Sorry to be bumping this months later- but I have a couple of questions about Singapore:
Where ARE all the kids?! I am being tongue in cheek BUT I must say it was only after most of a Saturday in and around the central area (Farrer Park inwards) that it occurred to us that our DSs were the only 9-11 year olds in evidence! Saw more DCs out and about at 11pm- what time does school start and end? We saw secondary kids in uniform on the MRT at 10pm on school nights! I can only assume the DCs spend much of their time around their homes rather in the centre?
Then yesterday we spent a day on Sentosa, and again, whilst there were kids around, the vast majority of our fellow visitors were family groups, or single-gender groups, but of adults!
Finally, when it comes to housing, do people choose to live in racially segregated areas (IS there choice?)? I mean, are there Chinese blocks and Malay blocks, for example? What language do state schools teach in?
Other than a stay with a local Chinese family 25 years ago (almost in 'another' Singapore!), my family spend 4 days 'transiting' Singapore last month, and we had a great time but my curiosity about the racial separation (or lack of?) and where the DCs are has been piqued!
Thanks!
