Curious really, as I'm in Asia and Australasia rather than the UK this summer and missing my Primark and Sainsburys raids .

Planning kids pants, socks , lunchboxes, some Lego for Chrimbo .
Cream of tartar.
Coffee beans that aren't yucky and/or hugely expensive like in Qatar .

Elquinto you've reminded me...we did bring jars of mincemeat and boxes and boxes of oatcakes as for a while those things were pricey in Qatar. We sometimes brought cheese too.

£10 on paper chase is such a gd idea!

Schwabischeweihnachtskanne · 05/08/2016 12:30

Just bras probably - for some reason the only nice, normal large cup size bras in Germany cost a minimum of €70. The alternatives in an E cup are either minimisers (plenty of those monstrosities - who wears them?) or Dirndl bras - for some reason large chests are to be pushed up and supported when wearing national costume at beer festivals/ in beer gardens and to church apparently but must be minimised the rest of the time :o

I order tea bags in bulk on line and everything else I can take or leave now.

mmgirish · 08/08/2016 19:20

Just got back, bought TONS of stuff in Primark, chocolate, kids shoes in the sale in clarks, calpol, cold/flu medicine, bras, toys, kids books and children's clothes.

habibihabibi · 08/08/2016 20:07

Did a raid deserted outlet yesterday and snapped up bargain trainers and out of season wear for kids and DH. Moved on a big discount store for toys to stash for xmas and some school essentials .
Had to buy another suitcase !

In UK right now. Have had an Amazon delivery and been on raids to Boots and Sainsburys. Heading to John Lewis tomorrow. So far, have got:

Mitchum roll on
Clarke school shoes and trainers
Girls jersey cycling shorts for under school dress (cheap cheap in Sainsburys and puzzlingly hard to get in Abu Dhabi)
This Works heel cream
Sonicare electric toothbrush and replacement brush heads.
School stationery sets
Supernoodles
Kids socks and pants
Tassimo coffee pods
Stash of birthday cards

Need to get shortbread from M&S and a stock of Lego for birthday presents

Can't wait for JL - heading for Philosophy Amazing Grace shower gel x3 and some decent bras and pajamas for my 12 year old DS. Bras are for me of course..

ohdearme1958 · 09/08/2016 10:27

Ah yes. Mitchum. For me. I forgot about it

MyFriendsCallMeOh · 09/08/2016 22:08

Oh yes, the calpol melt type things and Panadol except I need to buy it one packet at a time so takes a while to stock up

MamaDuckling · 10/08/2016 23:12

So much stuff it's frightening.... It's my first summer home though!

Calpol/teething granules
Paracetamol capsules
Teabags without bloody drawstrings!
Kids shoes & clothes (sale bargains)
Swim toys
A few new kids toys
Clothes for me - also in Qatar and find the shops boring/overpriced there
Baking supplies
Face wipes (£7 per pack anyone?!)
Beakers/water cups for kids
Tupperware and lunch boxes
Ice packs (mini ones on sale in waitrose)
Ella's/Organix snack bars etc
Mitchum, obvs!
My make up/skincare stuff
50+ kids sunscreen
Scented candles
Photo frames and prints to fill the massive walls
Dyson fan and air purifier Shock for the toddlers room.... I wince when I think of the crap the A/C is pumping out all night long.

SoYouBetterRun · 10/08/2016 23:35

Remember to get your VAT back at the airport. Just saved $$$ in John Lewis.

I can't be bothered with the queue.

Globetrotter100 · 11/08/2016 06:16

Mitchum
Marmite
Oats
Bacon
Cheese
Twix spread for DS
Vitamins as everything here is imported and very exxy
Migraleve tablets

PrimalLass · 11/08/2016 06:38

My brothers went to Doha College Smile

Mum used to stock up on stuff from Boots. (Plus bacon and sausages but I understand that you can get them now.)

bigfriendlygiant · 11/08/2016 06:41

Calpol
Toys
Simple skin care
Aussie miracle
H&M basics
Children's clothes
Nappies - three times the price here
Food pouches - limited & overpriced here
Cards for all occasions
Books

PrimalLass · 11/08/2016 06:42

I once took the wrong case at the airport and had to go back and swap them a couple of days later. Was very glad that it wasn't the 'bacon and sausages' case ... Don't think the security staff would have found it so amusing!

Cockblocktopus · 11/08/2016 06:50

Books from Amazon
Make up from counters that haven't quite made their way to Perth.
Blank card sets from paper chase
Clothes for me. There seems to be a curious lack of mid prices casual clothing for adult women here. I don't want to shop at target or spend $200 on a top.

That's literally it. Food either doesn't taste the same any more after 13 years away (wtf happened to walker s&v?) or I can get it here. Or I've found an alternative I prefer.

CharlotteAndNoah · 11/08/2016 09:37

We are in Turkey and my Mum brings over alot when she visits but mainly

Cream crackers
Cheddar cheese
Prawn cocktail crisps
Marmite

Now we have LO shes bringing Nappy bags as they are soso expensive here & swim nappies as again these are expensive. I place an order on Boots for my Aptamil milk powders and she collects from the airside boots- that way we save around £6-7 on each box.

MamaDuckling · 11/08/2016 09:50

Oh yes, nappy sacks!!

CharlotteAndNoah · 11/08/2016 10:37

Lol they are almost £2 here for just 50!
35p in asda i'm told for a couple hundred odd and were good to go!!

My Mum and Nan got carried away though and i must have about 5000 nappy sacks on my changing table ConfusedGrin

habibihabibi · 11/08/2016 10:56

My over enthusiastic UK nappy sack buying for my eldest back in 2010 will keep my dogs in poo bags until their last tail wag on earth .

redexpat · 11/08/2016 11:13

We are still using the 2 for £1 nappy bags from poundland from last summer.

This October I shall be getting primarni pjs, cotton rich socks, multipacks of mini cheddars and liquid ibuprofen at the airport.

citychick · 12/08/2016 14:17

I can find most things I need in HK.
I do stock up on

Cheap multi packs of knickers from tesco
Paracetamol
Suntan lotion as it seems to stupidly pricey in HK
School shoes
Usually treat myself to summer clothes in uk sales

I grab a few waitrose magazines to scatter around our HK home snob !

KeramyJyle · 12/08/2016 20:47

Marmite
Swim costumes/trunks/rash vests (me and kids)
Long length trousers
Bras
Simple SPF 30 moisturiser
Shampoo&conditioner
Printer cartridges
Kindle for DS1. Hope that's a one off!!!!!

xinchao · 13/08/2016 01:12

Oh, so much stuff...

Underwear for all, clothes, shoes, make up, face creams, body wash, shampoo, medicines (most of Boots really), Lego, toys for Christmas gifts. Went a little crazy this year as we are in Vietnam (although shipping out soon) where everything is of dubious origin (in my opinion).

Love the heated clothes drier idea and looking into it now...

DeliveredByKiki · 14/08/2016 02:04

We're in the US and get a lot of visitors who bring us stuff - but we just came back from UK and France and brought home a LOT of very cheap very excellent rose wine

habibihabibi · 14/08/2016 03:09

Jealous Kiki
We aren't permitted to bring wind into Qatar .
I've just had to drink it all while abroad .................
