Belle - I thought he was history. Jeez give him a wide berth will ya??? Have a virtual Malibu and a hug. And enjoy your marine training tomorrow.

Eve - rofl at 'fit mum' and 'dd would have kneed him in the balls.'

Kdk/SCL/Sponge - what's the verdict on meet up?

Juice - things are looking good there.

Pink - how are you?

Hello everyone else, and more newcomers, that's great, looking forward to hearing how dates go.

Been to ds's OPTIONS night. Hmmmm. They have an option to do two days a week doing a Btec with guaranteed gcse's at end in stuff like construction (no way) hospitality/catering (a bit interesting) and something else that I can't at this moment remember. That's in additon to 8 gcse's at his school.

DS is extremely bright (no, I'm not boasting) but he's a little toerag and anti institution etc. I have a month to decide. Any comments/advice?? I think uni is a bit negative at mo. Dd is doing her a levels and has now idea what to do when she has done them and feels uni isn't the bee all and end all, which in this climate, I tend to agree, although, I would like her to have the party experience.

I'm on the wrong thread now aren't I. I shall sod off and consider opening a thread on 'education.'

Eve, is your dd doing her gcse's this year?

pinksmarties · 26/02/2010 00:54

I'm ok thanks Monty, I just wrote a long post and lost it , so frustrating as I only type with one finger !

Too tired to write now.

Night night everyone.

confidencecrisis · 26/02/2010 08:33

belle - sorry about your man. DOnt know the whole story, but sounds like you deserve a lot better.

eve - enjoy your girls night out.

Ive def decided what im wearing. Im just way nervous/excited. i thnk ill need a drink before i go out!

will report back tomorrow

Remotew · 26/02/2010 09:35

Confidence, looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Monty, yes GCSE year, I've started nagging already! Is the BTEC at school or day release at college? DD is very bright too but she did opt to do a BTEC in business studies, doing it as a single subject rather than double which is the route the less bright ones took. Think she liked the idea of no exam. We thought it would be a good thing in case she changes her mind and goes into business.

I would recommend it if your DS wants to go into a relevant area. For instance Hospitality/Catering could be a route into Hospitality Management. Something vocational can be a welcome, easier (especially if he is bright) diversion from the more academic stuff.

DD is definitely going onto A levels and hopefully uni. I know its going to be a struggle, financially, but I really want her to go. She will have a ball and in our area, opportunities are so limited. It's not for everyone and if your DD can get onto career ladder at 18 then she will avoid all the debt.

sincitylover · 26/02/2010 11:12

can only do thurs next week sorry it's quite difficult for me to get out.

God feeling awful today - overslept for the first time in about ten years - dcs not too late for school but still rushed and feeling like I am still in bed.

thank god its friday.
and payday (yipee)

kdk · 26/02/2010 15:01

Thurs good for me as well so shall we just go for that and maybe arrange something else another time for those that can't make it? Else feel we shall be eternally trying to arrange something to suit everybody and ending up with nowt!

Am knackered as keep waking up at 4am - stressed about college stuff/deadlines and students ...

Off to bed for 30mins nap before picking up the kids and out with ex-boyfriend tonight - don't get excited we were in our 20s and far too much water has gone under the bridge since then!

Remotew · 26/02/2010 15:09

kdk, I did get excited reading that until you explained. Nice to have some company either way.

SingleMum01 · 26/02/2010 16:07

had lunch date, would you believe, one of our departments lot of staff walked in the pub for a colleague's leaving do!

Date went very well, still getting on well. haven't arranged another as yet, but he did ask 'do it again?' so am hoping he'll ask again.

Janos · 26/02/2010 17:32

Oh kdk I get that when stressed. The awful waking up at 4 thing.

Talking of men..think I've been on a date with a fellow MNetters ex! Talk about a small world....

Remotew · 26/02/2010 17:51

Janos, recently or in the past?

kdk · 26/02/2010 18:45

Anyone from here? Did she know ... or mind, for that matter?

Ooh, I pity anyone that had a date with my ex - not likely seeing as he was deported two years ago which is just as well - though crap for my DTs and means I never get a night off ....

How did it go though ... and are you seeing him again?

ninah · 26/02/2010 19:31

hands OFFF sob
no, not mine

Monty100 · 26/02/2010 20:53

Ninah -
Kdk - ok, that's fine with me. SCL? Ideas for venue anyone?
Sponge -
SM01 - how typical is that the work people walking into the pub! (Got your name right this time lol)
Confidence - looking forward to update.
Pink - doing anything this weekend?
Eve - Thanks for that, you know what I'm going through! Yes, day release at college, I sort of like the idea of it, no exam, but it's a back up in case ds flunks his gcses. Dd does Business Studies at A level, she loves it. That's a back up as well in case she decides against uni. But I would like her to take the opp of uni too. Have a good girls night out!
Belle - hope training went well.
ASBM - and .

I'm off out to see some family. It will be fun when I get there but having difficulty dragging myself off the sofa, you know the one.

Have a good evening everybody.

Janos · 26/02/2010 23:10

Hey up!

Just back from eve with friend, bit sozzled so scuse any spelling mistakes or nonsense.

It was just a lunch date so no funny business..just recognised him from some stuff she said! She didn't mind at all or didn't seem too (on the exes thread in Relationships..details removed to protect the innocent and all that).

Before I forget Lou says hi and wants to thank everyone for all their kind thoughts and best wishes

Janos · 26/02/2010 23:10

And no not seeing him again, was a date in August. No follow ups

Remotew · 26/02/2010 23:13

OK Janos, It's a small world, small site, but stuff like than can freak you out.

pinksmarties · 26/02/2010 23:18

Hi Monty and everyone,

Going shopping to covent garden tomorow for presents, DD is 14 on monday.

Will try and motivate DS2 to do some work for GCSEs but I know he'll give me the runaround as he's much more interested in his vast social life, (2 parties tomorow night).

Seeing my best friend on sunday.

Walking the dog, going to sainsburys,

so just the usual merry go round of wild orgies and all night parties, male strippers, spliff and mayhem.

Then for a spot of tranquillity I might wander into the garden because I'm sure that through my unwashed kitchen windows I spotted the first snowdrops and crocuses.

Just glad it's the weekend,

Have a lovely one all of you.

Janos · 26/02/2010 23:21

Ite as a bit freaky eve that's for sure! But it made me wonder more if I know the poster IYSWIM.

Honestly, bloke perfectly nice, very good looking IIRC, we just didn't hit it off date-wise.

I wonder if maybe he was put off by view of my fat bum ?

confidencecrisis · 27/02/2010 07:27

well, im a little bit miffed/confused.

We decided not to go to cinema as nothing was on and had said did he want to come to mine for takeaway/film/wine.

Picked him up from the station, though he did text and say he didnt mind getting a taxi as it was horrible weather.

Picked him up, He looked better than last week. His hair was ok. so last week must have been windswept. He had brought me flowers and a bottle of wine.

He did say he was really knackered as had had a hard week at work and was constantly yawnning. Incidentially, last friday when i spoke to him he was also so tried, not like himself on the phone ususally.

Anyway, we ate, had a few glasses, chatted, watched lost.

THEN HE ASKED IF I COULD TAKE HIM BACK TO THE TRAIN STATION!!!!!! he said he was really sorry, but he was literally falling asleep.
wtf
So, i said of course, while trying not to look hurt or pissed off.
On the way there he said he was really sorry and that hes always shattered on a friday, but he had wanted to come and see me.
He gave me a quick kiss at the station and that was it, he hadnt tried to kiss me or anythign the whole time he had been here.

Then after i dropped him off, i got a text a few mins later saying thanks for dinner, and sorry for being so crap and that he couldnt keep his eyes open.
I just replied with ; thats ok, thanks for coming.

I think its unlikely that ill hear from him agaain? dont you think?
Or might he have been actually tired? he was yawning the whole time?

i dont know if i should text him at about lunch time to see if hes ok? something causual?

or just wait

i was meant to be in the afterglow of fab sex, not sat here in my dressing gown !!!!!

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 27/02/2010 08:49

either 1 of two thinsg here.

either he was genuinely tired and just in a pissy mood but didn't want to cancel on you. which isn't an issue.

or...... he had been asked to go do something else last night with his mates and he buggered off early to meet with him either. how late did you drop him to station? was it early enough he could hit the pub?

OP posts:
thesouthsbelle · 27/02/2010 08:50

cc - i'm prob not the best to comment right now with this, but i'd say let him come to you, but don't get your hopes up - be cautious.

smarties - your w.e is sounding like mine lol.

monty - wide birth well & truely don't worry. deleted on all fronts. fucking arsewipe. honestly! some of the shit that was pouring out of his mouth was un fucking belivable. and he wonders wh I won't be his mate - or infact why any of his ex's don't remin freinds with him. GBF bless him is apologetic - and keeps saying I should ahve trusted my instincts - knew he was a wrong 'un, but did admitt that he played a v v good game. (he read the full gushing email Gymboy sent me when I first tried to walk away from him) next time i'm trusting GBF all the way.

where's our juicy today?

janos glad lou is ok.

eve - really don't envy you on the GCSES's front tbh.

or indeed monty with options.

blondie - big waves.

hi to everyone i've mmissed off as well.

training alst night- well have majorly fallen out with the gym mirrors ahte them (althou that could have something to do with the fact I was wearing a v v v v unflattering white vest top - shan't be doing that again! only saving grace was marine wasn't there lol.) Today is DS's birthday party so I need to get up in a bit and colect the ballons for that. oh the joy. lol. will prob start my running as well today with a 3 miler around the castle. weather dependant of course. aside from that no plans. oh XH wants me to take him to town and get a new phone. y'day he commented on my boobs looking maller and kept hitting my butt - honestly. not acceptable. (was told as well) think the boundries need to be reaffirmed again. I know we get on well etc etc but this seems to be causing more hassles for me other man wise according to gymboy there's no man out there who would feel happy with the current arrangement and how well we get on?!?! dos it not jsut show we're adult & grown up being civil and friendly towards each other for DS's sake. besides we're like brother & sister - you don't switch off 8/9 eyars of literally jsut me & him 250 miles from family in a few years regardless of what he's done etc etc. maybe i'm nieve?

confidencecrisis · 27/02/2010 09:04

i didnt drop him off until 10.45pm.
its a 45 min train journey back to his.

i dont think he would have gone somewhere else after.

im just going to sit on my hands and let him call/text i think.

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 27/02/2010 09:39

cc - yeah just sit and wait .see what happens.

belle - it is a bit odd your situation because you share your house with exh when he has access. it's kinda like the "living with ex but seperated" situation.

First ladies, there are much more women than men in the UK, which obviously means lots of women are left stranded while the men get to take their pick.
Everyone I know is married and I never meet single men.
So, you're at a disadvantage from the start.
Second, apparently, men in the UK are overwhelmingly reluctant to approach women. With a large number of them opting to stay at home rather then go out and mingle.
A double whammy for us singletons.
I know it is true because since I have relocated to this country, men NEVER approach me, ask me out, anything.
YET, they tell me I'm stunning, attractive, witty, etc.
They never do anything about it.
Seems that they are very timid and hesitant in this country.
Something needs to be done to kickstart these men!

confidencecrisis · 27/02/2010 12:40

phew - he has just rang me. He said hes literally just got up and is probably going back to bed in a bit. He still sounded knackered. He appolgised again for last night.
and asked if i was free wednesday.

gosh - this dating stuff is a bit of a rollercoaster isnt it!
