Good morning all

I see from the end of last week's thread that some of us have been struggling with various demons.

We only have two weeks left, so time to gird your loins (however you do that!), and plough on.

Hopefully the snow has gone, or is disappearing rapidly, and that there's enough appropriate food in the shops. At least our problem is not being able to find what we want - I saw a very sad piece in the news yesterday about a dairy farmer, who was having to throw all his milk away, because the tanker couldn't get to his farm to collect it. So days' worth of money for him gone Sad

Anyway, here's the lovely new thread, and with the fantastic Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Good luck this week. Stick with it and keep the focus.

Wow so close brassica!

That’s brilliant alma

Twoo · 09/03/2018 07:55

Great results Athel’, Brass’ and Alma . Sounds like you’re all doing great!

We are all going to be a variation on a theme in regards to what works for each of us individually.

StuntNun · 09/03/2018 08:34

Almahart so long as you're getting plenty of fat with it, it's very hard to overeat on meat. There are growing numbers of people following a carnivore diet (also called Zero Carb) that only eat meat.

YoLoHogwomanay · 09/03/2018 08:52

wow stuntnun surely that is just a recipe for constipation and ultimately bowel disease?

I love meat but by God do I love my veg!!!

MumOfAPickle · 09/03/2018 09:17

Morning all, thanks for the ideas for book group food, I added some celery/carrots/cucumber and made some smoked salmon on cucumber canapés which went down well. Everyone enjoyed my low carb crackers the bastards ate nearly all of them instead of the normal crackers I'd put out I served up a big veggie pizza which I wasn't even half tempted by. I also made some normal full carb brownies for the guests as my low carb ones really weren't very sweet. The normal ones looked amazing and squidgy but I tried a little corner of one and they were just too sweet and sickly for me. I am genuinely amazed at how my tastebuds have changed!
Very interested to read about the calories/macros but I think like yolo that would take me back to the bad old days and this woe was a complete revelation in not weighing and measuring and focusing on the messages from my body more. Sorry that sounds a bit naff but I don't know how else to say it!

AveAtqueVale · 09/03/2018 09:22

Slightly annoyed to be 2lbs up this morning. We had an Indian last night but I had butter lamb and saag paneer, which I thought was a reasonable option?

Rshard · 09/03/2018 09:26

Sorry athle, I missed saying

Rshard · 09/03/2018 09:27

Cont..... woop woop to you earlier 👍

ilovecherries · 09/03/2018 09:42

Oh god, was reading about zero carb the other day. It made me itch (almost literally!!) even thinking about it. Calorie and macro counting would be the road to madness for me. This has worked for me because it's working with my body, and I'm just trusting that if I listen to my reduced appetite, then it will all be ok. Might end up half a stone heavier than my fantasy weight but will still be a healthy, happy, weight - which is a novelty for me! I don't count carbs either, but I'm conscious of not letting them slip below 25 or I feel unwell. But yo be honest, that's so easily achieved by adding in a tomato or some grated carrot that it's not an issue.

Almahart · 09/03/2018 09:44

Agree Twoo and different things work at different stages of weight loss

Almahart · 09/03/2018 09:47

Carnivore diet?! Wtaf

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 09/03/2018 10:00

Isn't it the Inuit people who eat virtually no vegetation? But they still get all their basic requirements from the types of meat and fish they eat, including things like seal brains. (Sorry). So it wouldn't be very healthy for us to follow a diet with no vegetation, as the sort of meats we have access to are VERY different from what traditional Inuit people would have.

I couldn't live without vegetables. I can actually go without fruit, but not veg.

StuntNun · 09/03/2018 10:12

The long-term Zero Carb crowd tend to eat exclusively ribeye and/or mince beef. People that are newer to ZC tend to include a wider variety of meat, fish, eggs, cheese and cream. But absolutely no plant matter! It's the complete opposite to veganism.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 09/03/2018 10:34

Am chuffed with myself. When I did C25K I worked towards 40 minute runs at the end instead of 30, so I could keep the pace down (to keep lungs happy, I'm asthmatic) but still get to the 5K. I know the point is really time rather than distance but still, it was a challenge and I got there. 40 minutes still counts as my long run.

Over the last few weeks I've upped my pace slightly, and, last night, realised that my distance pace was now 7:30 mins a km, so, if I ran for an extra 5 mins I'd reach 6 km. So that's what I did this morning. 6 kilometers, just because I could! My bum and thighs hurt at the time but now are near enough back to normal. And I got my 10,000 steps in before half ten!

So, Athel, when are you giving up on the snow and getting those running shoes on?????

ilovecherries · 09/03/2018 10:58

I know it's very vain of me, but I am SO glad a lost all this weight before my hair finally left the premises. My self esteem and self image were so bad before, being bald would have finished me, I think. But now with a reasonable body and some nice new clothes I feel I can take a much more 'well fuck you' attitude to the hair loss. Yes, I'd like my own hair back, but given that's probably not going to happen this time, or if it does, the quality will be poor, as every time I've had a battle with alopecia it's come back thinner and finer than before, then I'm in a better place than I could ever have hoped. And yesterday I wore a copper coloured beach wave, while today I'm doing chic in silver. Not many people have all these options!

well, it's like this, you see...

I absolutely intend to give it a go...

Honest...

Even did a recce of the lanes around me for suitability...

But I have deadlines today, and am doing loads of gardening tomorrow...

So it will be Monday before I think of giving it a whirl. I think I've identified a promising place as well - unfortunately nowhere suitable near me.

Stunt, I've stumbled across a zerocarb reddit, and they do sound fairly convincing, particularly the athletic types. I could more than happily eat that way (god I love steak), but would want to focus on getting my weight sorted before trying any more extreme 'health' WOEs.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 09/03/2018 11:07

oooooh, I like that wavy one! Shock it looks amazing.

ShagMeRiggins · 09/03/2018 11:11

I saw 189 on the scales this morning—it’s been a loooong time coming out of those 190s.

If it sticks until Monday weigh-in, it will be huge for me. And will mean that I’ve lost a proper stone since New Year.

If I can see the 180s then the 160s are just around the corner for me, which means 140s are also in sight, which will be my final resting weight—possibly—at a Normal BMI for my height of 5’4”.

I could weep with how good this all feels, honestly, but mostly I’m just enjoying feeling like sex on legs. Grin

Need to be very mindful the next few days—husband working from home so we’re off to have lunch together in about an hour.

For Mother’s Day I requested a drive out to a beach, any beach, as I just want to sit by water and have a quiet time walking and watching children play and being grateful for my family, maybe with a picnic from home. This has translated into his having booked an overnight for us all, and we will need our passports but no idea where—intrigued and secretly delighted that he’s going to the effort for me/us/family. [heart]

It’s odd to be so happy about still being Obese and celebrating a BMI of 32.4, but in context it’s well worth celebrating. Just feeling good.

ShagMeRiggins · 09/03/2018 11:17

Your wavy wig has inspired me for today’s lunch date hairstyle cherries

Loving the range of wigs as well—very cool and playful rather than staying safe with “as close to normal hair as possible” and shows an adventurous, confident spirit.

What’s that I heard, Athel? You’re committing to starting Monday? Excellent news. Wink

ShagMeRiggins · 09/03/2018 11:18

Another thing I wanted to mention—my skin is soooo much better. With that and the weight loss I probably look 10 years younger. It’s fucking awesome. Shock

ilovecherries · 09/03/2018 11:45

shagme, congratulations, that's fantastic. Even if it doesn't stick on Monday, you'll nail it on Tuesday or Wednesday. It's just an amazing feeling to pass these barriers. When I reached onederland, I was bloody ecstatic and actually, felt amazing. I think that was the point for me when it really seemed possible.

Yes, with the wigs I bought my first one as near as possible to style and colour, then realised that no one would think it was mine anyway, as I hadn't had that much hair for years. So I gave myself a good talking to that wearing a wig was no different to wearing make up - change/enhance/improve your look for a day, and take it off at bedtime. So I decided if I had to wear one, I was going to have some fun and enjoy nice hair, after decades of trying to conceal it. So in that one moment of decision, everything changed really. The 'fun' ones - the silver, the sharp asymmetric bob, the very short pixie were all cheap wigs. I won't wear them every day, they are for wearing on certain occasions, or to attain a 'look' on a specific day. Then I have a couple of workhorse wigs that have the more expensive cap features, handtied partings and hairlines etc. But I am enjoying them all in different ways. And now I've shaved underneath, not seeing the massive daily shed is so good for my mental health.

Rshard · 09/03/2018 11:52

That’s awesome time! 6k is a long way.

I love both wigs ilove, your confidence and positivity shines out from your post too.

Congratulations on that number shagme! And those Mother’s Day plans sound lovely

Rayna37 · 09/03/2018 12:07
