Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - already a month!

Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet

The link should open on the rules rather than just the spreadsheet because I rather think some of you need a reminder!

@Dia12 - you asked about water. Do you not know how much you should be drinking? If you don't know, then that tells me that you haven't read (or remembered) the rules!

Seriously - drinking the water is really important. That's why it's one of the rules.

So we're in week 4 - remember, this one has a reputation (along with its evil twin week 3) for being a week where weight loss is limited or even unlikely. Don't despair if you don't see any loss this week. As long as you're following the rules, you will be fine.

And remember - it's not all about the scales! Take your measurements, or try on something that was too tight a month ago, and you'll get a much more realistic idea about your progress.

I'm away for the next three days, visiting my best friend, so don't really know a) what's going to happen on the food front and b) how often I'll be able to post. I should have wifi on the train, but after that - who knows! I'm travelling first class though, so looking forward to my fried breakfast this morning.

I hope you all have a very good week.

Thank you all. It's all just gone from bad to worse today.

I'm going to post here so I don't start nervous eating. My dad has had some stomach aches over the last few days and this morning went to a&e. They have suspected appendicitis but as the tests have progressed have told him it could be a large tumour. He has now had a ct scan and is waiting for the dr to speak to him.

I have a chocolate cake here and i'm trying not to eat it. I also have a bottle of cava which Mum and Dad were meant to be sharing with me which i'm trying not to open and sink.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 07/02/2019 17:27

Oh no how awful for you. Just bear in mind that you might not want to be squiffy when you get the call through about your dad.

No comment on the chocolate cake Cake

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 07/02/2019 17:28

Sorry that was 3 bunches of flowers and a mug of tea from where I was sitting NOT shitloads of chocolate bars.

nowlook · 07/02/2019 17:29

@MrsKoala Fucking spiders! So sorry to hear that. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.

MrsKoala · 07/02/2019 17:47

I'm drinking soda with lime juice pretending it's vodka and I've had a few slices of salami. My mum hasn't answered my last text and I don't want to call her.

I've never wished appendicitis on somebody so much!

MrsKoala · 07/02/2019 18:06

I treated myself to <a class="break-all" href="//twww.reiss.com/p/seam-detail-crepe-dress-womens-analise-in-red/?category_id=11000&gaEeList=W%20-%20Sale%20-%20Dressesoday." rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this dress a couple of days ago which arrived today so I had at least one thing to open.

ShagMeRiggins · 07/02/2019 18:44

Flowers @MrsKoala and Happy Birthday. I wish you the very best of everything for this next year.

So sorry to hear about everything you’re dealing with. Just so you know, even though you’re unwell and unhappy, I am so inspired by you and how you keep turning to this board for support to help get you through. We can’t physically help out, but you’re not caving, you’re not giving up, you’re seeking emotional help for a very tough time. I hope you have real life emotional
Support as well. If not, we are always here and your grit inspires us all.

1Wildheartsease · 07/02/2019 18:52

Everything ShagMeRiggins said MrsKoala.

You so deserve some good news.
(Your poor Dad is having appendicitis wished on him from all over the country.)
Well done on the lime and soda with salami.
Am trying to think of more such cocktails for you.

Doilooklikeatourist · 07/02/2019 19:06

Oh lord ❤️💐@MrsKoala
Puts everything into perspective

MrsKoala · 07/02/2019 19:16

Thank you all. I’m moved to tears.

Great news. Dad has diverticulosis. He needs a colonoscopy tomorrow and then they will decide whether he needs a small op to clear the infection. He’s staying in on IV antibiotics at the moment.

It certainly does put it all into perspective. this morning I was moaning DH hadn’t given me anything or sorted anything from the kids. Now I am just glad my dad doesn’t have cancer (btw do return with large flowers and tail between his legs and is upstairs wrapping and doing cards with the kids)

It’s amazing how much I wanted to just consume something, just to feel a different sensation from utter dread. I wasn’t hungry or thirsty but I just felt I needed an activity to occupy me. It was such a blessing to have this thread to turn to so thank you all for your support and keeping me on track.

Here is the cake and cava completely untouched. I’m going to save the wine to drink with my dad when he gets out of hospital.

Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - already a month!
Condamine · 07/02/2019 19:34

That's great news MrsKoala. I hope you have a lovely evening now. Well done for avoiding the cake and cava.

nowlook · 07/02/2019 20:14

@MrsKoala YAY! Diverticulosis sounds bloody brilliant Grin

Now you're back from the brink, I have to say I'd have scoffed that cake and necked the cava hours ago...that's some resolve!

1Wildheartsease · 07/02/2019 21:07

Wow MrsKoala - this is great news.

Celebrating Diverticulosis for the first time ever :)

And that untouched bottle+unopened cake are a superb birthday gift to yourself. Well done. A medal is deserved!

Rshard · 07/02/2019 21:25

Lovely news @mrskoala, so glad it’s nothing more sinister

Mimosa1 · 07/02/2019 22:32

Hear hear @MrsKoala ! What a rollercoaster.
You are amazing and I hope you're feeling celebrated by your DH and children, take 2.

It looks like I've hit the week 4 stall, boo. @biwi I'm glad you warned us.

I still struggle with the water but have spotted a water bottle with a spout/straw thingy that I'm going to try to see if it improves things.

It's my child's birthday party this weekend so lots of prep that seems mostly food related. I'm resisting temptation so far.

KOKO.

Notlostjustexploring · 07/02/2019 22:35

Does Bootcamp do awards at the end? I think MrsKoala has just won Man of the Match.

I'm very glad your dad is going to be fine!x

Dia12 · 07/02/2019 23:10

Just catching up on the thread, wow @MrsKoala, you have had quite a day, I'm so pleased there is a happy ending. Happy birthday, wishing you all the best.

This thread is real sanctuary to come back to and everyone's collective determination is inspiring.

It's that time of the month where I start to symptom spot for a miracle BFP and I think I may have had implantation bleeding today or else just random light spotting. Who knows, it's wishful thinking on my part but it did get me thinking about continuing with weight loss and this woe if I ever did get that miracle BFP?

Anyone have any experience with this?

BIWI · 07/02/2019 23:30

@Dia12 I don't want to get your hopes up, but we have had a number of Bootcamp babies!

OP posts:
Dia12 · 07/02/2019 23:32

That's good to hear @BIWI. So women continue on this woe during their pregnancy?

MrsTerryPratcett · 07/02/2019 23:36

Bloody hell Koala, it never rains but it pours.

Untouched chocolate cake in those circumstances, you're a Zen master.

BIWI · 07/02/2019 23:41

@Dia12 we'd normally recommend that they stick to Bootcamp Light. @StuntNun is the expert!

WhatTheFronti · 07/02/2019 23:42

🤞for you @Dia12.

So glad your dad is ok @MrsKoala. Hope you had an ok birthday in the end 💐🎈🎉

StuntNun · 07/02/2019 23:44

Dia I got pregnant while eating low carb and remained mostly low carb through pregnancy and breastfeeding. In the first trimester I had nausea and had to eat more carbs than ideal just to keep something down but then I got back to Bootcamp Light in the second trimester.

Dia12 · 07/02/2019 23:53

That's amazing, I think my gp would collapse if I told him that - he's already not so keen on the keto diet. Anyway thank you for the info @StuntNun and @biwi.

Thanks @WhatTheFronti Smile

CeciliaMcFlange · 08/02/2019 07:47

Hi all

I haven't posted for ages, but have been KOKOing quietly in the background. Have been fairly stable for the past couple of weeks but have lost a 1lb in the past 2 days so hoping I'm kicking goals again.

Had shitty day at work today (not in UK) but resisted the chips, sweets and other crap options that were laid on in the office. Am drinking water like it's going out of style but am exhausted.

Dinner of pork, cauliflower rice and kale (with dollops of fat) coming up shortly then early to bed.

Well done everyone on still being here, thanks @BIWI for your absolute insistence on the rules - so good not to be wishy washy.
