Gosh I was grumpy this evening, wasn't I? Sorry about that! BlushBlush

I'm currently listening to DD2 sleep talking through the monitor (It appears her teddy has been naughty), while I sit up for a while with DD1. Poor DH has been banished to the couch for the night.

PMSL. I love it Justa.

Vvv- being grumpy is entirely justified when cleaning up vomit.

AngryBeaver · 16/09/2013 22:56

Builders report today.
Hope everyone is ok :)
I'm in bed,(incapacitated by the morning sickness!) and kids all have tonsilitis...fun fun fun

Does anyone know of a (cheap) good physio that doesn't need a doctor's referral? (Preferably North Shore, but am willing to go anywhere).

I've gone & hurt my shoulder (again), I suspect from lugging DD2 around when she was sick & clingy. I'd usually wait it out with painkillers, but it's my writing arm, and I'm in the last 8 weeks of my course so I can't afford the time to let it sort itself out (and I'm pretty sure the ACC doesn't cover "lugging children about" injuries, so cheap would be a bonus)

ConfusedConfused

More cheerful posts coming soon I hope, I'm due a few good days.

(AB poor you with the MS. I only suffered from all day morning nausea, and that was bad enough.

Justa - can you escape for a lie down in a dark room at all? I know it's a very stereotypical treatment for migraine, but all the people I know who get them say it really is the best thing to do, if possible.

Thank you so much Justa. Shall look into them straight away. Do you really think ACC would cover it?? That would be incredible (there are days when I truly love NZ Grin)

Yikes.

I've been meaning to ask how you are doing sibble.

OP posts:
AngryBeaver · 17/09/2013 21:48

Glad you feel better justa.
Can't open that link on here sibble, I'll look on pc later.

Building report (seems) good! Unofficially that is, haven't had it back yet.
Just the LIM to go, looking promising.

I'm feeling a bit better today, long may t last.
Dr rang yesterday, levels are good :)

My Mdwf gave me a form to go get a scan. But she wants me to say I've had spotting :( I don't feel comfortable doing that?
After everything, I don't want to temp fate, but also, feels wrong to lie?

I just kind of silently took the form. But the words "threatened miscarriage" and "bleeding" are not words I want to say.
Even if I said that the sonographer would want more info, surely.
And then I'd have to lie MORE. I would find that horribly uncomfortable.

I told a Mdwf friend in UK and she laughed and said "fuck it! You're over thinking, everyone does that to get extra scans! Just say it and get very scan you can!"

Mmmmm Confused

Sorry to just butt into your thread but am looking for some NZ move advice - and you look like the perfect lot to ask!
DH and I are moving to auckland (no idea where yet!) in nov, I have a job, he will find a job we hope fairly fast through contacts from when he worked there before 6-7 years ago. I'm 10 weeks with first DC.... So will be moving about 20 weeks.
We so far have done nothing towards the move as job only confirmed last week. Any tips on where to find furnished rents while we wait arrival of stuff, is furniture cheaper in uk or NZ? Should we bring with or buy out there? Any baby stuff I should bring with me - for example pram etc and last but probably most importantly - antenatal care and delivery... How does it work there? Is it all private? Google isn't helping me much!
Sorry again to crash in - am laid up with horrific Sickness ATM and suddenly having a panic about the move.

I'm sure others will be on with more practical advice later, but...

Baby vests. And babygros. You know the ones you pick up in a pack of 3 or 5 for half nothing in tesco/asda/wherever. I never saw them here (or if I did the quality wasn't half as good and the price was insane). I was very glad we had all DD1's old clothes packed away for DD2.

Actually as the others are sick of me saying if you are a tea drinker then just fill up your suitcases with tea, because life just isn't worth it without decent tea, and bless them, the kiwis just haven't grasped it yet WinkWink

WhatSheSaid · 18/09/2013 20:13

Hi wimwom

General advice is to bring EVERYTHING with you, it will cost more to replace than to ship. That includes furniture, clothes, everything you can think of.

Maternity care is free if you're a resident, citizen or on work visa of two years or more. Details here

www.health.govt.nz/your-health/services-and-support/health-care-services/maternity-services

You choose an LMC (Lead Maternity Carer) who does all antenatal care, is there for labour and birth and does a few weeks of post-natal visits too. It was actually really lovely having the same person from that first phone call at a few weeks pg till having a 4 week old baby - I was quite sad when I said goodbye to my mw.

Problem for you is that if you're not arriving here till 20wks pg you may find a lot of the mws don't have any spaces left, they get booked up early especially in busier areas. I think you can go under the care of a team of hospital mws if this happens - not quite the same continuity of care as with one mw.

I've had two dcs on the public system and thought the care I got was excellent.

You can go private if you want to, I know a few people who have, think a privAte obstetrician costs about $5K?

Where you choose to live may be affected by where jobs are due to commuting times etc. Furnished rentals are quite hard to find I think...search on Trade Me rental pages and put "furnished "in the search box maybe?

Bring tea.

We have recently had a uk food shop open up in tauranga, and I have been in there and BEGGED them to stock tea. Actually, this has reminded me to go in there are harass them again

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 18/09/2013 21:21

frik you know there's lots of British food shops in Auckland that deliver around the country for not very much? I'm pretty sure they will all stock tea :)

Frikonastick · 18/09/2013 21:44

The thing is, the tea I want none of them stock. It's twinings organic afternoon tea in a black box, and I'm trying to convince them to order it in for me. I said I would take 13 boxes if I have to!
