What foods have you become addicted to since moving country?

Since living in Norway I can't get enough of a slightly sweet fish paste (sounds disgusting I know) called Kaviar. I used to hate this in the UK when my mum used to bring it back from Sweden but now I'm totally hooked. Also my love of herrings have increased and Lingonberries.
Do you think these new addictions will stay when we move back to the UK in a few years time or do you thinks its purely a cultural thing?

Globetrotter that food sounds amazing... I guess you don't stand out too much in Asia then What has taken you to Vietnam?

I really miss spicy food - they don't really do curries in Denmark, and to make matters worse we live on a small island with only a handful of restaurants...

belgo · 01/03/2008 08:26

lol scareyteacher at ham in lasagne - yes that is wierd isn't it!

mrsruffallo · 01/03/2008 08:40

Limes after central America
Limes are everywhere, in everything!!
Everytime I sell or taste one now I am transported back there.....

beck3 · 01/03/2008 09:01

Mrsruffallo, limes send me back to Seychelles where my mother used to work for a few years. A cold bottle of Seybrew beer with a lime sticking out of the top...heaven!
MrsJohnCusack, what sort of things did you get up to when you used to visit here? Relatively new and would love some ideas.

Stupid question- is there alot of camping there?

beck3 · 01/03/2008 17:52

Wellies, is the Bosnian coffee like the serbian coffee I drank years ago, so thick you could almost chew it? Just what we needed first thing in the morning.

um nothign very useful I'm afraid! we used to go for drives in the lovely fjords etc., walking in the hills, drinking with Russian sailors (a particularly memorable night!) and she used to conduct a concert band so we did music stuff. that was all in Egersund. in Stavangar it was all touristy stuff really

Malaysia - the street food, mouth-watering satays, rice & noodle dishes, roti (freshly kneaded and baked) & dahl, coconut curries - on every street corner, costing next to nothing. oh and mangosteens - the most delicious fruit ever. God I miss it!

blueshoes · 02/03/2008 10:44

fluer, annoyingdevil. weep at your descriptions. Grew up in Singapore - I so miss the food.

Are you near London? I know a modest place in Chinatown that does a fairly authentic roti prata, nasi lemak, prawn noodles, char kway teow, satay - does not cost much. C & R Cafe Restaurant, 3-4 Rupert Court, London, W1 - check it out.

globetrotterinvietnam · 02/03/2008 10:57

Devil,my mouth is watering!

annoyingdevil · 02/03/2008 11:05

Blueshoes, will definitely check that out next time I'm in London, drooling at the thought!
