the bathrooms Grin

(Oh, and plenty of Champagne and fizz in the fridge)

Just checking in, v happy as have lost 8 pounds in total.

I am in the same back injury, horrible childbirth gang as many pp, also an ex rower and yogi (the yoga caused the serious back injury Confused) and now am pilates major fan, my core is so much stronger than it ever was.

That said, @MrsKoala I am evangelical about this amazing French teacher Julie who does a special six week programme to retrain pelvic floor and core after births (i mean it can be years after births!), her programme is very breathing focussed and amazing. She puts a lot of exercises on Instagram if you want to see her style.

www.ourfitfamilylife.com/

Also love pilates with katya on youtube, very clean and specific.

@Andi2020 I am also in NI, also trying to count and figure in my head what the English school year corresponds to here!

@venusandmars I am just going back to sailing as an adult hopefully, haven’t sailed since I was 14! So jealous of your beautiful trip, we can see the outlines of some of the islands from some places in NI but not as far north as Oban I don’t think.

Also sometimes I put tinned tuna and maybe black olives in the tinned ratatouille which works out well.

L will be lamb ragu which I lazily made by bucking half a leg of lamb, two tins of ratatouille, one of mutti pizza sauce, one of tomatoes and some garden herbs into the instant pot and heating on high pressure for one hour. I left overnight and then shredded the lamb into the tomatoey sauce. Yum, and made loads, the others had with pasta and I had with courgettes, mushrooms and a large dollop of crème fraîche.

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 20/05/2021 09:38

@Andi2020 sorry that was meant to be ‘ALWAYS trying to count’ not also, flipping autocorrect... in case you were like ‘when was I trying to figure out the English years?’

Bestbees · 20/05/2021 09:44

@Thinnerlikeachickendinner I think yoga was what caused my bad back too! Well hamstring injuries resulting in back pain. I did a bit of pilates years ago, but might try and get into a class now things are opening up.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 20/05/2021 09:48

Wouldn't it be lovely to have a meet? We're all at different ends of the country I think, but it would be nice. What a nice thing to say @venusandmars Thanks

@FusionChefGeoff knowing is not half the battle: that's a fallacy. I know I sound like some sort of cult recruiter, but do look at the WOOP technique for dealing with cravings. It's marvellous!

Never been able to do a cartwheel or a handstand . I shall do Winnie-the-Pooh-style toe-touches.

KOKO here.

I think the fruit loaf I've been making with the lonjevity flour is bloating me. Maybe it's just the insulin, but I'm going to sit and work out the carb count. It's so delicious, so maybe it's too good to be true.

Rayna37 · 20/05/2021 10:36

Popping in to confess I did not in fact do any yoga last night. Gardening and phone calls took up my evening.

Weighing in now because I'm off to a restaurant early evening hoping toddler DS hasn't gone too feral then away for 10 days so it'll be a good couple of weeks if not 4 before I'm back to today's low of 125lbs. Essentially it's taken me 5 weeks of BC to reach this which is the top end of my maintenance weight range. Goal is 119lbs (8 and a half stone).

Renpho scales have me at 124lbs with a metabolic age two years younger, all markers green except subcutaneous fat; I suspect I may still be amber there even at my goal weight but will be interested to see how it goes.

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 20/05/2021 10:39

I think there was a while where the mantra was all STRETCH MORE OPEN MORE! apparently a lot of women have the injury in sustained (sacro iliac joint dysfunction) because the unmodified poses are not ideal for women’s slightly different-to-male pelvis.

Which is why pilates just seems so brilliant.

TheHoover · 20/05/2021 10:56

Thinner my friend with a french husband and MIL told me that support in retraining pelvic floor and core is a standard part post-natal care in France. They think we are a nation of unbalanced, pot-bellied pant-pissers.

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 20/05/2021 11:30

Yes my friend who lives in france tells me this too, also in the very funny French Children Dont Throw Food.

So outraged on all our behalves that this standard of care isn’t available for all of us!

Andi2020 · 20/05/2021 12:54

@Thinnerlikeachickendinner I will also have a wee look at the pilates link you posted.

I live in Roi on border kids done primary in Roi and secondary in Ni
England I think start secondary in Y7
So their Y11 are GCSE.
Have you Gcse or Alevel teenagers
My 3 are y8 y11 y13 so next year it will be Gcse and Alevel all exams in one year.

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 20/05/2021 13:11

Oh how interesting that they went to schools both sides! Mine are still very wee, P1 and P4, but when I was trying to explain the education system to DH (who is American) I kept getting confused.

StuntNun · 20/05/2021 13:49

England primary is Reception then years 1-6.
NI primary is P1-P7.
England secondary is years 7-13.
NI secondary is years 7-14.
So add one to the England school year to get the Northern Ireland school year.

This caused terrible confusion when we moved from Northern Ireland and England and the different cut offs for the school year meant that DS2 went from P5 to year 6. Nobody here could work out that it meant he had missed out a year.

StuntNun · 20/05/2021 13:50

Crap that should be Northern Ireland secondary is years 8-14.

Stokey · 20/05/2021 15:57

@nowlook thank you - SLC bread & rolls on its way!

cheeseisthebest · 20/05/2021 17:04

I recommend the low carb bread and rolls, really nice and filling.

nowlook · 20/05/2021 17:26

Well done on your loss @Thinnerlikeachickendinner!

Sluggish today because I didn't get enough water yesterday. Makes such a difference.

Still, I have a new (to me) car! It's all shiny and not full of crap yet. It bollocks me when I don't drive in between the lines. Today it said I should "resume control of the vehicle and pay attention to the road" Grin

Moonswimmer · 20/05/2021 19:00

B: hot buttery rhubarb
L: thai green chicken curry
D: beef burger and oily salad

I am RAVENOUS today. It’s been a real struggle not to defrost the delicious cakes in the freezer (slices from special occasions that I froze to wait for the end of bootcamp, rather than eating at the time). Why am I so hungry? Why are the scales not moving? Argh!

ListenLinda · 20/05/2021 20:05

I think I am going to order the Renpho scales. DH may moan a bit about the cost, maybe I just don’t tell him 😂
Food has been good today,
Breakfast at desk of greek yog. Cheese egg muffins salad and coleslaw for lunch, chicken curry and a whole broccoli for tea.
Been a snacky twat this week even though I know I don’t need them!

nowlook · 20/05/2021 20:26

It's the weather @Moonswimmer and @ListenLinda. Bloody depressing.

I'm so sluggish that I can't be arsed to find the remote to turn the telly on. That's a new level of lazy!

Anyway, in chicken week, I had a chicken breast stuffed with boursin and leeks and wrapped in naice bacon with creamy mushrooms. Was very simple and lush. Switch up your babybel for boursin and you're laughing @ditavonteesed!

MrsKoala · 20/05/2021 20:38

@Thinnerlikeachickendinner thank you so much - I will check that out. my pelvic floor is not great. I can do the quick pulses but I can't hold for longer than 5 seconds. After ds1 I was double incontinent for 3 months and I got 2 Physio appointments and that was it. After 6 months I was told by a (female) Dr that I had to start having sex again as it wasn't fair on my H regardless of how painful it was. All they seemed to care about was me having sex with 'poor' H rather than my longterm health or happiness. Then carrying 2 more whoppers didn't make it any better!

So pissed off today as got a letter from the paeds team saying as the school hadn't completed all the forms the referral for ds2 was now closed and we need to start the whole process again for another referral. School adamant they did it all. Paeds saying it's irrelevant now as he's not on the system anymore and school need to refer him again. School saying they don't have time. Me screaming inside.

Nice food tho. Yogurt, blueberries and chopped nuts. 2 large mushrooms stuffed with tuna and topped with emmenthal, served with thyme roasted tomatoes. Nicoise salad sans spuds. a couple of chunks of 85% choc.

ElasticFirecracker · 20/05/2021 21:25

Have been starving today. I don't know if it's because I've done quite a lot of exercise this week including 3hr 10 mins cardio lawn mowing which my Garmin says burned 793 calories.

Feeling a bit clearer headed today which is a bonus.

Today's food.

Breakfast: grilled cheese & ham sandwiches (slices of cheese with Serrano ham between & toasted)

Greek yoghurt with Lucius.

Lunch: home made chicken leek & celery soup. 2 slices cold roast beef w cream cheese.
Yoghurt.

Dinner
Green beans w Caesar dressing. Pork slice. Roast aubergine mushroom onion & courgette. Yoghurt.

Exercise: swim 700 metres

Looking forward to restarting Pilates on Sunday.

Tomorrow am going to the gym to see if I can run 5k very slowly. I have to stop if my knee collapses. I've been trying to increase the distance without putting strain on my knee. I'm up to 3.17 km. But really want to do Park Run when it starts in June.

cheeseisthebest · 20/05/2021 21:58

What is lucius?

SittingontheSidelines · 20/05/2021 22:01

Just come on to log my food. I forgot yesterday but I kept to it. Today
Almond milk latte. Coffee with cream
An unpleasant cheese salad, I can make a perfectly lovely salad but couldn't be bothered and for various reasons ended up with a seriously not good lunch. I then felt I deserved something good for dinner like fish and chips. However I gave myself a swift talking to, pulled myself together and had haloumi, tomatoes, avocado and an oily dressing instead, which was also good. (Though I'm sure I've eaten too much cheese today).

ElasticFirecracker · 20/05/2021 22:13

@cheeseisthebest

What is lucius?
Oops I meant Lucuma.
venusandmars · 20/05/2021 22:36

@venusandmars a snow angel sounds like an excellent 'entry level' for the challenge so well done, you're in!!* That sounds great. My exercise programme is probably limited to 4 or 5 times a year!

@FusionChefGeoff I'm relying late to this post so may well give contrary advice, but on the higher carb or higher fat option, I'd always go with the higher fat choice. Firstly it will make you feel fuller for longer. Secondly it will keep your carb count lower (so you can have more carbs from other choices - cabbage, spinach, broccoli). Thirdly it might keep you away from the "oh just another strawberry, just a small spoon of ice-cream, ok a tiny bit of chocolate cake".

@Rayna37 I think that gardening and phone calls = yoga (nature + movement + bending and stretching + connection with other humans)

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch Ooh just imagine the Great Big Bootcamp Barbeque... all our favourite fatty meats, great sides. No buns. No potatoes. No Beer. No marshmallows.

@MrsKoala that all sounds so crap. Nothing helpful or useful to offer but just letting you know I heard your cry.

I had a lovely day - a wedding in the morning (with my dc and dh as witnesses) in a remote outdoor ruined castle. Just glorious - the setting, the emotion and intention, and the weather. Then dc came for lunch, inside the house!! Allowed at last!

B - coffee with cream
L - avocado, tomato, mozzarella; smoked salmon, cream cheese, spinach and courgetti (or spaghetti for the others); rhubarb fool
D - green veg soup

venusandmars · 20/05/2021 22:40

@ElasticFirecracker

Lucuma? I'm none the wiser...
