I am trying to work out what money i'd be on if I get the job I am going for on 15th.

I have worked it out for both 16 hours a week and 24.

According to entitledto.com i'd get £130 CTC and £68 wtc a week, so £199 in total.

Then there would be my wages which would be between £99-£135 and my child benefit £43.90.

So all in all, a maximum total of £377.

I'd also be entitled to roughly £35 a week towards my rent.

My bills including rent and council tax, work out to about £165 a week, leaving me a total of £212 for food, clothes, brownies, swimming etc.

That can't be right can it ? It seems way too much to me.

I must be making a mistake but I can't see where. I have done it about 4 times now.

I think the tax credit figures must be wrong somewhere.

Sorry, for 24 hours a week, i'd get £189 tax credits not £199.

So total left after bills etc, would be £202, for food, clothes etc.

Won't have any childcare costs, as either my mum or xp will have the dc.

Hmm, anything slightly over income support levels and I have to pay my rent with it, self employed.
Get less WTC than that for working 30 hours, but do have 1 less child..hmm I dont know. Doesnt sounds too wrong. Its not that much more than income support is it? 20 quid?

I'll be about £85 a week better off for working 17 hours on minimum wage. That's only for the first year though, it drops by £40 a week after that.
What you've worked out could be right, I haven't got my WTC or my housing benefit sorted yet so I can't tell you what it is to compare

At the mo I get £130 a week CTC and £69 Is, plus my child benefit.

I am wondering you know wether the housing benefit bit is wrong and I will actually have to pay all of my rent instead.

Muggle, does that £85 include the £40 a week in work credit ??

I haven't added that on to my figures as I won't be using it for living expenses because if I do then after a year when it dissapears, I will feel like I have had a huge drop in money.

Yep, it includes the in work credit. I might get more, as I say I haven't got the WTC yet so I can't be certain of the amount.
I get tips on top of that too and I've said I'll do extra hours which I've already been offerred in a couple of weeks, although I specified unless it's an emergency I will only do extra in school hours to save paying for childminder as I'm only claiming for chilcare for the 17 hours.

From what you have said NDTH, it could be right then. I was just telling my mum and she said that once I took my food shop each week off it then it wasn't actually that much, but it is more than I am used to having so it will be fab if it is right.

That's really good that you'll be better off (financially) - working, with the support of benefits. IMO this is how it should be. And of course earning a living gives you far more rewards than just salary. Good Luck.
