Ah Frik, that sucks. I don't know about importing. Have you tried a crystal one? I will keep an eye out for Sanex though.

How was the lamb shank?

lollystix · 24/03/2013 09:25

www.britishsupermarketworldwide.com/acatalog/Sanex-Dermo-Hypo-Allergenic-Roll-On-Deodorant-50Ml.html

just googled this bunch. You may have to smell for a couple of weeks

frikonastick · 24/03/2013 09:35

Lolly those are all roll ons which I can't use :-(

Lamb shank was fantastic! Much to my surprise

lollystix · 24/03/2013 09:53

Doh ...should have read your post properly. I feel Sad for your armpits.

WhatSheSaid · 24/03/2013 18:35

That's a tricky one frik. Aerosols can't be sent even by sea mail can they? Not sure what to suggest.

thelittlestkiwi · 24/03/2013 19:16

I'm allergy girl too so I feel your pain frik. Have you tried asking a dr or pharmacist? My mother is very anti parabens as these have been linked to breast cancer so uses these:

I use Dove- a lot of their products in fact as I am allergic to so many things. I struggle with shampoo and conditioner. I have also used this company: www.gonative.co.nz to buy moisturiser bases.

Thanks guys, am wondering if I can persuade the South African shop to bring them in for me if I am prepared to take a carton of them or whatever is the minimum amount in the meantime will check out links, thanks

Justa, they would just return it to my mom as they X-ray everything before it gets on the ship.

vvviola · 25/03/2013 01:52

DH has just now because god forbid we'd plan in advance decided we should go away over Easter. Anything further than about 2 hours is chaos and not worth doing for a long weekend, and 2 hours south brings us to MIL's house. So we're looking at heading north - except, so are all the people who were organised months ago. ~sigh~

I shall be spending the majority of this evening looking at motel websites I suspect, and not getting very far... Hmm

thelittlestkiwi · 25/03/2013 01:57

I'm jealous vvviola. DH is buggering off going away to Europe for two weeks leaving on Easter Sunday. And predictably, I did not get my weekend away beforehand.

Have you tried travelbug.co.nz? Or wotif?

I may need some hand holding and wine while doing 14 days solo. Sob.

WhatSheSaid · 25/03/2013 04:10

Have you thought about a bach vvviola or do you prefer motels etc?

Wees in the toilet and money back from the taxman - 2 of the finest reasons in the world to celebrate.

Can you get a caravan for 2K?

WhatSheSaid · 25/03/2013 05:04

Oh, 2K sterling. I was thinking it was $2K.

Lovely news justa! Congrats to DS especially :-)

Vvviola you have my sympathies, for me Easter is the worst holiday to go away over. And littlest you will be fine. Better than fine, awesome even. You will see. I always dread DH going away and then when he actually is away, I'm all like, huh, this is actually not so bad! Of course, I just have the one DD

frikonastick · 25/03/2013 06:07

Also, what's with the kilojoules on packets instead of calories? I can't work out a flippen thing. Also, just checked on the google and apparently I've prob only burned about 230 calories in an hour of kayaking. Hardly seems fair!!!

vvviola · 25/03/2013 06:16

We prefer motels really - partly in the hope of a playground or something. Our biggest problem though is DH being on call for work and so Internet access is crucial. We found lovely cottages at Mangawhai - with a pool and playground (only available Friday & Sat, but it's so close it would have been fine). But no Internet at all - closest was Internet cafe 10 minutes away! So it was a no go Hmm

We shall keep looking though!

Hurray for wees justa! Fantastic news! money news great too - plus caravan might be a good use of extra money, if you are caravan people. Saves on lots of accommodation issues... wonder if I should suggest it to DH

Great news Justa! Whoop for the wee's! I've heard that it can be cheaper to ship in a caravan.

Frik- this will be my 8th and 9th week solo in the last twelve months and I am rather over it tbh. I know I can manage but it is quite lonely. And we have no plan B if I get sick which is slightly worrying. I must get organised and sort out some nights out so I stay vaguely sane.

Vvviola- Could you share the link for those cottages? They sound cool.

Oh hell no littlest, that's crazy! Does DH need a kick in the pants? Or is it just one of those years where best laid plans and all that?

DH was in syria for 5 months commuting, he was away for two weeks at a tme with only 48 hours at home. It was pure hell. I swore never again. But, I did have a maid which you would think helps, but she didn't speak a word of English and I had a little baby that I hadn't a clue what to do with..... Ahhhh, good times.

thelittlestkiwi · 25/03/2013 08:09

Five months sounds truly awful Frik. I have said that this year is not to be repeated or we will have to move back to the UK although I really don't want to. A kick in the pants would be much appreciated. I sulk and it does no good.

meerkate · 25/03/2013 08:44

Ooh, justa, great news re the unexpected windfall (AND the toilet breakthrough!). We keep a caravan in West Wales and love it, I thoroughly recommend it as an investment - ours cost exactly 2K sterling, in fact! DH refuses point blank to tow it around (is still in denial re being 42) and it's actually not safe to do so, it's pretty dodgy on its wheels, but we keep it in a farmer's field there all year round, in Pembrokeshire, and I can't tell you the bliss of having graduated from canvas to something with four walls and a roof Grin go for it! littlest, commiserations. DH is away for two weeks shortly too, sigh, though I am in a much better place re such absences now the kids are much older - I basically had to forbid them when they were younger (but he doesn't travel much for work, unlike your other half, and frik's in the old days, by the sound of it!)
Still around zero degrees here, with slushy grey piles of old snow on the pavements now, and the usual brooding sky! Nice Grin
