BIWI · 21/03/2016 07:06

Morning all.

And so we come to our last week.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, to appear only one more time at our final weigh-in next Monday.

Still time to get rid of a pound or so!

Good luck all

Creamy coffee
2 HB eggs with dip of hm thousand island (Mayo, cream, passata, chilli powder) and cucumber slices
Salad leaves with roasted aubergine, shallot, cherry toms and smoked mackerel in olive oil and ACV dressing.

ChesterDrawers · 22/03/2016 09:26

Morning all,

Eating random fridge stuff as Mr Tesco not coming til tomorrow.

B: Eggs, butter, slosh of cream, dollop of soft cheese
L: Tin of tuna and an avocado, assuming it's not manky when I cut it open, olive oil
D: Chicken fried 'rice' with chicken, cauli, ham, shallot, courgette, egg and soy sauce

Hoping to get to the gym later, but have a lot of work to do as I break up tomorrow for nearly two weeks. Sigh, why do you have to work twice as hard before you can have any time off??

AuntieMaggie · 22/03/2016 09:42

Patapouf some of the aldi sausages are low carb too

I really need to get back to the gym Sad I stopped going in October and for some reason I'm really nervous about going back. Not that i can do much due to ongoing spd but i should be doing something while i'm waiting to go back to the nhs physio and to help shift some of this weight... sigh...

Still being good - have dished out leftover boxes of choc to work colleagues as I hate waste and they're out of date at the end of the month.

I'm not going to buy ds any chocolate for easter... am I a mean mummy? I figure he's not even 2 yet so doesn't need it and will live without it!

I had fajitas in lettuce leaves instead of tortillas last night - was yummy but messy!

AuntieMaggie · 22/03/2016 09:45

chester how do you fry your cauli rice? I've got some leftover chicken so was going to do risotto for dh and ds and something else for me and fried rice sounds ideal

I knwo what you mean about loads of work before time off - I'm also off for 2 weeks after today and loads to do... shame having computer issues Angry

lexloofah · 22/03/2016 09:55

done for you feek

chester I have had 2 manky avocados recently, I feel your trepidation, ugh!

auntie you can make risotto using cauli too, nice recipe here, looks awful right until the last minute then all comes together, especially nice used to top a baked flat mushroom with melted brie on top if you have leftovers or stuff in a roasted pepper if you can spare the carbs

random price alert Twinnings Buttermint Tea is on offer at the co-op at the mo, 2 boxes for £4

NigellasGuest · 22/03/2016 11:50

Down another 1.5 lbs (couldn't weigh in yesterday) - I seem to have escaped payback from my carbiness on Sunday! (unless it goes back on again).

So pleased I am just a couple of lbs from goal Grin

18:6 is definitely my friend - it has become automatic and I don't even think about not doing it at weekends or anything like that. I'm going to miss these threads - maintenance will require just as much if not more support (for me). In the past this has been just the stage where I take my eye off the ball....

ChesterDrawers · 22/03/2016 12:54

Auntie, I usually cook the cauli rice in the microwave first (cover with clingfilm, prick then 8 mins on high) then fry all the other bits up in loads of butter, add the cauli, fry that for a bit too, in more butter if needed, then add an egg and soy sauce at the last minute and stir through til that's cooked. I've also made a risotto in the past, I think I put the recipe on the recipe thread.

Lex avocado was a success - yippee Grin

ChesterDrawers · 22/03/2016 12:55

Well done Nigella, you've done amazingly well Flowers How do you use 18:6?

lexloofah · 22/03/2016 13:22

chester Grin

fasting day for me here (also 18:6, nigella do you do this every day? I am aiming for 2-3 times a week I think) so no brek except a cup of tea and as an extra bonus I have noticed fasting makes me drink even more water to fill me up and for something to do!

L - sausage, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tea
D - will be moussaka from the recipe thread and the savoy cabbage that is starting to look a bit sorry for itself

for anyone else who might be trying to get their kids grain free and lower their carbs/sugar I made pancakes using a banana, eggs and coconut flour which my DCs gobbled up with almond butter and cream cheese on top for breakfast and this morning I made ginger biscuits using almond meal, they do have sweetener in so I just had a small one to try and they are pretty good so am sure they will be well received, esp once I dip them in dark choc - both recipes from the ditch the carbs site

NigellasGuest · 22/03/2016 13:56

Lex yes I've ended up doing it every day- but like I said, it's just automatic now so no hardship! I think for me it would actually be more difficult to do it 2-3 times a week tbh.
Chester I do it by not eating after 8pm and the next day not eating before midday. These times are approximate though so if I find I've not eaten after , say, 6pm one evening then I know I can eat from 10am. As long as it's 16 hours of no eating! Easy because most of that time I'm asleep. It means I've cut out the late night snacking successfully, which I think was my downfall even when it was LC snacking.

StuntNun · 22/03/2016 15:33

Gah, it turns out the red wine vinegar DH bought to make salad dressing was actually balsamic vinegar. Curse you Lidl! I thought it tasted sweet.

WhatDat · 22/03/2016 15:50

Hello everyone.
I'm a bit late checking in. Congrats to all the losers and those that have stuck with it, losses or not Thanks

I haven't stuck to the rules really as much as I could have done, but being accountable has stopped me going completely off track.
I will be hanging around the thread after bc ends and waiting for the new one in May

ChesterDrawers · 22/03/2016 16:02

That's interesting about 16:8, I've heard about it but never really understood the benefits. I have just ordered the Blood Sugar Diet book so I am thinking of giving that a go for a few weeks but will then be looking at other ways of cracking this nut.

We shall see anyway, I am Queen of the Big Ideas, but sometimes the reality is a little more daunting than the thought.

Patapouf · 22/03/2016 16:59

Hope it turned out well lex!
Thank you maggie I hadn't thought to look in there, I never have a poxy pound coin for a trolley so only tend to buy a few bits rather than do a weekly shop in Aldi!

B: none, I need to make a batch of egg muffins or something!
L: egg and spinach protein pot, a few raspberries
D: I'm trying Thai green curry in the slow cooker, fresh coriander, chilli, ginger, lemongrass, garlic, shallots, kaffir lime leaves, coconut milk and extra coconut oil! Hopefully it will turn out okay, I'll have it with spinach and maybe broccoli.

Are we allowed mange tout or green beans? Found some in the freezer and I don't know if it's okay to chuck em in?

FoodPorn · 22/03/2016 19:22

Congratulations StuntNun and well done everyone who is KOKO with or without losses. Halo

I fell off the wagon twice in the last couple of weeks and it has been so hard getting back on. I have been eating all the right foods but in big quantities to manage my carb-cravings. If I had realised how hard it would be to get back on track I don't think I would have decided to take the afternoon off / eat the forbidden carb-laden-naughty-but-delicious-food-item-that-cannot-be-named.

Sheba, I'm going to be around between camps too (although I'm rubbish at posting so will need to kick myself up the bum to post more).

It is 3 months until my wedding. I wanted to get down to 140 but after my slip-up I think that is more than 2 pounds a week so I don't think I'm going to make it. I need to make sure that fact doesn't kill my motivation. Sad

B - Scrambled eggs with onion, chilli, garlic, tomatoes and a splash of cream
S - Roasted broccoli
L - Seitan and gravy
S - Cream cheese mixed with cream, lemon oil, sweetener
D - Massaman curry with tofu, onion, red pepper, coconut milk
S - Cream cheese mixed with cream, lemon oil, sweetener

That looks like so much on paper!! Shock The cream cheese thing has been totally out of control lately. It has been hard work to get down to two per day. Blush

sheepysheep · 23/03/2016 04:55

Could someone kindly put me in at 150? I've bowed out a week early as I'm away with work. I can't read the menus where I am but low carbing is relatively easy here - lots of fatty meat and salad, but lots of vodka and enthusiastic toasting too. Can't really refuse as it is business ...
This was my first boot camp and I really enjoyed it. I travel a lot with work and it's been the easiest diet, sorry WOE, I've tried (thanks to M&S food in the service stations and nice hotels where a request for "steak or fish with anything green and some butter please" isn't a problem).

Looking forward to joining the next one. Big thanks to Biwi and Stunt for running it, good luck to all for the last few days (and resisting Easter temptation which frankly isn't worth it as kids Easter eggs are vile) and see you all soon Smile Flowers

WhatDat · 23/03/2016 13:00

sheepy I've added you. See you on the next one Smile

NigellasGuest · 23/03/2016 14:30

Chester you might come to it when it feels right (16:8). I kind of stumbled into it because my body seemed to want to do it anyway. Good luck with the Blood Sugar Diet, that does sound really good. My mum has been doing it - I'm going to ask her how it's going when I see her on Sunday.

No one will remember unless they have done an extensive Vanilla Essence search through these threads, but six weeks ago I decided to make my own vanilla essence. Totally sugar free and alcohol free. Anyway, you have to leave it for six weeks before it's ready so today I got to try it. And it is absolutely delicious! It's a kind of syrup consistency so can also be used to drizzle over the top of whatever. So glad I made it, and will now be rattling up some more as I doubt this will last too long and it needs six weeks sitting in the store cupboard to infuse! Excitement!

HammerToFall · 23/03/2016 17:31

I forgot to add weight last week but I've lost exactly a stone so far this bootcamp
If someone could add me Smile

StuntNun · 23/03/2016 19:13

It's DS4's birthday today and I have succumbed to cake. Shock I normally wouldn't be that bothered but having made a dairy and egg free cake for the birthday boy I thought I'd better check it wasn't poisonous have a slice or three. Burp! No weigh in for me for a couple of days. Naughty Stunt!

WhatDat · 23/03/2016 19:25

Hammer I've added you. Congratulations. A stone is fantastic Thanks

lexloofah · 23/03/2016 20:02

well done hammer, happy bday to your baby boy stunt and nigella recipe for vanilla essence please, I am using the grinder but can see ahead to maintenance when something that can be drizzled would be good

B - 18:6 again so tea, coffee and lots of water
L - hm prawn mayo, lettuce, cucumber, olives then rhubarb, raspberries and greek yog
D - crispy chilli beef pata style with courgettes roasted in coconut oil - delish!
off to have a mint tea and dark choc

FoodPorn · 24/03/2016 07:42

Nigella - yes, recipe please! I've made some too but with vodka - how do you make it without alcohol?

StuntNun · 24/03/2016 08:32

A sneaky weigh in this morning shows that I have got away with cakegate and STS. That's one big advantage of eating this way long-term, you don't have a big jump on the scales after being a carby twat. I'm going to be extra strict with myself today and make sure I have low carb snacks available in case I get carb cravings.

I'll have a big test next week as I'm staying at my mum's over Easter. She's usually okay about catering for me but I think the added complications of cutting egg and dairy might make it more difficult. I'm thinking about trying a higher carb, lower fat approach for the week. So I'll eat more fruit, higher carb vegetables, potatoes and rice but continue avoiding sugar and bread.

NigellasGuest · 24/03/2016 12:41

Here's the link to the recipe I used. It uses vegetable glycerine instead of alcohol and that's what gives it the thicker consistency. It's American but you can get the recommended glycerine online in the UK, I followed the link and it transferred to a UK supplier.
