The calm before the storm

I previously posted under the title: I'm not OK - about my lovely DH with stage 4 bowel cancer.

We heard a few weeks ago that DH has refractory disease - basically the chemo is not working. We see the oncologist this week for the results of the latest MRI and hopefully a new plan but it's not looking good.

I am sitting here in the sunshine and the birds are singing but I know we have dark days ahead. I'm trying to stay strong for the family.

Just needed to share with you good folks as can't really talk about this in RL.

So sorry to hear your devastating news Willowkins. Another stranger on the internet sending you my respectful condolences. I lost my brother earlier this year to this horrendous disease. He took every treatment and tried so hard to stay with us. My very best wishes to you and to your family.

You know that people will still be here for you when you need them Willowkins, I have followed your posts and am sorry that my own life was too raw to help support you more.
I hope you are managing to look after yourself a bit at the moment.

def still here willow for whenever you need anything. There is something very comforting about a thread where people 'know' you - I'm still on the elderly parents one despite mum dying on Nov 1 for that very reason. Somehow, it's about knowing that people care, even if you dont actually know them - and sometimes being able to say the unsayable. To say 'I hope you are all OK' is stupid, but I hope you and the young willows are doing as best you can and managing the odd smile between the tears xx
