Good morning everyone!

I hope you're all still with us, to come and add your final weigh-in to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Or, on the Weight Tracker

It seems like there have been some really good losses on this Bootcamp, and so Flowers for you all!

Hope you all have a very good week

Would it be worth maintaining for the extra week and then jumping on board 1 week late Prettybird It is not unusual for there to be late starters so I doubt you will be on your own. plus it would give you clear brain space without having to feel guilty about Burns night. I guess the difficult would not to fall into the oh fuck in the week leading up to Burns night.

I'm more thinking along the lines of starting it a week early Grin

Last time on Boot Camp I managed to have a restrained Burns Supper - still enjoying wine and cranachan - and get back on course the following day.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 10/12/2014 09:47

Grin that could work too. I am going to try to hit it early but then the fancy food only just lasts to about New year's day and we don't celebrate Burns night but lent has two very carby celebrations which is a bit of a nightmare However there is a minor issue of having to deal with camhs which is enough to push anyone into a vat of carby twatery. So will have to see what happens in practise.

6lb this bootcamp but 31lb since December last year almost all of it by Bootcamping. this is brilliant since I have Hyperparathyroidism and this makes it difficult for me to lose weight. Going to stick to BC Lite over Christmas and then join the January bootcamp. Who knows, I may even take
up exercising again.

Thank you BIWI and everyone who has been so helpful to me on these threads.

Stunt , Miffy and others I thought LC bootcamp WAS Paleo. I will google to educate myself about the difference.

THanks for that link Tanuk. You know I luffs you BIWI and of course your bootcamp too. But I confess I sidled over to the Whole 30 thread for a quick squizz (only for a friend like, you understand BIWI). You had me Tanukisan until I reached the no dairy part. I more or less lived on dairy during BC, and for me those were my weeks of biggest losses. What the heck do you eat on Whole 30 apart from meat ?

I'm going to try to join the Jan 19 BC but I will have family staying with me, and it's hard to follow a particular WOE under those circumstances (at least with my beloved but bossy family it is).

I think Bootcamp is more primal.

Report
miffy49 · 10/12/2014 20:57

Yup. Primal allows quality, full fat dairy. That's why I could never cope with Paleo. I have cut back on my dairy and done the odd few days of Uber Camp but I wouldn't be prepared to cut it out altogether. Its far too useful!

aNote everything I eat on bc is paleo, but there are allowed foods which wouldn't comply and there is also the issue of the quality and provenance of the food. This is important where the diet is for health, often autoimmune conditions are the underlying reason for choosing Paleo. There is a lot of good information out there, marksdailyapple is a great resource.

Yesterday was one almighty fuck up, thanks to not eating a proper tea on Tuesday, being beyond shattered and AF being due. To say I spectaulraly face planted into sugary carbs is an understatement, and I ate bread for the first time in 10 weeks, and today I feel bloated and sluggish.

So anyway, missing meals is not good for me - another lesson learned Grin

Today:
B: BPC, eggs in butter
L: out Christmas shopping but something on plan
D: slow cooker pulled pork, coleslaw, salad, maybe swede wedges

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/12/2014 11:18

Oh hugs Chester, but yy lesson learned.

I stayed the same this week and can't do maths. I lost 11 pounds overall this bootcamp, not ten as previously stated. Good times, and I feel so much better for not eating sugary crap and bready things.

Agonisingly I am 0.2 pounds away from being officially in the healthy weight category. So close. I leaned this way, I leaned that way, I took off my watch, and I still didn't quite make it, arse!

But, next week!

Its worth looking at marksdailyapple, aNote. He promotes Primal living rather than Paleo which is basically Paleo but with good quality dairy. He does advocate more carbs than you would get on BC and I know Biwi has said in the past that not everyone needs to get right down to ketosis level to lose on a LC diet. Many years ago I lost weight really well on the Yudkin diet. That was a low carb plan that used a unit measurement but actually worked out to between 30 and 50 gr carbs daily. Now I'm older and have broken my metabolism by following endless low fat plans I need BC but give a higher carb plan a shot. You've nothing to lose. The only thing I would say about going higher carb is to ensure you don't fall into the trap of the white and sugary! Go for the starchier veg and maybe a bit of fruit such as pears that are on the lower end of the scale. I think someone put a list of fruit values on the spreadsheet. It could give you a decent weight loss whilst being easier to live with. Livability is the key to whatever path you choose. Smile

Well, my weight might not be going anywhere fast but I just got a great surprise when I downloaded my blood glucose meter for the last month. My percentage of readings above target was 34% in May. This month it was 3%! ShockThe biggest drop has come quite recently since I took advice from Biwi and Stunt and cut dairy. I still eat a little but not every day like I used to. Thanks ladies! Flowers Makes it worth trying to keep it down to a minimum. Maybe my BG dropping is whats stabilizing the swing in my weight chart. Never know it might even start to drop properly again.Smile

Its really perked me up because I feel as though I'm getting something right! I knew the readings had dropped but didn't realise they had improved that much. The odd thing is that now I can eat a little bit of dark chocolate whereas before I had been blaming that for any spikes. My weight had been all over the place too. It bounced around within a 4lb zone. This last couple of weeks its hardly varied and my trend line is flat again. Obviously I want the trend to turn down but its a huge improvement. Regardless of the scales I think I'm losing fat. Hard to measure as its mostly my thighs and arms. All the fatty bits are squishy and wibbly! Yuk! Now if I could just find that dratted Whoosh Fairy!

Thanks Pisses. Its hard without the dairy.Sad I'm a real cheese freak! I've not totally banned it. I gave it up completely for about a week but then introduced a small amount as part of a main meal once or at most twice a week. Got to have my tuna melt! Grin I missed the cream and yoghurt at first as that was my dessert substitute but now I've found that I can have a couple of squares of dark chocolate without upsetting things I have that and a coffee if everyone is hitting the icecream!

Its been at the back of my mind for a long time that it might be the yoghurt. Its about the only thing I changed when I went from low carb to keto. I added in the Greek yoghurt. Even though I've been well within my carb allowance its obviously still pushed me off track. Atkins and IPD are staunchly against yoghurt in any form aren't they?

They do say that dairy can spike insulin Miffy, maybe that's what's happening. You might find it isn't too bad as part of a meal where you have plenty of protein to slow the insulin release.

Late catching up. Well done Miffy, well done losers. By today my BC result is 12 lbs. I don't know what to think. It is not a spectacular result weight wise but all together in 5 months I lost 10kg and 19 cm of my waist. Exercises 5 times a week gave me legs and bum of solid muscles yet at 6ft tall and size 16 I am still obese acc to BMI calculator. Altogether a loss is a loss and I should feel happy and not moan like a miserable attention seeking cow. Smth to do with the shittest last 10 days ever with family visiting with ill kids who passed the bug on DS who doesn't sleep now during night and me getting involved into helping a friend in serious relationship crisis which affected my family Oh so despite of not eating meals, not drinking water and not sleeping I managed to do that and never fell of the wagon if not counting a few vodkas...Sorry for moaning and I will give me pat on the back.

Hello everyone. Wow - some fantastic losses here! Well done all of you.

I have not been posting much but I have been bootcamping. I am pretty much at my pre pregnancy size (judging by clothes as I don't weigh) and I am so pleased that after being a carb monster all through pg I am nearly back where I started. There is a little roll of flab around my middle that I think I shall hang on to until I stop breastfeeding, but I can live with that.

Low carbing is the norm for me now, when I eat out of it I feel crap and see THAT as the exception. This has now converted my DH to the cause and it is soooo much easier now we both eat the same way. He can tolerate a lot more dairy than I can, but that is the only difference.

Thanks so much for the bootcamps BIWI, I can honestly say they have changed my life Smile

I am sure I will come off the wagon over Christmas Blush as once I start drinking my resolve tends to crumble! But I know it won't be forever.

Merry Christmas to you all XXXXX

Well done everyone, I've really enjoyed my first bc, even though I was late to the party.
Talking of parties, my christmas work do and school roast lunch are coming up. How will this work then? Has anyone had theirs yet? I'm not going off piste for a second rate meal. Maybe I'll eat beforehand and push the spuds around the plate a bit.
Second question if anyone knows roughly when bmi goes from obese to 'just' overweight??

Miffy - brilliant!

Humphrey sounds like superb progress. I agree that even after only one BC, this way of eating is the norm now.

Rybka sounds like those vodkas were entirely warranted, Flowers to you and I hope things improve now. I bet you've traded fat for muscle, invisible to the scales but very visible to the world, your clothes and your health.

Elf I have a work or social meal or both most weeks and haven't ever found them enough to push me off course. Eating something like an avocado and scrambled egg, or similar (ie high fat and protein - pepperami and babybel work well if you need to smuggle food around in your briefcase) about 1.5 hours before means you're really not hungry / tempted and its amazing how much you can fiddle with things while looking like eating - and there's always something you can eat. I've requested cheese instead of pudding, or a coffee with cream instead of pudding, a couple of times, and just declined it the rest of the time, usually with loads of excuses at the ready but at work things especially people just don't take much notice. A soda water with a slice of lemon from the bar can be carried around for hours and no-one really notices whether you're drinking as long as you have a glass of wine in front of you and twiddle the stem a lot. Enjoy!

I've discovered the mental impact of no-longer being on BC! In the last 3 days I've had 2 small slices of cake and a pastry. Didn't want them, didn't enjoy them, but wasn't on BC so I had them. Weird! I've decided to doublethink like BC is still officially ongoing! I need a BIWI hologram!
