Well done for sticking with us for four weeks! You are fat-adapted now and getting the full health benefits of this way of eating. Add your weight to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and let's see how everyone has done. Don't forget that it's typical for weight loss to pause at some point in weeks 3-5 but so long as you are following the rules you are still losing fat!

I know a few of you have been missing meals, whether by accident or design, so I'd like to start talking about intermittent fasting this week if anyone is interested? It's completely optional so don't feel that you should fast if you don't want to. I still think it's worth finding out more about intermittent fasting, how it works, when and why you might want to introduce it, and what it feels like to fast... spoiler alert it doesn't involve feeling hungry!

ohhh, doilook that does sound scary! how's he feeling now?

Rshard · 06/02/2020 19:21

Blaming my WiFi for the multiple messages, first one didn’t seem to have posted.

I’m loving it too housetornado, much easier than I thought it would be

DiscontentedWoman · 06/02/2020 19:31

I'm on hrt for peri. I am finding my mood is better and more stable over the last few weeks of this woe. I'm just about to start the progesterone for this cycle which should knock me out at night.

Harveywoo · 06/02/2020 19:43

@AthelstaneTheUnready Well done you, sounds like you work with an absolute turd! @brassicababe I’m in on that hug, just turned 48 and very obviously perimenopausal (v infrequent but heavy periods and I want to kill all the people all of the time), it’s brought me a markedly more bloated tum but to be fair I was hugely overweight long before Blush
There was an unfortunate food snaccident on a night out last night (my first since starting this so rather cross with myself) that I’ve been trying to making up for by being strictly bootcamp today
B: 2 boiled eggs and butter
L: salmon, coleslaw and salad
Snack slice of double Gloucester
D: roast chicken, oodles of crispy skin, buttered swede and red cabbage
May have some ff yoghurt in a mo

ShagMeRiggins · 06/02/2020 20:02

Aaaah...

ShagMeRiggins · 06/02/2020 20:07

“snaccident”—well, if you’re gonna cheat, being funny about it can help Grin

More seriously, for those suspecting perimenopause, please see a GP if you haven’t already. Just to talk through options and expectations.

I’ve posted about this before, but really really wish I’d done that instead of just thinking “yay, no more periods.”

MrsBertBibby · 06/02/2020 20:08

I'm 51 but I have no idea about menopause as I'm still on the POP. I finally asked my older sister and hers was at 49, and she really suffered, so I guess I will have to come off the pill and see what happens. Scary stuff. Putting it off till Spring.

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 20:15

"kill all the people all of the time" Hahaha that's sooo me too Harvey. DH comes in from work, says hello and I'm irritated by the Hello Grin

I think I'm of a mind for HRT Discontented. It's just finding the time to do the research and finding the right clinician. I've read about the prophylactic effects of taking HRT early in the process too, protecting bone density etc. I think I read that in some European countries they prescribe HRT as a matter of routine.

Sat here fighting the fuckits a little. But there's no point in moaning about gains all week then making the situation worse by sabotage. (Also the wine is not in the fridge on purpose. And I'm not cheating with warm wine!)

DiscontentedWoman · 06/02/2020 20:23

I do gel oestrogen and utrogestan vaginally Wink with the blessing of my GP (unlicensed to do it that way for HRT in the UK, but fine in IVF and also all over Europe). I think if its good enough for the French madams then it's assez bon for me. Taking the progesterone orally gave me PMT on steroids

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/02/2020 20:48

yep, harvey, killing all the people. especially the ones that breathe. or move. or speak to me. never really understood the phrase 'red mist' before Blush

Doilooklikeatourist · 06/02/2020 21:03

@Athelstane , he’s ok , feels worn out ( as I do ) as we were both awake On and off from about 3 am
I think he just got up too quickly , and went from a nice warm bed to a decidedly chilly ensuite ( naked ) and it was too much a temperature change
It’s worried him and me all day , but hope we’ll have a better night tonight ✅

DiscontentedWoman · 06/02/2020 21:54

@03Doilooklikeatourist did he have a wee then faint? It happened that way to a friend of mine and his GP said it was his BP dropping quickly from emptying a full bladder - essentially it wasn't anything really concerning in the end, albeit bloody scary (and mildly funny afterwards when he related the story of waking up in the floor of the gents at work)

DiscontentedWoman · 06/02/2020 21:58

...with his for her hanging out of his trousers!! Grin

DiscontentedWoman · 06/02/2020 22:00

todger TODGER* FFS
Fucking twatting autocucumber

Almahart · 06/02/2020 22:18

Love the snaccident

Not feeling especially angry. In fact I’m quite cheerful now that H and I are separating but am absolutely all over the place with my organisational skills. Toffee for brains

ShagMeRiggins · 07/02/2020 00:15

Almahart sounds like your separation is going...well? That’s good it seemed to be sad but generally congenial, which I suppose is all one could ask for. Flowers

Now about this lack of organisational skills...do tell...Hmm

ShagMeRiggins · 07/02/2020 00:22

DiscontentedWoman I have a crush on your “autocucumber”. I always assume it’s yet another autocorrect, and I wonder how that came about.

For me, y’all, this has been a miserable week. I’m really struggling with the school-refusing 14-year-old at the moment—he’s such a clever little fecker he really gives me a run for my money (and I’m reasonably clever myself).

This board has been my Go To place to ground me, and remind me. It also helped that I had a friend for an Emergency Coffee (it’s a real thing when it comes down to mental health) and her words were “Eat. You’re no good to yourself or anyone else if you’re not nourished.”

Wise woman.

Summery1 · 07/02/2020 00:52

I loved reading everyone's posts! They are giving me food ideas as well as motivation.
I've been in wicked form as well today, but I got out for exercise and I'm meeting a friend tomorrow (totally agree @ShagMe on the MH - and I hope things calm with your teenager) for coffee.

I've just had my first good(ish) food day so happy with that. Bring on tomorrow.

1Wildheartsease · 07/02/2020 01:00

What is the menopause like?
I've been busy and haven't really noticed mine ...except

  • no visits from Aunt Flo for exactly a year :)
  • in recent years : many sudden 'debates' with my teenage son -ones that lasted well into the night and made all the rest of the family find important missions in distant rooms
  • During the same years I seem to have become a magnet to infuriating fools and am suffering fool-fatigue. They are everywhere! (God must love simple people; he made so very many of them)
  • sometimes, for no reason, I feel as if my skin has been lightly rubbed with chilli - all over. It isn't at all unpleasant and doesn't last long but it is really odd.
  • Though I always used to be cold at night, I've taken to sleeping with a foot out of the covers . I draw it in when chilly and move out to join it in the air when hot. This is now so normal that I don't wake up.
  • My memory is terrible but (it is hard to be sure) I think it always has been.
:) I am 56
Rshard · 07/02/2020 05:58

I could do with an autocucumber, I must buy 4 a week (dd eats chunks at a time) so to have a meme one appear as soon as one is finished would be superb.

Teenagers are challenging aren’t they shagme. Hope things improve for you both

Rshard · 07/02/2020 06:19

A meme!! A new one obvs!

MrsBertBibby · 07/02/2020 06:48

Sounds menopausy to me heartsease although I'm the last one to know! I'd suggest a GP visit.

HouseTornado · 07/02/2020 06:56

Morning folks. Scales not moved but I think I need to up my water - I aim for 3l but it's probably only 2l if I'm honest.

Anyway.

B: Omelette
L: Probably nothing as I'll be too full
D: Leftover chicken stroganoff

3l water

StuntNun · 07/02/2020 07:13

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I have two kids off school with the lurgy and I've come down with it too.

Had a trip to Birmingham to talk at a conference followed by a committee meeting last night and had two glasses of cold white wine when I finally got home. Never mind.

@ShagMeRiggins we have yet to sort finances so could still be awful but I know that there is no going back. I was so unhappy in that marriage
