@balkanscot so very good to see you, and to read that the Enhertu is working for you!

@EachandEveryone I feel the same re cooking - it's such a chore lately! I did have a lightbulb moment this evening & use the air fryer to cook several (small, defrosted) chicken breasts in around 13 mins - long enough to cut some salad and get wraps/other toppings out. Not sure what I'll do in it next - probably not tomorrow's gammon 🤔. I like a glass of wine - I'm 100% certain I shouldn't drink as much as I do but 🤷‍♀️. Like I tell anyone who comments on my enjoyment of a glass or two most evenings...I highly doubt the alcohol will get me first.

@PrincessFluffyPants I tend to find that if I stop, everyone else stops to do their own thing. I have to be the one to say "no, I'm ok to do X" fun thing/walk round a city all day/camp festival barrier in 30° heat, or we'd do bugger all.

Speaking of camping barricade - we've booked to see Keo (they have 6 songs, veery new to releasing their music) & Gurriers (think Kneecap but not quite) next month. They're both support for Martial Arts at the Skatepark in Manchester. Gurriers barrier was brutal last time we saw them - how I maintained an upright position I do not know! Dd wants to see if we can get barrier again for those two...then drop back ready to get the 2nd to last train into Sheffield, then last train from there back to home. I hope the Skatepark is where we think it is, ten mins walk out the back of Piccadilly station!

@SewingBees how's your back? Did you seriously go to Ikea and just exchange a curtain pole?? You're a better woman than me!

LL's mate turned up to paint this morning...late. That's a story in itself!

I cook gammon in the air fryer :)

@lucysmamits really good. (Not like the pizza 😜) I use this recipe https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/air-fryer-gammon

I use our air fryer for everything. I don’t have a photo of the gammon but here are 2 roast beef meals I used the air fryer for

We went to an American bbq restaurant with our friends last night and we said ‘we’ll do the combo for 2 and some sides please’ our friends say ‘yeah that sounds great let’s do that’ to the waiter. 40 minutes later 2 sharing platters, 2 bacon bites 1 thing of poutine arrives. We took 90% of it home. We thought we’d ordered 1 sharing platter between the 4 of us 🤦‍♀️😱I’ve got 4 boxes of leftovers in the fridge

It was insanely good!

EachandEveryone · 27/07/2025 14:57

Does anybody watched that daft comedy Mandy? Probably just me. Anyway the last thing I watched last night was her getting butt surgery so that she could look like Kim Kardashian in Bolton. She went to Turkey and had it done in the back of a kebab shop he injected lamb fat into her and her bum wouldn’t stop growing.

amyway today I’ve fancied a kebab since I woke up so I ordered one with a salad from a Turkish restaurant. I won’t eat lamb I just can’t stand the thought of it. Anyway it turns up beautifully presented but it’s lamb. And I looked at my order and I had ordered lamb, it was bloody delicious but I’m not doing it again. It just goes to show how things sink into your brain before you go to sleep. I think i will watch a comedy every night from now on,

I’ll need it this coming week. Scans on Tuesday and Wednesday.

lucysmam · 28/07/2025 09:59

How is everyone this morning?

I'm tired but I'm just about to get dressed & see if the girls are up to send to the shop. We need exciting stuff like bin bags & milk. I've decided to bake a birthday cake for their dad too - hopefully I still have the little racecars I used many years ago to put on the top - but I need some oreos & maybe sweets to put around it to turn it into a race track. Should be simple...hopefully!

(I somehow managed not to be organised enough to bake over the weekend & always make birthday cakes 🙈).

lucysmam · 28/07/2025 11:29

Hmmm, small problem...I.packed the cake tins...and the weighing scales 🤣. Looks like they're picking up a cake mix unless you have to weigh something to add to it!

I considered that, but then couldn't find the little racecars I bought a few years back anyway. So now I have galaxy minstrels & oreos (to be tyre bumper things), but no cake. And I forgot to print chequered flags while I was using the printer earlier 🤷‍♀️. So, all in, a successful day here 🤣

🤣 at that point I’d be in the bath eating the minstrels

Cake is rescued 🥳 the girls went to big Asda for me ... not my finest but it's a birthday cake 🤣

That's a great cake. It's all about the effort. I currently have 7 multi coloured sponges in my freezer waiting to be made into a rainbow cake for my daughter's party next week.

That’s a fab cake! I’m just waiting for hospital transport to take me for an MRI. And tomorrow I have all the rest at 8am so god knows what time the transport will come at.

Im really tired these days I think it’s because of all the HCP’s I have every morning it’s a lot of waiting around. I was just napping when a cleaner I’d never met turned up and I couldn’t remember booking her! She’s just a lot of products my flat stinks of rhubarb!

lucysmam · 29/07/2025 16:19

@SewingBees I'm usually that organised that the cake would have been pre-baked and in the freezer, or baked at the weekend to decorate today. I managed neither but have put a note in my calendar at the beginning of next July to pre-bake or schedule time to sort it! You'll have to show us the rainbow cake 🌈...I think I made one once 🤔

@EachandEveryone do the HCP's come early? I'm guessing you're not keen on rhubarb?

I think I'm tired because of lack of alarm/routine. You'd think I'd learn by now - it's the same every break from school!

SewingBees · 29/07/2025 17:29

The last time I made a rainbow cake it was for my daughter's 6th birthday. I'd never attempted anything like it and was afraid it would be a disaster in front of her whole class and parents. To my surprise it was a triumph.

I've dug out the rainbow cake topper I used last time, turned the 6 upside down and voilà! Perfect for her 9th birthday.

EachandEveryone · 29/07/2025 20:31

i love rhubarb but she used half a bottle of method that’s why it smelt so much..
they cancelled my scan last minute.

they also tried to reschedule tomorrows pet and ct scam but I said I’d rather not.

the runs still haven’t gone every I eat just comes out. My dr says I am allowed to use immodium even though online it says I shouldn’t with immunotherapy. I’m going to have some now and again in morning or else I’ll be going for my scan in a nappy!

@PrincessFluffyPants any improvement with the drug side effects?

This second cycle of Ribociclib has been better, I’ve been on top of using the anti-nausea tablets and the mouthwash and taking things very easy, just coming to the middle of week two now. We went out last night with friends and unfortunately the rich food and/or unknowingly drinking spoiled milk in my tea yesterday had me running to the loo as soon as I got home, I should have known better. I’m wiped out today, just plonked on the sofa for the past two hours. I’ve got another blood test coming up in a few days so I’m going to keep well hydrated and hope my WBC behave themselves for it. Luckily, dinner is just going to be pasta so my husband will sort it when he gets home. I’m a bit disappointed in myself as I’d had a great day yesterday, really rallied, very little pain for a change, and was able to go out to do a bit of weeding twice for half an hour at a time too. Days like that make me think I might be able to go back to work soon and then I get a day like today which feels like a bit of a setback. I’m sure tomorrow will be better.

How’s everyone else doing?
