New Year, New Start Boot Camp - Sign up thread

Wee thread for people wanting to start/do another Boot Camp in the New Year.

It will be starting formally on 8 January with pre-Boot Camp preparatory thread the week before.

In light of BIWI's sabbatical, a few of us have volunteered to run it in her place. She has lent us her Big Stick Xmas Grin to wield as appropriate. I will be starting the Boot Camp off and doing the first couple of weeks and am hoping that others will then step forward to take over from Week 3.

SayrraT has kindly said that she would set up a new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for it Xmas Smile - so sign up here to say you want to be on it. I have put a few names down that I know are wanting to do the new Boot Camp, just to get the list started. Copy and paste to add your name at the bottom.

I sign up and usually fall off, but the worst thing I can do is not sign up at all. I've also signed up to Rebelfit to do alongside bootcamp. The best present I can give me for Christmas is health and happiness.

There is also a Boot Camp Recipe thread somewhere in the Low-carb bootcamp topic, which should be good for inspiration. I'm on the phone so can't link.

I’m in from the 1st of Jan. I’ve never tried low carb but I think sugar is giving me terrible urges to binge all the time.

@JingsMahBucket - I'd meant to get back to you after your last post but got sidetracked.

I'd assumed because of your posting name that you were Scottish or at least Scottish heritage Wink but then you mentioned "Net Carbs" which tends to be a US thing, so I'm not sure now Confused

We don't count carbs on MN Boot Camp - but normally this WoE, if you follow the Rules, would result in fewer than 50g of carbs a day - so not far off what you say you aim at now. Fibre is separate. One of the things I like about it is that it positively encourages you to eat plenty of vegetables - as long as they are low carb ones. So celeriac, neeps, brussel sprouts, lettuce, kale, runner beans, leeks, asparagus.....

There are a few of the "new" Boot Campers from both the pre-Christmas and Summer Boot Camps who really struggled initially with the restrictions but they stuck with it and have seen good results. I'll leave it up to them to say who they are Wink

Oh my word. I am hopeless at this already!! Ballsed up with the copy and pasting and put my name at the flipping top 🙄 anyway I've done low carb/ Atkins before and it was hard but successful. So I'd like to give it a go before my dreaded 40th in the summer. Can someone tell me how this thread works as I've never done it with other people before. Excuse me for being such a Baffoon x

I actually gave up sugar a month ago (I can't believe I did Christmas without sugar Shock) but I've decided that the New Year is time to do the blood sugar diet and low-carb thereafter.

I'm 146lb, I don't really have a target weight although 120 would be nice.

I had a try at Blood Sugar Diet for a few months this year which did make a difference, but I need support to stick with it and stay organised with meal planning.

@prettybird no worries at all. I figured you were busy with holidays and guests. And you're a bit correct on both guesses. :) My OH is Scottish and I use the American system of counting carbs. I also use My Fitness Pal to keep track.

Just to re-iterate for any other non UK readers, when we talk about carbs on Boot Camp, it is minus /without the fibre. The food breakdown tables on food in the UK have carbs and fibre as two totally separate items. They'll usually have "sugars" down as a subset of carbs - which is a good indicator of the fact that carbs and sugar are really just two facets of the same thing, which is why we end up becoming addicted to them as they breakdown to sugars in our bodies.
