Well, a house down the road from us was on at just over a million about 6 months ago. It's now back on at 750......

The house I'm going to auction on today, was originally put on at 780, taken off the market and put back on as an auction, and we aren't willing to go much above 650, and the agent has indicated that that's the feedback on price he has had too. So. We shall see!

Ooh good luck frik!

11 on Friday sounds good Justa!

WhatSheSaid · 25/09/2013 00:59

A real estate agent friend told me about 80-90% of people at auctions aren't there to bid - usually just locals who want to know how much the house will go for. Auctions round here seem to have 50-100 people at them and only a few bidding. Agents like a crowd, makes them look really good at their job!

Off to look at frik's link :)

WhatSheSaid · 25/09/2013 01:04

Nice size house and so near the sea frik :)

The blurb re agents write though...that first sentence..."A precision presentation is the feature of this fine property's entry into the market, as well might be the case." Wtf does that even mean???

Frikonastick · 25/09/2013 01:17

Lol!!! I KNOW!!!! It's so funny

OP posts:
Frikonastick · 25/09/2013 01:19

Yes. It's a good location, good size section, building in very good nick. I don't love it or anything. I have given up on the idea that I will find a house and love it. Am now on board with buying a house then making it now I want it and then loving it!

OP posts:
Frikonastick · 25/09/2013 01:22

Oh and here the auction is at the agents offices, not at the actual house. So I may be the only one that turns up!

Well.

That was interesting!

There were about 15 or 20 people there in total, and two properties were being auctioned so I didn't know who was there for which. But, I was the youngest person there bidding by about 20 years. So I think first time, or even second time buyers in the market are indeed feeling the 20% pinch (from my sample of a whole one auctionGrin)

I stared the bidding off, I felt very brave! It was just me and one other bidder, we went up to 650 super quick and then the other guy went up to 670 and that was that!

What's interesting though, is that i could have gone higher, but when it came down to it, felt no urge to. And I actually feel relieved that we didn't buy it, so I guess it wasn't the one for us!

There is no hope for me.

I am considering making my own yoghurt because I have so much free time on my hands

The tipping point was buying a 400g tub of coconut yoghurt for DD2 today (she seems to be reacting to soy even though technically she isn't allergic to it). It cost 15 dollars!!! ShockShock

But seriously, my own yoghurt!? I think I need a stiff gin! Wine

No meet ups for me tomorrow I'm afraid.

DD1 is poxy Confused

Her timing of just before the school holiday is impeccable! Poor little mite is devastated because she won't be able to go to stay with MIL for 3 days from Sunday. .

If DD2 gets it from her, the timing of the last couple of weeks of lectures would be equally crap.

I thought I'd told the sickness gods that I didn't want any major illnesses striking before the end of November AngryAngry

Frikonastick · 26/09/2013 07:00

Oh no vvv!! Poor you and poor DD Sad
