Happy Mothers day :o

At 5 he can be forgiven - bt you'll have to start the training soon for when he's a bit bigger :o

colditz · 03/04/2011 08:48

Happy mother's day ladies!

I have ben screamed at and lashed at and had to manhandle ds1 into his room, but ds2 is picking up rubbish nicely Smile#

Neither of them have remembered it's mothers day.

SkipToTheEnd · 03/04/2011 09:00

Colditz - hope your mothers day improves!

This is the first year when it's not been worse then valentines day as a single parent.

I think DD only remembered as we were working at a craft fair yesterday which was full of mothers day stuff.

WhoWhoWhoWho · 03/04/2011 10:48

happy mother's day everyone Smile

DS will be back from his dad's at noon, I have enjoyed a lie in and a bubble bath with no interruptions, and am trying my best to avoid smugbook.

Don't know if DS or ex Hmm will have remembered the day, but I'm expecting a card as DS screamed at me on friday when I went to open his school bookbag!

Anyone else having the day off from cooking? I'm going to order takeaway...

happybubblebrain · 03/04/2011 11:10

Happy Mother's Day to all Mums.

Olessaty · 03/04/2011 11:15

Giving thanks for the opportunity to be a Mummy today. My DS gave me a card made at school. I'm doing all the typical Sunday stuff, but for some reason, instead of making me feel sad or jealous of not being spoiled, it's making me feel supremely lucky. I have these two lovely kids, I am raising them by myself, and I am doing a great job of it.

Happy Mothers Day.

Newbabynewmum · 03/04/2011 11:16

Happy mothers day everyone xx

BertieBotts · 03/04/2011 11:26

Happy Mother's Day :) I have never had anything from DS as he's 2.5 and XP never bothered with it. Bf said he had a sudden thought last night to get me a card "from" DS but by the time he got there Tesco was closed as it was Saturday night Grin

I don't mind - I expect I might get a card next year as he'll be in pre-school :)

Sirzy · 03/04/2011 11:29

Happy mothers day to you all :)

I am lucky I have wonderful parents who took Ds shopping yesterday when they were looking after him so got some flowers and a mug off him :)

Meglet · 03/04/2011 11:42

Happy mothers day everyone Smile

I was jumped on by my toddlers at 7am Hmm, and obviously no present or card from them at this age. But mum & stepdad are coming round later and we're going out for a walk so I will have adults to talk to!

Maelstrom · 03/04/2011 11:45

Happy Mothers Day!

I have been told repeatedly that mothers day is not until next sunday, DS has asked me to take him to ToysRUs to buy himself a gift, I'm just looking forward to an afternoon of washing and a couple of hours at work.

If I didn't have to do the washing I would put a sandwich in the fridge and go back to bed.

Looking forward to next Sunday

HSMM · 03/04/2011 11:48

Happy Mothers Day. My 11 yr old DD brought me a cuppa in bed this morning and got a Hmm from my DH, because she didn't make him one. I also had a lovely handmade card (I think that was why she was up late last night).

She is now in my bed watching my TV. DH is manically gardening, because he finds mothers day very hard since the loss of his own mother. My Mum is coming for lunch, so I have hopefully made her a lovely roast dinner. DD very tactlessly said to her yesterday "You are lucky you don't have a Mum" Shock.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/04/2011 11:50

This my first Mothering Sunday without my boys here. The lie-in and relaxed getting up before church was fab. But it's a bit crap really, had to make my own coffee (one of DS1's morning rituals every single day is to make me my morning coffee), and then at church at the end of the service the children always hand out little posies to their mum's, and then to the rest of the ladies in church who don't have their children there. Of course my boys weren't at church this morning so for the first time in 8yrs (that I've been at the church) I didn't have my boys appearing round the side of the organ to give me one each, that was hard, of course I still got a posie, given by one of the other children, but it wasn't the same. And now I'm sat here on my own until 6pm when I have another service to play for and then boys will be hom at 7.30 - just in time for bed.

HSMM · 03/04/2011 11:50

Maelstrom - Oh Yes! Didn't mention that I have also been hanging washing and putting the next load on and ironing the previous load (although I don't iron much of it).

Maelstrom · 03/04/2011 12:01

Baroque, is difficult but try to have some good time when they come in, even if it is only for a few minutes. It is better than nothing.

gettingeasier · 03/04/2011 12:06

Oh Baroque that sounds hard , are they with their Dad then ? If so did he offer to bring them home earlier ?

My dc started with good intentions - card and pressie- but the walk they promised to come on with me doesnt look like it will happen !

No cooking either M&S box meal !

Hope all us Mums on our own get the Mothers Day we deserve Smile

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/04/2011 12:23

yes they're with there dad, they haven't seen him (apart from 1 hour a couple of weeks ago) since the end of January so were really excited to go and see him . No he didn't offer to bring them home earlier, I actually asked him t bring them back a bit later because I have an evening service to play for. I do't usually play for this particular service but the Vicar asked if I would, she's also a good friend, and as she lost her mum on Thursday this week I think she wanted a bit of "moral" support as much as she wanted me to play.

It is lovely and peaceful here, but it was the posies that really got to me.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/04/2011 12:41

am keeping myself occupied by obsessively checking facebook to see when my BF's DD posts about her Mothers Day present. Her mum has done SO much for me in the past, organised birthday presents and cards from my boys for me, been there when I needed her (even in the middle of the night) and is absolutely bloody fabulous.

BUT, she's got a massive family (who live locally and she's close to), including her IL's, and a wonderful DH, and 3 grown=up children as well as her 2 younger ones, and that means I can rarely find anything to "pay" her back with.

However, one of the grown-up DD's recently found herself a single mum of a newborn, she has recently started "dating" her ex again, starting from scratch, and hopefully things will work out (I hope so because despite what happened to make them split he is a lovely lad), but I knew her mum would also organise something from her baby boy for her frist Mothers Day. So I jumped in first and ordered a personalised mug and key ring (with pictures of her lovely DS on them), and handed them to my BF with instructions to give them to her DD on Mthers Day, so that BF didn't have to do anything. She's not supposed to say who got them, and hopefully she won't, but I know the DD will post about it on FB when she gets them.

SO "hurry up BF and go and see your daughter so I can put a huge Grin on my face"

solo · 03/04/2011 12:42

Nothing different here for me either. I think Dd made me a card at nursery, but she wasn't in on Friday, so I haven't had it yet. Ds has bought me a card, but he's at my Mums and wont be home till this evening so, if he remembers, I might get it tonight.

My car is broken so I can't do anything much at the moment.

theresapotatoundermysink · 03/04/2011 13:54

Happy Mothers Day everybody :).

Hope you all get made to feel special today. If you don't have a few huge glasses of wine tonight - that always makes me feel pretty 'special'.

BertieBotts · 03/04/2011 13:58

It's all gone crap here now. Hope you don't mind me having a moan. :(

First XP texted to cancel picking DS up with some shitty excuse 2 hours before he was meant to have him. So had already hyped DS up to go and was just cajoling him into getting dressed.

Luckily bf was here as we were planning to spend the day together so as DS had someone around he was easily distracted (XP hardly bothers seeing him any more so I don't know that he was that fussed anyway). BF said "Okay we'll do something then" and we got DS dressed amongst much playing etc. Then bf decided to phone his mum to say happy mother's day and found that she was at home alone and so decided he really ought to go and see if she was okay, since they usually all go out for a big meal. But totally failed to communicate this to me so I still thought we were going to do something. Went to the supermarket and he somehow got DS to pick out some flowers for me without me realising they were for me and then got him to give them to me so it looked totally spontaneous and it was so so lovely and sweet :) and then DS headed to the Krispy Kreme display saying "What bout a cake?" Grin so he bought a cake for me too. And some bits for his own mum. Then he had to go so he just dropped us off and said goodbye, and while I was sorting out my flowers DS got all the doughnut icing stuff everywhere and I cried because I'm being all overemotional since I haven't slept properly in days. And then I felt bad because I understand why he went to spend the day with his mum and I'm just being selfish to be upset about it.

Grockle · 03/04/2011 18:55

Olessaty - I think thats a good way of looking at it - giving thanks that I AM a mother. I may be exhausted and tearful but I am very glad to have DS.

I woke at 6, cooked breakfast for seven people (my sister and Dad came plus a couple of students), went for a lovely walk on the beach, took the kids to the park, made dinner and now have to do the ironing. It's been lovely to have family around but I'm just a little bit miffed that no-one so much as made me a cup of tea Sad

Baroque - that's hard - I've done that before. And Bertie Sad

Hope you are feeling a bit better now and sleep well. I've not been sleeping either and I'd forgotten how awful it makes you feel.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/04/2011 19:12

whoop whoop - it's been a really slow day today, and I was feeling a bit "meh".

BUT - I've just got back from church and my BF's DD has posted on her facebook with a picture of the mug and key ring with a big :-D next to her post.

So I'm very happy that I've made her first Mothers day a bit more special fr her, her ex/bf apparently got hair straighteners from her DS to give to her.

gettingeasier · 03/04/2011 19:24

Aaah Bertie but on the plus side he sounds lovely and someone who does the right thing by his Mum - a gem Smile

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/04/2011 20:41

boys are home, they'd forgotten (as had exH). Reminded them that it was Mothers Day (they'd started fighting Hmm) and DS2 got the card he'd made at school out of his school bag. And that was it. DS1 then made me a luke warm coffee after I'd asked him to make me one Hmm.
