Chickenwings, thank you, but I was hoping to encourage fellow Mumsnet members to add a listing on Mumsnet to help make the listing section better here, and share the news of good clubs and activities for our little ones.

Calbourne · 09/07/2007 10:14

Hello fellow Wandsworth Mums. My son is almost 6 months old, and I've enjoyed meeting other mums at Bertie & Boos on Balham High Road. Also recommend the Pizza Express on Bedford Hill for a salad, coffee or desert with plenty of room for several prams.

Have heard there is a music session on Thursdays at 11:30am at the Common Ground cafe on Wandsworth Common, and that swimming lessions with the little ones are also a good idea. Aside from that - would love some postings.

Has anyone checked out local nurseries and can recommend? I am hoping to go back to fulltime work in January 2008, and very tense about childcare. Have been to visit the Caterpillar nursery on Boundaries Road which was wonderful, but doesn't take the little ones until they are 2.5 years old.

Let's hope this wonderful weather is here to stay!

Calbourne · 13/07/2007 09:02

Just visited the new Munchkins Cafe on Nightingale Lane which has free Storytelling and Rhyme Time activities for little ones one morning per week. Also on Friday's at 11am they have Diane's puppet show at a charge of £3.50

StarryStarryNight · 14/07/2007 09:48

Hi Calbourne,
It is great to get good recommendations of where to to and what to do! Did you also add these to the listings section so other mums can find them? Click here to add listing Fab if you would do that!

I did not know about the music sessions on Wandsworth Common, I will suggest it to a friend with an 8 month old. I am working thursdays, so not able to go.

Not sure exactly where you are, but both my kids have been to Putney Day Nursery (formerly Asquith Courth) on Norroy Road in Putney, which is a very good nursery. My oldest was there 3 years, from age 1 and my youngest have been there since he was 6 months old. (now 5 and 2) Another friend has had hers at Noddy's nursery, also highly recommended. Good Luck returning to work and finding a good nursery that suits you!

Hello again, just been on a wonderful site that highlights a deal whereby you can get cheap gym membership at either Canons or Virgin Activie. Useful for any mums out there that are thinking of joining our locals which have creche.
Check out www.moneysavingexpert.com for great advice on reclaiming bank fees etc too..

StarryStarryNight · 29/07/2007 09:16

Thats great Calbourne!

I am a member of Putney Leisure Centre, which is great, they have a creche for the kids, and also swimming lessons for children too, as well as teaching pool and training pool, great for letting the kids have a dip!

campergirl · 31/07/2007 18:47

hi everyone!
I'm in Roehampton/Putney and i have a daughter who has just turned two.
I have always lived in the Wandsworth area as i grew up in Tooting so i know Wandsworth very well.

StarryStarryNight · 31/07/2007 19:41

Hi Campergirl, welcome!

I am also on the Putney/Roehampton borders, I have a 5 and a 2 year old boy.

Do you like camping?

All of you:
Have a look at the meet up section, we are planning a meet up in KINGSTON! Possibly the 8th or the 22nd of September.

Sunshinemummy · 08/08/2007 10:16

Calbourne - I looked at Teddies in Southfields, but found it too small for DS, before plumping for Eveline on Geraldine Road. They take children froma young age. DS is 16m and is in the toddler room and he loves it. Loads of activities, lovely kids and staff, they go out regularly, they have a good, well-equiped garden and all the food is organic and cooked on site. I'm really impressed with it so far and DS loves it.

Thank you! I have heard that Eveline is wonderful, but geographically it is just too far from our place. I've been to see the new Kids Unlimited in Wandsworth (just off battersea rise) and think I will go for that. Anyone else seen that one and have a view?

Sunshinemummy · 08/08/2007 12:33

I've not been in KU as it was too far from me. Where abouts are you as Eveline is not that far from KU? I have a 20m walk to there in the morning and then I walk down to Wandsworth Town station to get the train into Waterloo, so it's working out really well for me so far.

Calbourne · 09/08/2007 08:45

We are closer to Wandsworth Common BR and I work in Canary Wharf, so every minute counts - I can get to Clapham Jctn easily from KU whereas Eveline would be just that little bit too far.

Sunshinemummy · 09/08/2007 21:19

I'm also in Canary Wharf but find it an easy journey in from Wandsworth Town, although probably easier from CJ.

Hi, I've just joined Mumsnet today (being meaning too since I had my little girl), living in the Putney/Roehampton area since 2005, but haven't really got to know the area too well - my heart was still in North London Went back to work about 3 months ago (fulltime - yikes) I think I've just about cracked the roller-coaster of being a working mummy, and would really love to know what sort of interesting things I can do with my little one who is 10 months in the area over the weekend. Most things tend to be for older kids. Also like to meet up with other mums.

TheBlonde · 15/08/2007 08:00

Hello, I'm sure someone will have some weekend activity suggestions - the only one I can think of is little kickers

Yena · 15/08/2007 21:18

Thanks for that, d'you know where it takes place?

TheBlonde · 15/08/2007 21:22

various locations I think www.littlekickers.co.uk/

Wilbur · 23/08/2007 10:29

Hi all (hello Blonde and many congrats on the arrival of your dd, how very exciting! How are you finding two?) Just signed up to Mumsnet local - I'm on Balham. Calbourne - if you're still looking for nurseries, friends of ours had their dd at the Kids Unlimited nursery and were v happy with it - they only moved her as they moved house and she is now at Second Steps on Ravenslea Rd where another friend has her dd and they all really love it. It's quite small and cosy, so I don't know what their waiting list is like. HTH

TheBlonde · 16/09/2007 17:42

Hi Wilbur, just saw this
I'm adjusting to life with two!

How are you?

Shazia29 · 29/06/2008 11:16

hello, live in wandsworth. live close to eveline and have a place but went to see Kids Unlimited last week and preferred there as a nursery over Eveline.

Funnyone · 13/08/2008 13:28

Hello, I'm 37, pregnant for the 1st time!! Due Jan 2009. Anyone in a similar position? Would be nice to meet up. Live in Clapham Junction

HeadFairy · 13/08/2008 13:35

Hello funnyone, I live in Northcote Road and I'm 38 with an 11 month old little boy. How's the pregnancy going?

Funnyone · 13/08/2008 13:44

Hello Headfairy! That was quick! Nice to hear from you. Pregnancy going ok thanks - I'm working as normal at the mo. Must be lovely to have your little boy! If you'd like to meet up let me know. Just joined this so not 100% sure how to contact people directly.

xx

HeadFairy · 13/08/2008 13:48

When are you due? Do you know what you're having? I'm back to working full time now after 8 months off so I'm starting to try and make the adjustment. It's pretty tough and I'm knackered but ds is great, a real comedian!

Funnyone · 13/08/2008 13:51

Due mid Jan 2009. I'm 17.5 weeks. Don't know what I'm having - as long it's a baby I don't mind! We don't want to find out - surprise much better. Hope you adjust ok going back to work - will be me next year doing that!
