Cyclist has injured pedestrian

Can anyone advise on what to do?
Cyclist was at fault.
Accident happened in Ireland.

The pedestrian has asked the cyclist for money rather than going through the courts.

So the pedestrian is trying to blackmail the cyclist into not taking it further?

I'm in Ireland too, and I wouldn't advise your relative to pay. What's to stop the person taking the money and then suing them anyway?
