I only joined up with Mumsnet this evening and can't believe no-one else is listed under Guildford! Have I missed something?!

Just spotted this, so thought I'd resurrect it in the hope that others local to Guildford might see it. I'd love to meet up with other Mnetters.... I'm near Godalming with a nearly 4 year old dd whos going to school in September so I'll have lots of time on my hands for coffee...

hotcrossbunny · 15/06/2007 13:11

.

Emmymummy · 15/06/2007 18:39

I'm near Guildford...

Hello Aimeesmummy...guess who????!!

nannynick · 15/06/2007 21:23

I've only recently discovered Mumsnet Local, yet have been using Mumsnet for quite a while. I am in Lightwater, up the A322 from Guildford.

hotcrossbunny · 15/06/2007 22:42

Hello hello! I was feeling quite lonely there

Emmymummy · 16/06/2007 10:08

Hello Hotcrossbunny & Nannynick. I'm in Ash (between Guildford & Aldershot). DD1 is 5 and at school and DD2 is 6 weeks, so I'm currently on mat leave (hurrah!). Am keeping me and the baby busy by going out lots and lots with other mummies, friends etc etc...but the summer holidays are looming so will need to entertain both DDs which isn't quite so straightforward! Am always up for meeting new people & hearing about new places to visit.

Nannynick....a man!!!. Don't get many of those on here.

nannynick · 16/06/2007 10:16

The youngest girl I nanny is 7 weeks this coming Tuesday. Must be only a few days between her and your DD2, Emmymummy.

Know what you mean about entertaining children of various ages... during school term time, I nanny girl (nearly 7 weeks), boy (2.5yrs), girl (4yrs) and boy (8.5 yrs).

Emmymummy · 16/06/2007 10:32

Oh my goodness Nick, how on earth do you keep them all entertained? That's quite an age range so I guess they're all into different things? Can't even shove them all in front of the TV as they must all like different programs (not that you would being a responsible nanny of course ).

So if you have then all term-time, what do you do during the school holidays? (Have a rest I guess?!).

nannynick · 16/06/2007 11:06

No TV in the house, though we do have a DVD player and projector, so that is used on occasion - such as yesterday afternoon once back from Legoland, the older three watched Shrek to wind-down after a busy week.

At the moment, mum is on maternity leave, so I have shared care of baby, though from September it will be just me, 10 hours per day.

Luckily I don't have them school holidays, entertainment is easier during school term time... toddler group, visits to parks, train rides, Legoland (always good even just for a picnic and play at the park), music group, play gym (in Aldershot), swimming (Coral Reef, Bracknell).

This summer holidays, I am helping at a local playscheme (Farnborough) for about 4 weeks, and going on holiday myself for a week. Will also do some ad-hoc childcare .

abgirl · 17/06/2007 10:02

Hi, have only just found this part of mumsnet but am a regular poster elsewhere on the site. Am based in Aldershot with a 2yo DS and another one due to arrive very soon!

nannynick · 17/06/2007 16:32

Hi abgirl, I was in Aldershot today (at the Military Museum, helping with an event for local branch of National Autistic Society).

If enough of us are within drive/bus of Aldershot, then perhaps that may be a place to meet up - Rushmoor PlayGym if wet, else in the park (next to Lido).

abgirl · 17/06/2007 20:20

Hi Nick, we are regulars at the play gym normally, we go at least once a week but not sure I've got the energy for it now as hoping to pop baby 2 out very soon - would definitely be up for a meet up later in the summer though...

Emmymummy · 18/06/2007 10:36

Hi Abgirl & Nick. Yes we also used to go to Rushmoor gym in Aldershot, but dd1 is at school now so don't really get there any more. I'm sure once dd2 starts to become mobile it will become a favorite haunt again though!

When's your baby due abgirl? Good luck!

hotcrossbunny · 18/06/2007 15:55

I don't know the play gym at all - can anyone enlighten me?!

We go to Cool Club in Farncombe sometimes and Broadwater Park which is great. There's a good play area with a sand pit, a lake to feed the ducks and picnic tables under a tree. We quite often have the place to ourselves.

abgirl · 18/06/2007 20:44

hotcrossbunny the play gym is based at a properly equipped gymnasium in Aldershot, so lots of soft bouncy floors. They put out loads of active toys and a bouncy castle and all the toddlers go mad on it all for an hour. Costs £1 per person and details at www.rushmoorgym.co.uk (I think) - is an excellent activity but gets very busy particularly for the morning session.

emmymummy baby 2 is due on 6/7 and I have elective c-section booked on 4/7, hoping it will make an appearance sooner though!

aimeesmummy · 18/06/2007 21:44

Hello Emmymummy! Nice to find you!!! You'll have to change your nickname now, won't you?!

Glad to read there's life round Guildford I can't keep up with the sheer number of threads on Mumsnet, how do you all cope?!

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 18/06/2007 22:49

You get addicted, spend way too much time on here and begin to find your way around! I'm still not great at remembering names tho!

nannynick · 18/06/2007 23:12

I can confirm that Rushmoor Gymnastics playgym sessions are £1 per person. 9.30-10.30 and 1.30-2.30 are session times. Mon-Fri. During school term time only.

Rushmoor PlayGym - Mumsnet Local entry

Where is Broadwater Park? Like parks with nice sandpits. Especially if plenty of car parking.

hotcrossbunny · 18/06/2007 23:37

Hi Nannynick - Broadwater is on the outskirts of Farncombe. Loads of parking. We love it there! There's a big wooden ship/climbing frame, swings, playhouse, slides etc and loads of space to run about with a ball. The sand pit is big with a climbing thing and slide for the sand to go down IYSWIM. Maybe we could all meet there sometime?!

nannynick · 19/06/2007 07:02

Sounds good, will have to visit. Think I found it - off Summers Road.

Can you add details to Mumsnet Local Map?

hotcrossbunny · 19/06/2007 14:09

Details added... feeling quite proud that I managed that TBH! My computer skills are distinctly lacking

Issy · 21/06/2007 14:56

Hi Nannynick

We're in central Guildford and I've just added your site to my 'Favourites'! We have a live-in nanny (soon to be live-in aupair) but sometimes need babysitting at the weekends or full-on help during the school holidays to cover for our nanny's holiday. My DDs are nearly 5 and 6.5.

ForcesSweetheart · 21/06/2007 18:32

Quick hello from aldershot. Not tried out the rushmoor playgum yet but hope to soon. Anyone know what number bus goes near it?
Anyone been to the thing on a Friday morning in the King's Centre? Just saw it on the local site, hadn't heard of it before so may try it tomorrow.

ForcesSweetheart · 21/06/2007 18:32

playgym, not playgum

DebitheScot · 25/06/2007 11:33

Hi, I'm in Farnborough but this seems to be the most local page for me. Looking for some inspiration for this afternoon as it looks a bit wet. I'd forgotten about Rushmoor playgym so thanks for the reminder, I might go there.
