Should you buy a VERY new partner a Xmas present?

Title says it all.

Been with my new man just one month. I'll call him "new man" as there has never been mention of the terms bf/gf yet, though we've both agrees we are not looking to get with other people, so I suppose there is a hint of exclusivity there.

I'm clearly running out of time to buy anything, but I do want to get something. Question is, how much should this something be? And should I stick within the realms of aftershave, DVD etc? He's 27.

All advice welcome. I'm going late night shopping tonight!

I had my first date with DP on the 11th December - he bought me a Christmas tree bauble as a present and we put it on our tree every year and have a slightly soppy moment.
Together for 8 years now.
I think something small, maybe fun or relevant to you as a couple but not too 'full on' would be good?

A bottle could work, though I seem to take a bottle of his fav vino everytime I go to his flat. Hmm!

What about a cool Tshirt or jumper?

nooooo. Not clothes. Clothes are for when you've been together for ages and are skint but he 'needs' new clothes. And it says you want to improve the way he dresses cos his taste is rubbish.

Our first date was November 17th, probably had about 10 dates. Hes very into fitness/Sport and his guitar.Just a bit more background info to fuel ideas please ladies!

I've only been with my bf for 2 months so a similar dilemma. We did actually talk about it and I decided to go for something silly and small. He likes cherry coke, cherry lucozade, anything cherryish - so I've got him lots of silly things, like a cherry soap, bag of haribo sour cherries, just sweets and things like that. It's personal to him but nothing too serious. I've also got a nice card and going to write a nice message in it :)

Clothes and aftershave are quite intimate gifts. Wine is boring.

Does he read? A sports biography might be a good present if you know what type of sports/sports personalities he's into.

Guitar - a boxed set of fancy plectrums?! Wink. Or a wah wah pedal! Confused

Guitar Hero is quite expensive, and some actual guitarists find it annoying (I know plenty who don't though...)

What is a sensible budget? One that says "I care about you, I like you, Merry Christmas", but not "I'm going all out here, please like me" or simply "I'm a tight arse". Going into town in an hour. Better bloody not be too busy, I cant deal with it. Wishful thinking I know.

If you've been with him a month and you're not really in a proper relationship yet, he's not your "partner".

But whatever he is, yes of course buy him a present. Lovely scarf? I do love a man in a red scarf!

Well I've got this: his childhood hero was superman. And well sod it, his name is dan. So I bought a blue superman tshirt with the logo etc and have put it in to have "SuperDan" printed on the back.

Do you know any of his friends? Can you ask them if he'd like that before you go to the trouble of printing that? I'm not sure it would go down too well, unless he's the kind to wear 'mad' t shirts.

how about agreeing a daft budget say 5-10 pound and see who can buy most imaginative pressie,me and my ex used to do this we used to have some fun xmas morning laughing at the pressies. one year i bought him some nice knickers that fit me!!!!!Wink

No - no offense at all - I think I am somehow living in the 1950s! I'm always amazed at what people pay for things - and what, when forced I have to pay for things. 10 quid for me is a present for a friend I've known for ages and love.

Well that's your opinion. Largely cynical but obviously you're entitled to it. All footballers etc wear shirts with their names on!

Also bought him the new hugo boss aftershave

I'd also vote against the Superdan t-shirt, as it's a bit well, not very funny and embarrassing really - sorry! Just my opinion!
