For all those very patient people who have followed this saga, I have finally arrived and joined my husband in Bermuda! It was wonderful to see him after a 10-week separation. I have a lovely house but no furniture and have a lot to do to find things to make it a home for the next three years.

We have arrived just in time for tropical storm Noel which is passing 200 miles away tonight, but it is still warm here although windy and raining.

I am very excited about starting my new life here and also really glad I will still have mn to chat on because I don't yet know anyone here and it will be great to chat with friends old and new on the internet.

Hello anorak
I hope your new life will be wonderful!

suedonim · 03/11/2007 00:51

Hi, Anorak, I hope all goes well in Bermuda. Dh has been there and loved it. I'm in Nigeria, it's hot and wet here as well!

Gingerbear · 03/11/2007 21:04

Bet she's having afternoon tiffin right now.

Blu · 03/11/2007 21:07

Welcome to your new home, Anorak - I'm so pleased for you. You may have to keep you name, then, until the tropical storms pass?

tissy · 03/11/2007 21:12

Hi everyone! What a lot of lovely messages!

The tropical storm has passed now and the weather is brightening up - we're thinking of having a dip soon. Very tired as have been doing major shopping but have at lease acquired a bed and a table and chairs. The kids have been all narky which is understandable as they are dealing with all this change but they have succeeded in making me feel strung out. Have taken 2 kalms and hidden in the corner with laptop. They will be at school this week so I will have time to tackle my unpacking and nest-feathering in my own way and will relax into it hopefully.

suedonim I didn't know you were in Nigeria, is it permanent or are you visiting?

Cali an anorak would have been handy yesterday! I'm not much of a namechanger and I am still a trainspotting nerd even if I am doing it in sunnier climes. I'm an anorak masquerading as a bikini, perhaps!

Pruners you are right, my DH has been here 10 weeks and has already seen the Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition, and my daughter is going to go to the same school as Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' kids. Everyone does know everyone and I will post and show off to you all when CZJ pops in for a rum swizzle after the school run

SEA no problem with the Bermuda Triangle - it stretches south of here making a triangle with Florida and the Caribbean so you don't have to cross it to get here from the UK - not that that would put me off anyway!

Gingerbear I haven't had tiffin but I did drink several "dark and stormys" last night on Hamilton Harbour. The dark and stormy is the national drink, it's dark rum and ginger beer in a tall glass with lots of ice.

Hello Christie! Yes DH was a bit surprised to see that I had shrunk in the wash! I think he likes the new smaller me. He's lost weight too, due to lack of being fed.

Sleeping bags, camping mattresses - that's what they all say! I've had offers of live-in help from half the people I know and the other half want to come over just to check on me. Oh I love being popular and all because I've got a Bermuda and you don't got one

Seriously, am very, very pleased it's all finally coming together at last.

anorak · 04/11/2007 17:02

Pesto

I've been wondering if I'm the only mnetter in Bermuda? If there's anyone else please come out and say hello!

cor fancy being the only mumsnetter in a whole country now that is a bit unusual doncha think?

Who wants to have a meet-up with me, just a little 640 mile swim from the next nearest land You could get a rowing boat...

You should get Catherine to join.
I bet she'd have a completely different insight into being a mum. I, for one, would be dead interested to hear her views on sausage rolls and fruit shoots

tissy · 04/11/2007 17:08

I take it that's a no, then

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 04/11/2007 17:08

Great to hear from you anorakcladbikiniwoman.

Ooo, hello anorak. COngrats on your big move.

Come and join us on the All Those in the US thread

suedonim · 04/11/2007 17:36

Hi Anorak, I've been in Nigeria (I think I'm the only MNetter here, lol!) for nearly two years. We may be staying for another two, we're just waiting for confirmation.

There are loads of posh kids at dd's school - they arrive at school with their armed guards etc. We're just pond-life compared to them.

Gingerbear · 04/11/2007 21:15

hmm, a Dark and Stormy sounds delish!

You must invite CZJ over for drinkies then!

coppertop · 04/11/2007 21:18

of course but also very happy for you that you've finally arrived.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/11/2007 21:28

Hey you! Glad you've made it there safely. What exactly was dh doing for 10 weeks that he couldn't manage to sort you out a bed and a table?!

Hope the kids settle into their new school this week, and give you some time to chill (and MN) properly.

Now why couldn't dh have asked me if I fancied a couple of years in Bermuda instead of Memphis ?

anorak · 05/11/2007 23:04

Hello hello ladies! CSWS your DH wants to go to Memphis for 2 years? Memphis Egypt or Memphis Tennessee? Tell me more.

DH was afraid to buy furniture because he knew I would come here and say 'That's horrible' 'what did you buy that for?' 'I can't live with that" etc. And he's right I did even with little things he had bought like the toaster

Ah well tomorrow I should have a little more time for mumsnetting, I've been so busy organising schools, buying stuff, unpacking, etc and tomorrow I have promised myself a more restful day so will be back then to catch up with everyone, find out about Memphis etc etc...
