It's probably too early for a sign-up thread, but just wanted to put it out there Grin

Sadly no, Norfolk! Honey is sugar by any other name, and balsamic vinegar is very carby.

BIWI · 17/04/2015 07:44

... and it's not so much the actual carb contents, but also the fact that it would have made a sweet sauce - we're trying, when we're Bootcamping - to break the hole that sweet things have over us.

I'd like to join too please. Had a little one 6 weeks ago although still carrying around the weight from my first pregnancy which was almost 4 years ago! I'm trying to reduce carbs prior to bootcamp however I'm finding it difficult to find resources re. how to start e.g. Shopping lists, carb content, recipe ideas etc.....an idiots guide to low carbing if you like! Please can someone point me in the right direction.

Norfolkandchance1234 · 17/04/2015 22:51

Ok then I'm happy with just soy sauce, I don't have a sweet tooth but I do need to jazz my chicken up a bit. Any recommendations please would be very welcome.

BIWI · 18/04/2015 08:38

Sarb81 Here's the spreadsheet that we use

Look at the tabs at the bottom and you'll find the rules, and here is a bit more info about Bootcamp

Please can I join?? Stood on scales this morning, and they spoke to me saying that I am slightly more than"squidgy" this is not good - big plus is I don't have a sweet tooth at all however I can eat my body weight in cheese! Can I eat cheese on. BC? Have a rather large mile stone birthday v. Early next year and want to look elegant and chic, not squidgy and squat!! Grin can someone tell me if what I ate today is the right lines:

Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel ( I know the bagel is out)
Dairy free coconut yogurt, cashews, and a large chunk Boursin
Fried chicken with skin, watercress, mushrooms all cooked in butter with a olive oil and cider vinegar dressing

Thanks mucky! Xoxo

plumstone · 18/04/2015 19:18

Muchly not mucky - my typing skills are another issue I need to address!!

Welcome!

... and yes, you can eat cheese, although

a) it's not a licence to eat your body weight in cheese
b) some people do find that dairy products do impede their weight loss

Your food looks ok - as long as we ignore the bagel! - but check the carbs in the yoghurt, and beware that cashews are pretty carby. And nuts aren't allowed in the first two weeks of Bootcamp.

You also need to make sure that you eat more veg/salad - this is where the bulk of your carbs should be coming from.

Sarb81 If you think you want more help after having had a look at the excellent low-carb bootcamp spreadsheet, I have found that the books by India Knight and Neris Thomas which are recommended on there are extremely helpful. "Idiot-Proof Diet" sums it up, for me and I find it extremely easy to use and follow, and the recipes in that book and the cookbook are really tasty and interesting. I've been following their WOE along with the LC Bootcamp here for less than a week and have already lost 5lbs and am not hungry.
Good luck!

Hangonaminutewillyou · 20/04/2015 23:11

I'm trying to ease myself back into low carb ...building up to the strictness of bootcamp! I'm finding one of my main weaknesses is not being able to plan ahead, then getting too hungry to make sensible decisions leading to high carb binges. Has anyone got any tips for quick low carb snacks to try & keep me away from the tempting quick carbs?thanks!

Dumdedumdedum · 21/04/2015 06:04

Hangonamin Could you manage to make Parmesan crisps regularly and keep them in a tin for when you want a low-carb snack? I posted the recipe for them elsewhere and can post it here if you want, (or you can google them) they take about 20 mins, less if you have ready-grated Parmigiano Reggiano to hand! That's presuming you like cheese, of course!

BIWI · 21/04/2015 14:41

Parmesan crisps are great, also how about olives? Sticks of celery/cucumber are great - but remember, once you're into low carbing you shouldn't be feeling hungry and so won't need to snack as much.

Ooh thanks for the tips, Dumdedum & BIWI. I love cheese...Smile

plumstone · 22/04/2015 16:03

Thanks for this BIWI - And I have been low carbing for the last few days - not hungry - weird but made me realise how much I eat out of boredom!!!

diggerdigsdogs · 28/04/2015 07:34

Place marking. I'm psyching myself up for this.Smile

rubyblue · 28/04/2015 09:18

Hello everyone, I'd like to sign up for this as low carb is the only way I have lost weight in the past without feeling hungry and I really want to break my addiction to bread! One question I have, I used South Beach diet in the past but I can't see any reference to it here so I'm assuming that it's not strict enough on the carbs (includes nuts, fruits in Phase 2 etc).

BIWI · 29/04/2015 21:04

Just folllow Bootcamp rules and you'll be fine, ruby.

I'm in! Have been trying to follow this woe for a few weeks but confused as some say one thing others another! Decided to go with boot camp. Not sure how this all works....

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 30/04/2015 10:01

I'm in! Think i will start proper bc a week before, as im on bc lite at the mo, give me a weeks headstart again :)

ewanhoozami · 30/04/2015 10:13

I'm in for this BC. I've been LCing for a few years but could do with being accountable for a few weeks.

I know that I do much better without dairy and cutting back on processed meats so I'm going for ten weeks of good clean-eating boot camp.

I will be slim and glowing after that, I tells ye!

BIWI · 30/04/2015 10:18

Yay! Welcome back, ewan! One of my favourite MN names ever [grin

Hello - I've just been directed here from the thread on 'giving up sugar' on chat.
I need to lose some weight but also want to break my eating habits of using sugary stuff as a 'reward'.
What do I need to do?

yongnian · 30/04/2015 20:31

Just checking in as am doing my usual between-bootcamp 80% LC 20% carby-twattery, which I'd prefer not to be, but am finding the demon sugar-creep hard going. going to really try hard to get myself back in the proper zone heading towards next camp.
Looking forward to May 11!!!

clare8allthepies · 01/05/2015 11:14

I'm in! Though I've started already as I'm on holiday on the 25th (so week 3 of bootcamp might be bootcamp ultra-light) Grin
