We have teamed up with JCB Explore to offer local Mumsnetters the chance to win a Child's JCB Mini Trac Tipping Dumper. Built to last (and withstand the rough and tumble of indoor and outdoor play), this ride-on will help develop your little one's coordination and encourage them - hopefully - to play outside.

This bright, realistic, foot-to-floor JCB Mini Trac Tipping Dumper is indeed a perfect ride-on for your little builder. It has a tipping bucket that helps your little one to transport their toys (or even sand, earth, pebbles or leaves, if they're being adventurous) around. Better still, it shares several working features with real vehicles - making it the ultimate first set of wheels! This Dumper also has knee indentation for scooting and a steering wheel with a squeaky horn.

JCB believes in constructive play: "we want to inspire children in their play, encourage them to use their imagination, and where possible, engage them in physical activity. We also want children to explore the world around them and find adventure in their own home and garden."

To be in with a chance of winning a JCB Mini Trac Tipping Dumper ride-on, please comment (on the thread below) on your own memories of outdoor play as a child. (Please note you do need to be a registered Mumsnetter to enter. If you're not already one, why not join us here? It's quick and very simple.)

The competition closes on 14 June 2015 (midday). The winner will chosen at random and notified shortly thereafter. The prize cannot be transferred, redeemed for cash or refunded.

The JCB Mini Trac Tipping Dumper is suitable for Ages 2+.
Its dimensions are: H 41cm, W30cm, D63cm. It weighs 4.6Kg.
It retails at £65 and can be purchased from Amazon, Argos, Asda and Toytastic.

Or why not check out www.JCBExplore.com a new resource website designed for both kids and their grown-ups!

Making mud pies with my friend in her garden.

danna5 · 12/06/2015 21:09

We played outside morning til night (in the school holidays), riding our bikes, playing in the fields at the bottom of our street, marbles, rounders and hide and seek to name a few! Those were the days! :)

your own memories of outdoor play as a child . . . . oh so different to today. We'd stay out all day and not give a hoot about what our parents might be thinking. ln the winter we'd be toboganning, throwing snowballs, trying to make igloos - you know the thing!!! ln the summer calling for our friends and seeing where our fancy takes us, Oh yes the good old days

Laflouder · 12/06/2015 21:27

My best memories are of washing my dolls clothes in a washing up bowl outside, and then pegging them up on a mini washing line that my Mum had put up for me. I couldn't wait to have my own full size washing line when I was older but funnily enough I now don't enjoy the laundry as much as I then anticipated!

HannahLI · 12/06/2015 21:52

I have so many memories too but one of my favourite is playing in the ruins of a church and climbing trees!

clb2014 · 12/06/2015 22:56

I grew up on a farm so instead of being a girly girl I was a bit of a tom boy and would spend most of the day driving round on my ride on tractor and trailor, whether it was carrying food for the animals or taking out the horse poo from the stables, I felt like a proper little farmer, so winning this would be great for my son as although were not on the farm Im sure he would still have the same amount of fun as I did

nettjam76 · 12/06/2015 23:14

Playing in the alley way with my neighbour. We used to have such fun times!

maciv234 · 12/06/2015 23:31

I used to have a ride on dumper truck

cjh123 · 13/06/2015 04:56

We used to play Jacks, do skipping with two ropes and ride our scooters for miles. I was a twin and we went everywhere together, making a den down the lane we used to vertually live outdoors.

Cward5544 · 13/06/2015 06:57

Playing on my go kart it was the best present ever I used to ride up and down the garden on it going as fast as I could

poodlefluff · 13/06/2015 07:31

Playing outside with my brother making dens and going fishing in the local river (never caught anything!)

kristanybryn · 13/06/2015 08:13

Playing in the fields by my house. We used to climb trees, feed the wild horses and make dens.

sophie2002 · 13/06/2015 08:17

I lived in the Shetland Isles for a while when I was a Child and My one memory is of making igloo's outside in the garden as the snow was so deep in the winter. it was great fun.

wooo69 · 13/06/2015 08:39

My sister and I and our cousins (who lived next door but one) used to get home from school and head for the swimming pool, indoor in winter and outdoor in summer, we all had season tickets and would stay till they closed and would go 3 or 4 times a week at least.

Our Grandma lived in a very big house on the edge of the moors, my cousins from London would stay all summer and we would intersperse our pool days with moors days we would be gone all day and no one ever worried about us.

I wouldn't dream of allowing children to do either of these activities by themselves nowadays, how live has changed

Betterlife1 · 13/06/2015 08:48

I grew up on a farm so there were always loads of adventures to be had. I climbed trees, built forts and rode horses. We always had a variety of animals - cows, horses, pigs, chickens, ducks and pheasants to help with. I had a faithful dog named Tessa who followed me everywhere and we would go exploring daily to see what we could find.

jill15 · 13/06/2015 09:44

Going to the shop for a fishing net catching sticklebacks in the brook, I think we were always in wellies. Blush

greenfinger5 · 13/06/2015 10:51

I had a little 3 wheel bike in red & yellow I used to ride around & around in my Nans garden & eventually I had a huge gully around her grass, she wasn't happy.

Isis1981uk · 13/06/2015 10:54

My friends and I had a den in a massive hedge at the bottom of her garden, running along the edge of fields. We spent entire days (& nights) down there maintaining it, splashing in the leat & playing armies.

ksfitz · 13/06/2015 11:14

I remember long walks in the woods with my father. We used to collect loads of mushrooms and berries.

buzziebee99 · 13/06/2015 11:22
