Does anyone know: When Ex-H new baby is born will the CSA maintainance payments to my children be reduced?

It just crossed my mind, I have had a brief look on CSA website and all it says is when they calculate the payments, any children living with a non-resident parent are taken into consideration. So it hasnt really answered my question, any info?

Yep - it will - He has to ask them to recalculate it tho.

charliecat · 16/06/2008 14:14

look at the calculator, tp away till you get what he gives you NOW, that will tell you how much his wages are.
Now put that figure in.
Then change the scenario to him having a resident child and your 2 absent ones.

Tidgypuds · 16/06/2008 14:16

Bah! But thanks for the info just off to do it now. This just makes it even worse, not only has he given up one family to start another he wil be giving less money to raise them too, brilliant.

not fair huh

scorpio1 · 16/06/2008 14:24

oh fgs it only reduces it by about £2 a week

gillybean2 · 16/06/2008 14:26

Yes it will reduce. They reduce the amount of his net income based on 1 child living with him and then work out 20% (for two other children) of the reduced net amount.

Are you saying you wouldn't have another child because it would have a financial impact on your other two children? That fact didn't stop you having a second child with your x. So why should he not have a third child if he wants to and is able too?

Yes you can be angry and worry about bills etc, but you have seperate lives now. Just because things didn't work out between the two of you he should put his while life on hold and get a vasectomy?

Gilly

If he resides in a house with another child, his or otherwise, fifteen percent of his salary will be ringfenced by the CSA, then your entitlement will be worked out from the remainder. If he lives with two or more children, the ringfenced amount will be twenty percent.

Tidgypuds · 16/06/2008 22:06

Hi thanks to those who answered the question for me I have worked it out and I will get in fact 85 pounds a month less (not 2 pounds as scorpio1 said

Gillybean - Yep thats right except not a vasectomy a castration.

Tidgy might be an idea to tighten your belt for a short time as the maintenance might stop for a while while its being re-calculated, £85 a month is a lot to lose.

scorpio1 · 17/06/2008 11:11

as much as you like, thats what it reduced for us, maybe becuase this is our 3dc in our 'new' family. it didnt adjust dss payment much, only the £2 and we didnt bother adjusting it.

kittycats · 17/06/2008 16:54

gillybean2

When my exh had a child with his new wife he stopped paying altogether for 'our' two children!
I can not have another child because with having to support my two i can not afford another. How is that fair? the absent parent goes off and starts again while the other parent has to struggle on.

Tidgypuds · 17/06/2008 18:01

Kittycats that must be very hard for you and I sympathise. Can you not go through CSA and force him to pay?

Scorpio1 I did a '' because it is going to be a lot more than the "oh fgs it only reduces it by about £2 a week" So I think Im entitled to be a little bit worried at losing 85 a month that I rely on to feed my children.

Thanks Tinkerbel6 thats a good idea.

im with kittycats and Tidgy on this one..why is it ok for the man to swan off, leaving his first family behind, impregnating the next female that comes along, and thus punishing the first family by cutting down their payments????????

Maybe there is a minority of those who are part of the 'new family' that dont see it as much of a problem.
Just out of interest and I maybe wrong but gillybean2 are you part of a new family does your DP have previous children from a relationship? Of course you can tell me to keep my nose out as its none of my business.

As much as we hate it, we cannot control anything but our own lives. I think it it vile that my ex gets to reduce his contributions to looking after our children because the whore he sleeps with has a child by her ex, but that's the way of the world and other than be angry there's naught I can physically do about it. So I suck it up, and plot other more interesting way to have revenge

Ironically, I happen to know that the whore has issues with her ex and the amount he pays her, but she'd never be able to see it from another angle. Pitiful really.

Ryobi · 18/06/2008 13:19

Maybe scorpio is upset because it should only cost her £2 a week to look after her new baby . £85 a month for 2 children sounds very low though Tidgypuds

poppy34 · 18/06/2008 13:26

the csa rules are baffling in their logic.. if you're in position where calculate maintenance and are outside csa rules the second family is completely ignored for purposes of looking at ex's income.

is there any way says she naively that you can try and speed along the painful purpose of readjustment tidgy? seems damn unfair that you/dc suffer whilst the csa gets its act together and you get less afterwards

I agree re both responsible herbie- but was reason CSA payments jumped cos your income was also taken into account

Ryobi · 18/06/2008 13:31

oh it reduced by £85.....sorry i read it wrong

Ryobi · 18/06/2008 13:32

quite herbie. Its a massive assumption to think its always the mans fault that the relationship broke down

kittycats · 18/06/2008 13:39

herbietea

I do take fiancial responsibilty for my 2 kids, i work full time to support my kids, school holiday care and money so the kids can go out with friends comes out of my pocket!
My exh was actually boasting that he doesnt have to pay for 'our' kids.

Ive had to take a job working longer hours just so 'our' kids can have the basic's while their father is holidaying abroad 2-3 wks every year with his new wife and child.

Oh and he doesnt see kids because 'he is too busy' so i have to sort out AND pay for childcare!
