Hi all,
We are looking to move to Hereford but I am so confused regarding schools.. DD is 10 and will need to move to a secondary school so we are looking for a good secondary school in Hereford so that we are in catchment.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
What area would you move to? Ideally we are looking for a village location with a pub and decent community.
Hope you can help,
Thanks :)

Hi @timetomovemum just bumping this for you, so hopefully some Mumsnetters will be along soon with some useful information. Flowers

If I were moving to that area I would look at Ledbury, Colwall or Malvern (the latter just over the border in Worcestershire). There aren't many places in Herefordshire with stations and it can be isolating for teens not having access to public transport. I'm afraid I don't have up to date information on schools as I lived in Herefordshire a long time ago. John Masefield in Ledbury and the Chase in Malvern used to be good but no idea what they are like now.

Thank you ladies. I hadn't thought of her being a teen yet and wanting to go out and being isolated. That changes my thoughts quite a bit. Thank you

Leominster is a nice little town with a station and community, but not sure about schools.

I moved here a year ago and absolutely love it. We too were looking for somewhere rural but fell in love with a house on Hereford itself and I'm so glad we did! It is technically a city but it's quite small and has a lovely friendly feel to it. I'm in the Broomy Hill area, towards Breinton, and it feels as though we're quite rural even though it's only a 15 minute walk into the centre.

There are loads of independent restaurants and cafes and for me (coming from a much more rural area), there's a lot going on.

My children are little so I don't know a great deal about secondary schools, but I am aware that they aren't brilliant at the moment. However, I also know that a lot of effort is going into turning them around. St Mary's has a great reputation but is hard to get into. Bishops has been good in the past but is going through a rough patch. I've heard that it is turning things around though.

Hope that helps a bit - feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions Smile

Hi there - we're looking at areas, probably more South and East Herefordshire or into Worcestershire - so jumping onto this thread for recommendations!

We have 2 children (6 and 3) with family in Newport and Worcester so looking to be closer to them again, but are looking for a nice blend of activities, active communities and good schools (primary and secondaries).

Any preferences or recommendations of areas please? Many thanks!
