Bootcamping in another time zone

I'm bootcamping but live in OZ. I have found I get lost in the main thread because it all happens when I'm sleeping. I though I might do the food recording here in the hope there might be some others who are also not on GMT.
Day 1
Breakfast Egg and coconut flour pancakes
Lunch Grilled halmoui with salad including some tomatoes and mayo and humous
Dinner BBQ Lamb shoulder (in wine) with spinach, mayo, cucumber and tomotoes
Sancks/others stuff: I had about 4 coffees and teas yesterday which I have milk with. And then in the evening a fat bomb and some greek yoghurt :(

Day 2
Breakfast Lamb shoulder (in wine) with spinach, mayo, cucumber and tomotoes

The web chat is what "converted" me I read it. Read through a couple of the bootcamp threads and then went and got Briffa book.

That way of cooking kale sounds lovely, Keatsie! although I admit I like it just steamed as well.

Today then in summation:
B - nothing, forgot, except 1 Tassie cherry.
L - smoked salmon (3 slices), cream cheese and rocket salad.
D - sausages (I know), steamed carrots, brussel sprouts, fried onions and fried mushrooms with garlic salt.
S - 2 cold sausages and Blush 2 more Tassie cherries...

Don't think I've drunk enough today either. Probably explains why I'm apparently a little heavier than I was this morning - well, that and the cherries.

KeatsiePie · 20/01/2014 20:58

I might try it just steamed, tbh. I am a little tired of my method!

The hardest thing for me is missing chocolate, etc. I miss sugar terribly. I came across this chart a while back support.cleanprogram.com/entries/22579976-Cravings-Chart-the-nutrients-your-body-really-wants which supposedly tells you that when you think you want chocolate you actually want e.g., broccoli. I'm sure it's true but it makes me go Hmm

OK I'm probably shouldn't tell you because you might be converted to the dark side. Most nights I have a fat bomb after dinner. It is not really suitable for bootcamp but OKish for bootcamp lite.

A big knob of butter I've never weighed it but probably around 30-50 grams
same amount of coconut oil
same amount of peanut butter ( I'm using Mayver's Peanut and coconut oil spread)
Heat it in microwave
then add it one to two teaspoons of proper cocoa or cocao
Stir and then put in the freezer for about half an hour.

The other thing is if you are really crazy craving start taking some magnisum either in tablets or as epsom salts or as a skin rub.

I had another low-carb protein bar today that is covered in some kind of faux chocolate. It was mildly better than the one I had on Saturday, but not really and didn't really taste like chocolate. Only 2g carbs; but not a happy way to address the chocolate craving, I found. Also can't get on with the raw cacao "hot chocolate" options - it's just too rough!

Just riding it out until next week when I can get at the nuts... That might help a bit more. Might try making my own nut butter with almonds and cocoa, see how that goes. (Can't stand peanuts, sorry!)

hazchem · 21/01/2014 07:29

It's very yummy with nut butter also. Melrose do and ABC one whichh is very yummy.

B- bacon mushrooms and avo
L- egg mayo salad
D- mince, green beans in butter

Thumbwitch · 22/01/2014 12:55

It's times like this that I wish I wasn't pig-intolerant - can't have bacon, wish I could! :(

Never mind.

B - cheese and mushroom omelette, 2 eggs with double cream
L - home made mushroom soup with extra butter and double cream
D - mince thing (mince beef with veg and baby bocconcini) and fried strips of courgette (in butter) instead of pasta. Yum!
and then yoghurt and double cream with a dash of vanilla for pud.

Still not drinking enough water, I don't think...

Thumbwitch · 22/01/2014 12:56

Oo, question for the Aussie contingent - have you seen celeriac anywhere? Is it just out of season here at the mo, or is not easily available? I can't recall having seen it at all, and it's definitely not in our local supermarkets at the moment. Thanks!

hazchem · 23/01/2014 04:17

well yesterday was pretty good but it was my must birthday so will list all of my transgressions ekk!
glass of sherry
2 glasses white wine
2 glasses red wine
Medley of different types potatoes
Pumpkin and pine nut salad (with balsamic dressing)
Lemon tart
Liquorish bullets

Today is much better :)

B) two slices roast beef spread with cream cheese and several coffees with cream
s) flat white
L) Coleslaw with tinned sardines and cheese
D) will be roast beef with salad
Lots and lots water.

I should promise to be good for the next few days but with Australia day coming up and likely three things on it's going to be hard. Not sure how Monday will go. Will just keep the water intake nice and high I guess.

Thumbwich in coles it's often near the organic veg. I find it really really expensive here like 7 or 8 buck for one and I can't quite work out when it's in season.

OP posts:
Thumbwitch · 23/01/2014 10:17

Oh glad to hear it's available here, but it's definitely not in our local supermarkets, bloody provincial country town! Will have to go to the bigger ones and see if they have them.

STILL not drinking enough. :(

And failed horribly to have breakfast at all today.

L - fried haloumi, lettuce, boiled egg mashed with whole egg mayo, cucumber and tzatziki
D - fried salmon, beans, carrots, broccoli+ butter; yoghurt + cream with rose essence for dessert

hazchem · 23/01/2014 22:06

I think if you aren't hungry then it's Ok to skip breakfast. Maybe check with BIWI on the question thread. Your other meals sound delicious!

Well I've been drinking again :( Apart form that food has been pretty good.
B) Roast beef with cream cheese, 2 coffees with milk (out of cream)

Hi I'm back from my camping trip.
Food was good and all on plan but I had a bottle of wine the first night and a gin and slimline tonic and another bottle of wine the next night. I also didn't drink much water.
Last night was a girls night out and we went to a greek restaurant. I had 2 wine and and vodka and soda and I wanted to order a slow cooked lamb thing but it came with potatoes and the waitress said they couldn't be removed so I ordered a lamb salad which was amazing but as I was eating it I tasted small cubes of potato or sweet potato under all the lettuce. It was so dark in the restaurant that I couldn't avoid it!!! I don't remember it saying there was potato in there!!
Oh well back to bootcamp now. I'm going to stay hardcore bootcamping for at least another 2 weeks.

We just picked a basket full of lettuce, huge amount of runner beans, lots of tomatoes, a cucumber, 8 courgettes and 3 gem squash. Plus collected 15 eggs from the chook house. I think I'll be spending my day making crustless quiche, courgette fritters and a big salad!

B- courgette, tomato and mushroom omlette
L- will be salad and quiche
D- will be BBQ borewors with gem squash and salad

febes · 24/01/2014 21:13

I am feeling slimmer too. I am in my first trousers of truth. They are still a bit tight and I have a definite muffin top but I could barely do they up 2 weeks ago.

hazchem · 25/01/2014 20:08

Oh such a relief that some else has been drink too :)

Yes I think I'll be bootcamping properly for the next two weeks and potentially even do a three day UberCamp depending on what is happening. I feel like last nights boozing really has put paid to the slim feeling. Not look forward to weigh in tomorrow.

Oh and I watched some of biggest looser the other night. There are contestants on there that way less then me! I could be on biggest loser!!!!!

OP posts:
febes · 25/01/2014 20:25

What's uber camp then??? Zero carbs?
Has anyone tried a fat bomb?

B- Courgettes and bacon with spoonful of coconut oil
L- will be salad and courgette fritters
D- will be pork chops and green beans in butter

hazchem · 25/01/2014 22:52

It's on the spreadsheet. It's 3 days of planned meals. I think the most amount of carbs is 16g. It's good because it helps focus.

Yes I have I have them a fair bit! As a treat because they can go icey cold.

OP posts:
Thumbwitch · 26/01/2014 00:38

What's a fat bomb? Do I want to know?

I have to get on track with having breakfast - might be easier when school goes back on wednesday, I'll be more focused in the mornings.

i was soooooo tempted last night to buy chocolate (row with DH, feeilng crappy etc.) but resisted and just had a Bodytrim choc mint crisp bar instead. Wasn't quite as nice this time around, think I was thinking too much about real chocolate, but it did help.

hazchem · 27/01/2014 04:01

Fat bombs are a mix of butter, coconut oil, cocoa powder, and nut butter. the idea is they are low carb but high fat so a good treat/snack. I have been having them way to often!

So I weighed in this morning. Not good
I've put on 2 kilos:( but had a lot of booze ect this week so

B) egg, green beans butter
L) mushroom, butter, cheese and a home made chocolate truffle ( not a great start )

I've had two coffees with cream and two teas with milk.

Not sure what dinner will be as need to go to the shops.

OP posts:
Thumbwitch · 27/01/2014 05:18

Not sure I can handle the fat bomb!

I'm gathering from the main thread that green beans may not be the best veg on Bootcamp - too bad though, I've given up the peas, I'm not stopping with the green beans!

Had a fail last night - tried the kale crisps, made myself feel ill (don't like them as much as I first thought I did, so ate too many trying to convince myself and then felt bleurgh), tried to get rid of the taste with cheese (no) so gave in and had a chocolate biscuit (GF timtam equivalent) and 2 lines of G&B milk chocolate. BUT - that worked fine AND I didn't feel the need to go back and have more of the chocolate, which is close to a MIRACLE for me. Grin

No weight loss this morning, in fact 1lb up, but pretty much what I expected.
No breakfast again today
L - mushroom soup with double cream and brie slices
D - will be steak and mushrooms and veggies, no doubt with yoghurt and cream dessert.
Tomorrow I will be having banana and cream - can't wait! Grin

febes · 27/01/2014 06:01

I got a new set of scales today and it shows I am 5kgs heavy than I thought!!!! Gutted. Oh well as long as its going down (which it has been) that's the main thing. Keep on Keeping on.

B- 3 courgette fritters with bacon
L- Hot pork with salads
D- Pork chops with green beans and salads.

hazchem · 27/01/2014 06:06

I know we are meant to stick to under 3 gram veggies but life gets too dull and that was in the freezer.

I feel this week is going to be a much slimmer week for all of us.
