Apologies for double post, laptop having a bit of a moment...

Bravelittlesoldier · 26/10/2014 20:35

Have been thinking of you too Biscuits-we're still in hospital after DS' transplant...Seven weeks today Sad. He developed mucositis too and it looked so painful so my heart goes out to you. He also developed VOD so has been a long process - he was definitely the exception rather than the rule though. Most of the other kids got out between days 21+ and 28+...Hoping you will be feeling better very soon and those lovely cuddles helped, x

biscuitsandbandages · 27/10/2014 09:20

Biscuits- I really hope you pick up soon, and that your dd is quickly on the mend as well.

You've had a rough old time of it. From seeing how things have gone with my db, it does seem as though the landscape can change pretty quickly though. His leucocytes and neutrophils didn't start to rise until about day 9 post transplant, and then the next day dropped back to zero, but then increased rapidly and he's actually just gone home! This is two weeks post transplant! I believe his consultant said his blood count needed to be 20% of normal to go home, so obviously he's got a way to go yet and who knows what other barriers may pop up, but it seems reassuring to know that the body can turn things around so fast.

Thinking of you loads and hoping you turn your corner soon

magimedi · 29/10/2014 10:54

biscuitsandbandages · 30/10/2014 03:28

Wow lines! That's amazing. I know they expect me to be here in 2weeks time at least because it was mentioned again today in the context of when to change some iv meds over to by mouth instead.

Mouth is slowly improving but throat and swallow still as bad. They started me on daily anti fungus treatment yesterday as I keep having temperatures and they arent sure why. Dont know if it will help or not. I know the higher dose is making me feel pretty bad.

OrangeyTulips · 30/10/2014 05:50

hopefully the antifungal will knock the temps on the head and your mouth will continue to improve. having a sore throat and painful swallow is just miserable Sad
I really feel for you. Clearly it's keeping you awake. I'm willing the antifungal to be the difference. We're all thinking of you.

Legionofboom · 30/10/2014 11:43

I used to know a lovely old man who was a WW2 veteran and he had been through some tough times. He used to say 'sometimes the only way to get from A to B is to go via all the other letters of the alphabet. It makes everything a whole lot more difficult but the important thing is that you get to B in the end'

It sounds like your road to recovery is taking you the long way round the alphabet but you will get there in the end biscuits.

Sending positive healing thoughts to you and the littlest crumb Flowers

ajandjjmum · 31/10/2014 16:48

1st November! Another month down and edging ever-closer to the end of a dreadful and difficult year for you, biscuits (aside from the birth of your beautiful DD, of course; little miracles happen even in dark times!).

A new year is dawning. And faith is a bird that feels dawn breaking and sings while it is still dark.

Have faith, biscuits. Stay stale.

BehindLockNumberNine · 01/11/2014 11:37

Stay stale biscuits xx

OrangeyTulips · 01/11/2014 12:06
