Dee, tried to contact you but it says you've blocked messages from other members. If you go into 'My Mumsnet' at the top, you can find 'email options' where you can choose whether or not to receive messages.

edam · 09/05/2010 21:04

(have sent messages to the rest of you, too)

hobbgoblin · 09/05/2010 21:19

Am I late to the party? I'm Sandridge and was a hort term member of a BC in Stevenage direction (other mnetters) but had big personal life crisis going on and had to leave, sadly.

Woudk welcome chance of being part of one again...

BellaBearisWideAwake · 09/05/2010 21:21

Hi, I live in St Albans and would be interested in a book club, how do I find out more?

edam · 09/05/2010 22:16

I'm just going off to do ds's packed lunch, do send me a message via MN if you are interested and I'll try to put everyone in touch with each other. (Contact a member at the very bottom of the page.)

DeeLL · 10/05/2010 15:50

Subscribed to the CAT thing now - thanks for the advice Edam, I've sent you my email address.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 10/05/2010 22:09

Got your message thanks edam, just need to check with babysitters (in-laws!) which day works best for them. I've never been in a book club before - how often do we meet and how do we choose/ acquire the books? All very exciting .

edam · 10/05/2010 23:13

we can argue amongst ourselves and work out whatever suits, googly!

Dee, just seen your message (been mad rush with other stuff since I got in, ds nearly missed his chance to join the scouts eek) will respond when I get a chance.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 12/05/2010 08:11

Okay, thein-laws say they can do any evening so I'll let you guys work out which one and then come along!

GreatGooglyMoogly · 14/05/2010 09:44

You're all negotiating which day works best off-line, aren't you? That's why it's gone so quiet !

edam · 14/05/2010 19:17

no, sorry, have been overwhelmed with work and not keeping up with personal emails at all. Oops.

Will get back onto it...

Chocaholic73 · 24/05/2010 16:12

Have I missed anything ...I did email you Edam but got rather busy workwise and lost track of everything.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 25/05/2010 11:57

I don't think so Chocaholic. Next step is probably to agree which evening suits everyone best though.

Nessamummy · 25/05/2010 12:45

Hello.. can I join in too? Is this still a Harpenden thing? Can I thrown in a Tuesday evening suggestion.. someone mentioned Tuesdays a few pages back. Anyone read any good books lately? I'm half way through Mao's Last Dancer at the moment - fab - and also The East Wind by a Spanish author (one book for commuting, one for bedtime!) - also good - and before that finished Case Histories by Kate Atkinson - brill.

DeeLL · 02/06/2010 09:07

Hi Nessamummy and all - Tuesday's evenings are good for me. I read Mao's Last Dancer and agree it's wonderful. I've been listening to audiobooks lately due to commute and just finished The Help - Kathryn Stockett, HIGHLY recommend and if possible listen as the narrators bring so much to the book. Hopefully we can all discuss in person soon

edam · 03/06/2010 11:27

Hello sorry everyone, got REALLY overwhelmed with work but am coming out from under it now.

Tuesday evenings fine for me. Just read the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie society which was fab, can highly recommend it (and lent it to some other people who agree).

Nessamummy · 14/06/2010 10:51

I've just ordered the Guernsey Literary etc from Amazon - worth a shot at £3. It looks like an excellent first book for a nascent book club. Naturally I got sidetracked and ended up ordering about 7 other books while I was at it, but Amazon makes it soooo easy... If everyone else thought that was a good plan,we could give ourselves a couple of weeks to read it and then fix a date for 3 Tuesdays' time perhaps? I would volunteer my house for the first one but the husband has an early start the next morning (shifts) and will moan if there are women downstairs cackling into the wee hours..

Loujalou · 15/06/2010 10:21

I am interested if this is still going to go ahead. Live in a village not far from Harpenden and St Albans so am easy.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 22/06/2010 19:56

Tuesday evenings are fine with me too. How about everyone else?

Nessamummy · 28/06/2010 10:28

Have finished the Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie society - excellent; can thoroughly recommend.

Loujalou · 11/07/2010 10:45

I can do Tuesday evenings too.

Nessamummy · 13/07/2010 13:10

Edam has disappeared... shall I be bossy Miranda and set a date, venue and book? I don't want to steal Edam's thunder though..
Has everyone enabled their "contact poster" thingy?...

Loujalou · 13/07/2010 14:37

Mine should be enabled.

Drocol · 16/07/2010 12:44

Hello, I'm also keen to join a local book club :-) I'm in Wheathampstead so St Albans or Harpenden is fine for me.

Loujalou · 16/07/2010 13:34

Drocol - another Wheathampstead person.
