This can't be right can it ?

I am trying to work out what money i'd be on if I get the job I am going for on 15th.

I have worked it out for both 16 hours a week and 24.

According to entitledto.com i'd get £130 CTC and £68 wtc a week, so £199 in total.

Then there would be my wages which would be between £99-£135 and my child benefit £43.90.

So all in all, a maximum total of £377.

I'd also be entitled to roughly £35 a week towards my rent.

My bills including rent and council tax, work out to about £165 a week, leaving me a total of £212 for food, clothes, brownies, swimming etc.

That can't be right can it ? It seems way too much to me.

I must be making a mistake but I can't see where. I have done it about 4 times now.

Really pleased for you! Just one word of warning: watch your rent.

If you do any overtime at all or anything changes you have to inform them that very day. Make a note of the time you made the phonecall, who you spoke to and what they said. Its a pain, and you will probably be asked for your payslips and bank statements for the last 6 weeks. Make it very clear that the overtime was a one off or they will permanently take away your rent rebate. My friend worked one bank holiday and they took away her rent rebate for weeks. Or, if you feel you have been overpaid, question it straight away.

If I can help it I will never claim rent rebate again because they screwed me into the ground with their mistakes. I had to pay back a lot of money which id been told I was entitled to, over and over again. In the end I had to take out a loan which now means I cant work a 16hr week because I cant afford to with my loan repayments. Dont trust them to get it right, because they wont!

Meant to add, by making a note of the day and time you called you can later request a transcript of the call if need be (they are all recorded), which will prove you were given the wrong information. If you are under/overpaid you can then prove what was said if you ever have to take it to appeal.

Hmmm I wouldn't be doing overtime at all, but I would get enhanced pay if I did a night shift.

Does that mean everytime I did a night shift i'd have to ring them ?

Any changes to your income at all you would need to declare unfortunately.

Tinkerbel6 · 06/09/2008 13:44

Nutty if you do set hours and get set pay each month then it won't be a problem as housing benefit/LHA will ask for 2 months statements to work out your benefit, if you don't have that then do a prediction of hours and pay and adjust it with them when you get your pay slip, aslong as you stick to hours and pay you won't get into a mess.

ShyBaby · 06/09/2008 13:57

It can be difficult. I asked to be weekly paid and I made the tragic mistake of doing overtime. It doesnt matter now im doing 30 hours as they offered me 50p off my rent which I declined. 50p and heaps of paperwork vs not having to deal with them at all....They will do a review around every 6 months anyway and you will be asked for all your paperwork so just make sure you keep it

IllegallyBrunette · 06/09/2008 20:20

Thanks, I will make sure I keep everything.

It will be hard to predict exactly what I earn as I will do different shifts each week. One week may include a night shift, the other may not.

Oh well, it will all work itself out I suppose.

Just need to get the job now LOL.
