Hello.

We are a Japanese family living in a smaller city in France. My daughter is turning 16 this year and currently goes to an international school in the city. She is taking the IGCSE exams this May/June and after her exams, we are moving to Paris.

She wants to continue learning in English after moving to Paris, and is interested in switching to IB from British system although it is not fully decided yet.
So we are looking for an international school in Paris which has IB programme. If there is a good school which does A-level, we are interested in knowing it as well.
So which International School is the best in Paris?

Thanks in advance.

I think that's a good point.

It's a very good point, particularly in systems where the streaming which decides whether you get into university or not begins very early.

Sorry for sidetracking, OP!

Greetings again!

Actually, this time, I'm the daughter of OP :)
I wanted to say thank you to all of you for helping me a lot!

My school has started a day before yesterday, and I've had a discussion with the head of secondary about my future. After 15 mins of discussion, I have decided to take the A-levels. So all the discussion all of you and my mum had became kind of...needless now, but still, you guys helped me decide a lot so thanks anyway! If you guys didn't mention about BSP being good, I wouldn't have even thought of taking A-levels in Paris!

I've heard that if I am taking a scientific course at university, which I will probably do, I should have a deep and broad knowledge around the course. From what I've heard, for scientists, A-levels are better because one can take three sciences with maths, which is impossible to do in IB as it only allows up to two sciences. Additionally, I asked on The Student Room whether I should take IB or A-levels with my planned subject choice. The posters all said A-levels and according to one of them who has done IB, doing maths/physics/chemistry at higher levels whilst doing 3 other academic subjects (and not art) is very hard that no one has ever done it at his school.
My brain had said I should be able to have a decent knowledge on a range of subject. Yet at the end, I listened to my heart - "hey you, you always say you can't be bothered about this and that in language classes. Are you really be able to do two languages extra with more essays?" - and my answer was "No, probably not."... so opted for A-levels. Also thanks a lot to the head of secondary - he is the best maths teacher ever. (if he ever finds this thread..I love you and your school
