London is a very busy place, and people there they never look at you, up and down. There's lots of places where you can go, you never get bored.

Londoner - born and never left.

I can appreciate it’s not for everyone and there is plenty that pisses me off about the place, but I love it and can’t imagine living anywhere else.

I love travelling, love the beach and countryside, but every time I return from being away I have this big exhale and a lovely ‘ahhh, back to my people!’ feeling.

Denimrules · 13/07/2025 13:40

Love, love, love it. Live 50 mins out of KX just outside the Home Counties

EmpressaurusKitty · 13/07/2025 13:40

I often stop & offer help if I see tourists looking confused on the tube, but maybe I’m looking at them wrong.

And all I really expect from tourists in return is that they

a) stand on the right on escalators

b) don’t clutter up three seats or most of the aisle on the Piccadilly Line with their big cases when going to / from Heathrow, especially in the rush hour.

Lesina · 13/07/2025 13:41

Best city in the world in my opinion. I live 30 mins away by train and visit frequently. My biggest regret is I never lived there. Love it.

3luckystars · 13/07/2025 13:41

I absolutely love it so much. I don’t really like cities at all but London is really special.

There is a brilliant atmosphere there, and you can just walk down a road and hear the most amazing stories, or just walk into someone playing music and get the biggest boost of energy randomly along the way.

I have enjoyed London so much so many times. It’s wonderful.

Edited

I actually think that being a regular tube commuter makes most of us Londoners extremely tolerant. I don’t get pissed off with tourists with their big cases or cluelessness on the tube (OK, maybe slightly impatient with the slow stroll when I’m rushing to get to work).

You just have to live and let live in London and not get all precious and worked up about the small annoyances. I think it makes Londoners on the whole a decent bunch.

mydogisthebest · 13/07/2025 13:44

I absolutely love London. Born there and lived there for over 40 years. Moved away 25 years ago and still miss it like crazy.

Me and DH try and go back at least once a month and the minute we step off the train I feel I am home.

Itsnottheheatitsthehumidity · 13/07/2025 13:46

I live in London. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Some parts are great, some parts I would happily bin.

I live on the Heathrow branch of the Piccadilly line so I think we might get more big cases than most.

People are generally very reasonable about shifting them if someone asks for a seat though.

Does anybody like London

No. Not a single person in the world likes London. Nearly 9 million people live in London and 30 million visitors a year - they all hate the city.

DoubleShotEspresso · 13/07/2025 13:52

Couldn’t live anywhere else!

Just like many others here am a born n bred Londoner, very passionately so, it’s in my soul.

Too many reasons why to list but if you know, you know…. 😉

Cynic17 · 13/07/2025 13:57

I love London. I'm just back from the third of 3 recent visits, and feel quite sad that I have to wait 4 months for my next trip. I love the energy, easy public transport, wealth of culture and activities, diversity of people. Probably if I had to commute at 8am every day I'd feel a bit jaded but, as a visitor, it is one of the best places on earth.

ChessorBuckaroo · 13/07/2025 13:57

Was in London for the first time last year, amazing city. Found people to be far friendlier than you'd expect for such a large city with a bustling population.

So much history with landmarks wherever you turn. The wiki article on it is great too.

I love London, wish I lived there

dottiedodah · 13/07/2025 14:07

I was born in London and it saddens me to read of stabbings and robberies there now. However I think this is similar to many towns and cities .I am an older"girl" and remember "my " London as quite different .As a child though everything seems " better".We played out .had a lot of freedom, and many visits to Museums and the Tower and so on.My GDP had a huge garden in the "burbs"with fruit trees and 65 Rose bushes .An antidote to the rather grimy air of London.I still like a day up there and my cousin lives in Hertfordshire as well

SharkBaitOooHaha · 13/07/2025 14:07

What do you mean people never look at you, up and down?
I was born and lived in London for the first 25 years of my life. I actually think Londoners are a lot more friendly than a lot of the people who live in the little seaside town I moved to.
In general London is like anywhere else though, it’s got it nice areas and some really shit areas, you have to earn a fortune to live in the nicer parts.
If I won the lottery I’d buy myself one of those massive Georgian Houses around the edge of Greenwich Park.

Why are so many people engaging with a post that looks like it was written by a bot?

Because it’s an excuse to have a thread on why we love London?

No idea! It's so tiresome, these click baity threads over and over again. I wish HQ would give a care, the site is slipping away from them and us.

Beamur · 13/07/2025 14:16

Love London. Grew up just outside the City and have great memories and still enjoy visiting now I live further away.
Wish it wasn't quite so busy and is too hot for me in the summer.

Lavenderflower · 13/07/2025 14:18

Yes - I love living in London despite it being expensive. I love the parks, theatres, restaurants and museums.

JohnsShirt · 13/07/2025 14:19

I'm here for a week for the third time this year and I'll be back in October and December.
I absolutely love it.

I don't find it expensive to visit, but I stay in a hostel and there's so many free things to do.

Are you making a point in your OP? It makes no sense.GrinConfused

Agree. I couldn’t make sense of it either. Is it a criticism, or is it written with praise? It’s almost passive aggressive so impossible to decipher.

This why I love it. So many things to do.
