Haringey meet up

The mumsnet local sites are pretty quiet. I was wondering if anyone who has posted here would be interested in a meet up some time next month. I could do weekdays or weekends depending on whether those interested are on maternity leave (like me), stay at home, part time or back at work/expecting and still working but wanting to meet other mums in anticipation, but it would need to be daytime.

Hi elkiedee,

It would be great to meet some local mums so i am definately up for a meet up next month!

elkiedee · 23/10/2007 13:48

It's been two weeks since I got back from holiday but I thought I'd post again to see if anyone was up for a November meet up. Or just getting together with a mum and baby for coffee some time.

Hi there! hope you had a good holiday! I would love a meet up, coffee and group would be good. I really need to get out and start meeting people i think, keep meaning tog go to the local groups but have'nt got round to it yet! Maybe we could meet up for a coffe this week or next?

elkiedee · 23/10/2007 16:34

Hi kel, if you'd like to email me - my username at yahoo dot co uk - I can tell you about groups though I don't know where you are in Haringey, and we can arrange to meet up some time, though it would probably be either this week or the week after next.

You can also search me out via the Facebook mumsnet group, as I noticed you mentioning FB on another thread.

Hi Haringey-ers, I've just moved to the area so please do let me know if you all do decide to meet.

In the meantime, anyone got any opinions about pr1mary sch00ls in South Tottenham and surrounding bits? The ridiculous November 9 deadline approaches for kids starting reception in Sept 08.

cheers in advance

elkiedee · 26/10/2007 11:02

Well, Kel and I were talking about meeting up some time, no concrete plans yet. Welcome Hope2. I haven't got any opinions about primary schools here, as my son is under 6 months old. I'd love to get a nursery place for D at the children's centre opening up at Seven Sisters School as that's very near me. Which are your nearest primary schools in ST?

Hello, my little one is 18 days old and I'd love to meet other local mums if anyone is arrangiong a meet up.

elkiedee · 31/10/2007 22:52

Hi Lucy10. I'm hoping to arrange a meet up some time in November. I met kelmcd in person on Monday but it was at a baby drop in on a manically busy day and it wasn't that easy for us to have a conversation.

So kel/Lucy10/hope2, do you have any preferences re days of the week, areas of Haringey etc? It would probably have to be a cafe and I know of possibilities popular with mums with babies in buggies in Finsbury Park, Grand Parade in Green Lanes (about halfway between Manor House and Turnpike Lane), Wood Green, Crouch End and Muswell Hill.

Lucy10, please let me know if/when you'd like details of baby groups etc. And do you know about the NCT?

Hi all, I would be up for a meet up too if one is arranged. My baby is 2 months old today - only just starting to feel like I am coping with the sleepless nights, but I am enjoying it. Would be lovely to meet up and hear all your experiences.

elkiedee · 31/10/2007 23:27

Great to hear from you PrioryParkChick - I take it you're near the park of that name?

I visited there with another mumsnetter who lives near you a few weeks ago - and our babies born in May and June - and I loved the park, but the cafe's not that big as a cold weather venue - we sat outside in early September - and the toilets are yukky and I wouldn't fancy trying to change D's nappy in there.

Anyway, as suggested to the others, do you have any preferences on days/areas?

OP posts:
Lucy10 · 01/11/2007 19:26

Hi Elkiedee, no preferences for any particular day and no suggestions as to where! So happy to play by ear and open to all options

Have been given some info regarding baby groups from the local NCT

Mercy · 02/11/2007 10:16

Hope2 - I know a couple of the primary schools in that area. Which ones were you thinking about?

(and I know what you mean about that ridiculous deadline - the council has almost messed it up for our school ) Did you know you can apply online btw?

kelmcd · 02/11/2007 14:45

i'm easy too as to where and when, dont know many paces so am happy as long as its easy to get to by bus.
priorypark - my LO is also 2months, born 7th sept. its hard work isn't it? am loving it tho

PrioryParkChick · 02/11/2007 20:29

Elkiedee - Yes, I am just on the Ally Pally side of the park. Happy to meet wherever and whenever suits, finding it relatively easy to jump on and off buses (sling is brilliant!) No real suggestions, although some of the cafes in Crouch End are lovely. The Maynard pub in Park Road is very spacious and easy to take multiple prams/buggies into and is often quite quiet during the week so that could be good.

Kelmcd - I'm loving it too, can't really remember life before my LO arrived - how is yours getting on during the nights? I am taking mine on her first holiday this week to see the relatives, very nervous but hope it goes well.

Emzy5 · 05/11/2007 15:56

aaahhh... the maynard. spent many evenings in there before ds was born. i'm up for a meet up if you're still doing it

elkiedee · 05/11/2007 23:03

So the Maynard Pub for lunch one day this month? I take it they're happy with babies being there...

How does Wednesday 21 November at midday in said location sound? Or Thursday 22 November?

Hi all, new to MN due in 3 weeks and don't really know any nwe or expectant mums in the area, would like to find out about meet ups / bumps and babes classes etc in the area. Anyone got an sugestions in Muswell hill/ crouch end area?

elkiedee · 06/11/2007 21:04

Welcome Harri1, if you see above I'm trying to organise a meet up in Haringey and the venue suggested above is near Crouch End and, I think, Muswell Hill.

Are you on maternity leave yet? Which hospital?

Have you heard of the NCT (National Childbirth Trust)? I did a very good postnatal course in East Finchley - most of those on it live in Muswell Hill and Crouch End. They also arrange lots of social gatherings - Haringey is divided up into areas and Crouch End and Muswell Hill each have their own contact person - don't know the people involved there as I live a couple of miles east of you.

If you can't make it this month, depending on when baby turns up, I'll have another go at arranging something in January. There are at least 4 people posting on a Haringey local thread expecting in Crouch End in January.

Crouch End and Muswell Hill have lots of baby friendly cafes but a lot of things on are ones that you need to pay for. Lots of the free/cheap baby groups and activities are over this way in Wood Green and Tottenham - one of my favourites is the Jolly Babies group on Mondays near Turnpike Lane tube and the shops on Wood Green High Road.

Good luck for the birth.

i'm fine on wednesday or thursday. don't mind. not sure if you can take kids in there??? will try to find out x

kelmcd · 07/11/2007 10:51

I'm good for any day! which bus would go there from wood green, anybody know?

Emzy5 · 07/11/2007 12:18

kelmcd
go on the tfl (transport for london) website and put in your address to crouch end. it'll tell you the best way to get there.

PrioryParkChick · 07/11/2007 17:49

I'm good either day too.

There are always quite a few babies in the Maynard so we should be ok.

Kelmcd - the 41, W3 and 144 would all take you pretty close (about 5-10 minutes walk from the W3 or 144)- the 41 would take you to the clocktower in Crouch End (you could catch it at Turnpike Lane.)

Lucy10 · 07/11/2007 20:37

Hi All! The Thursday would be better for me but could probably make the Wednesday if it's easier for everyone else.

elkiedee · 07/11/2007 23:00

Which end of Wood Green Kel? I've probably asked you before but...

I should look up the pub in question as I'm not familiar with it.

The 41 goes to the centre of Crouch End the Clocktower on Crouch End Broadway from near Turnpike Lane, and the 144 goes to Muswell Hill, doesn't go through the centre of CE but does go through some of the surrounding area.
