Well done for sticking with us for four weeks! You are fat-adapted now and getting the full health benefits of this way of eating. Add your weight to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and let's see how everyone has done. Don't forget that it's typical for weight loss to pause at some point in weeks 3-5 but so long as you are following the rules you are still losing fat!

I know a few of you have been missing meals, whether by accident or design, so I'd like to start talking about intermittent fasting this week if anyone is interested? It's completely optional so don't feel that you should fast if you don't want to. I still think it's worth finding out more about intermittent fasting, how it works, when and why you might want to introduce it, and what it feels like to fast... spoiler alert it doesn't involve feeling hungry!

I don't think he'll give me the figures as he has absolute faith in doctors so won't question our GP's advice. I just know that (according to him) the one level was ok and the other (bad) one was slightly elevated. GP has said that he won't be tested again for 2 years as "it takes time for dietary changes to work through into blood results" Hmm

He's slightly overweight for him (but actually weighs less than me Shock: he is 5' 6" and 158lb)

The positive is that he is going to cut back in his consumption of crisps and (full fat) Irn Bru.

Venusandmars - that's exactly the strategy I'm going to follow Wink - with the exception of the mushroom suggestions as they are the food of the devil 🤢🤮Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 06/02/2020 15:50

Well, it’s certainly up to him what he eats and you’ve described him often as a lovely man, but it’s not right for him to have suggest your way of eating needs to change.

And I’m serious about him cooking his meals, at least some of them. Or if you cook same foods differently for the both of you he can commit to all the washing you because there are always extra pans being used.

ShagMeRiggins · 06/02/2020 15:51

*washing up, not washing you (unless you like that sort of thing Wink)

Almahart · 06/02/2020 15:55

@VeraPamil that is rubbish.

I love how whenever I come here you lot are always having the discussion I need to have.

I am 5’7” and am aiming for 10 stone 7. I’d love to be 10 stone but I’ve never made it and 10 stone 7 puts me as an average 12 which I’m quite happy with really. But I’ve only got 5 ibs to go (lost a lot last BC and put 10ibs on over Christmas) so obvs it’s going to be slower

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 16:10

Hey shag. Always happy to receive input Smile. My goal when I first started BC in '17 was 145. But as I progressed I lost more easily back then Hmm until I found I was happy in the 136-140 range. I did dip to 132ish. But that was definitely too low. Thankfully I've never been anywhere near an eating disorder. Just the "usual" western world bad relationship with food. At 136-140 I'm a solid size 10. Def no where near an 8.

BIWI · 06/02/2020 16:29

It could be that you're perimenopausal ...

sheepysheep · 06/02/2020 16:35

BIWI I’m also wondering this as I’m really struggling to shift the weight this time despite strict adherence! Last time i needed to drop weight I was marathon training so it slid off easily but this time it’s a struggle. I thought it was because I was eating too much / not exercising but maybe not.... My Periods have gone a bit strange in the last six months.

Every woman in my family has had a hysterectomy so I have no idea when things would have happened naturally for them - that’s assuming there is a genetic element to it? How do you know if you are perimenapausal? I’m only 41 and a half!

ShagMeRiggins · 06/02/2020 16:42

Thankfully I've never been anywhere near an eating disorder.

I want you to know that didn’t even cross my mind, Brassica! And thanks for explaining about your comfort zone, it makes sense and we should all absolutely get into our own.

Mimosa1 · 06/02/2020 16:43

Hi all,

Managing to stick to LCHF on the whole despite travelling. I'm in Spain and was struck by how many office workers leave their office, eat a proper sit down lunch, and go back to work, rather than eating a pret sandwich at their desk. Much healthier!

Almahart · 06/02/2020 16:45

Oh god. Peri menopausal. I didn’t pout two and two together. I’m pretty sure that I am (49 this year) but hadn’t really related that to my weight

BIWI · 06/02/2020 16:53

Just in case information about the perimenopause

BIWI · 06/02/2020 16:55

And a bit more here about losing weight during the perimenopause/menopause . The good news is that a low carb diet is more beneficial!

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 16:58

It could be that you're perimenopausal

I've asked myself the same question. My only (other than weight) symptom seems to be that I am very, incredibly and unreasonably irritable. I'm either surrounded by fuckwits day in and day out or there is something else going on GrinGrin

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 16:59

I'm feeling the need for a BC 46-49 group hug Grin

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 17:00

Ooh, Sheep you're a whipper snapper, but we'll hug you too Grin

sheepysheep · 06/02/2020 17:25

Thanks brassica :-D

Almahart · 06/02/2020 17:30

Enjoying the hug Grin

SayrraT · 06/02/2020 17:32

Just popping in quickly as this thread had gone from TIO.

Think I'm doing OK, yesterday someone insisted that I have a bit of their home baking (I tried refusing several times, yes I know I need to work on it) but I went straight to the loo and spat it out.

Work is going to be busy for a few days with early (0430) starts and late ish finishes (2130) plus 40 mins each way so I need to be prepared.

Rshard · 06/02/2020 18:18

Enjoying the group hug!

How’s the IF today housetornado? Had omelette and avocado for my dinner, which was lovely after not having eggs avo in some combination for my breakfast.

DiscontentedWoman · 06/02/2020 18:53

My digestive problems are on going so I have just finished a 22hr bone broth fast. I couldn't manage any longer tbh. I fancied a plate of fried egg and corned beef Grin but thought that wasn't the widest way of reintroducing solids so instead I gently fried a piece of fish in oil and butter and had it with some leaves and capers. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Is it common to get the shits? @StuntNun @BIWI
I'm knocking the bulk of the dairy on the head to see if that helps at all.

HouseTornado · 06/02/2020 19:11

I'm up for a BC 46 - 49 hug!

Rshard - loving it! I think I'm going to introduce it as the norm. StuntNun - is that ok?

How about you? Nice sounding dinner!

Rshard · 06/02/2020 19:12

Also enjoying the hug 🤗 . This is such a lovely supportive place

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/02/2020 19:13

waaaaah group hug for me too!

Doilooklikeatourist · 06/02/2020 19:13

@VeraPamil my MIL is into slimming world , and is forever going on about how lovely muller lights are , especially the gin n tonic flavour 🤢

@BrassicaBabe I’m 5 ft 5 and 144 lb would make me tiny and unhappy because I know I wouldn’t be able to sustain the weight

I just want to be under 11 st ( I’m going for 149 lb as the ultimate , just because it’s less than 150lb ( 10 st 9 in old money )

Feeling like death warmed up , as DH had a funny turn and fainted in the ensuite last night , then was frightened to go back to sleep , and I was frightened to go back to sleep in case he had a heart attack or something ( luckily we both survived )

B scrambled eggs with bacon
L cheddar cheese hunk ( not the best )
D pork mince with spices and a bit of tomato , sliced courgettes baked with some more cheddar and cream
Glass of Chardonnay

Will have a sneaky mid week weigh in the morning

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/02/2020 19:18

ashamed to say i lost it today at work and went wildly off on a vent to my manager, about a tiny pompous piglet of a fatheaded colleague for being a misoyginistic interfering little tinpot tosspot.

and then had to go and cry in the loo Confused

But! But. I did it all on low carb Halo

chicken, bacon, mushrooms and spinach for dinner, with absolutely no wine.
