How can local coffee shop navigate this without falling foul of Equality Act.

A local coffee shop i go to regularly has a customer who is a dad (not single dad as i previously thought) with a daughter with SEN. On different occasions she has taken food from other peoples tables, Smashed cups and the latest Picked up a bucket of water which had been used to clean the floor and threw it everywhere including over a table. Barista told me she saw the girl eyeing up the mop and bucket but "i wasnt quick enough" Surely it was her father who wasnt quick enough. Its dangerous. What if the water had gone into the electrics. The staff here are lovely. Is there away of navigating this or do they just have to continue to deal with it.

About the muffin, I would have said she can have that one now she's touched it, and you can buy me another one.

If other customers complain to the staff it would give them ammunition to say the girl and her father are too disruptive and are banned.

Exactly Which proves im not obsessed and dont think about it all the time. Which is what YOU tried to imply by gaslighting and saying it was two months ago

They can chuck the dad out (and ban him) for failing to keep his child under control. He's the responsible individual here, and it's not disablist to expect him to prevent his daughter from causing havoc.

If you’re the cafe staff, get your manager to sort it out, and put your mop and bucket away.

If you’re the cafe manager, have a word with the father about supervising his child more closely, and with your staff about not leaving cleaning stuff around.

If you’re a customer, mind your own business as the cafe staff / management are clearly fine for the father and daughter to be there.

Are you fucking joking. Of course i havent been stewing about them for over a year. I have been dealing with other things in that time. Like my dads cancer and my own investigations for bowel cancer. What a fucking stupid thing to say.

If you don't think the situation is safe you can contact the HSE yourself, stop going there, speak to the manager about their health and safety, buckets of water shouldn't be left around unless it was being used immediately, that's a hazard for everyone. Presumably the cafe are happy for them to be there but she's not their responsibility.

Hoppinggreen · 12/06/2024 15:25

I am not sure what you are trying to achieve here OP
I hope you and your Father recover well

Melonportal · 12/06/2024 15:26

I think you should probably just let the cafe deal with it.

I really don’t know what the aim of this thread is OP.

You of course know that the staff don’t have to continue to put up with cups being smashed and buckets of water thrown around 😳

Why do you need to find the solution, though? You’re not staff. They haven’t asked for your help. They don’t need to take onboard anything you find out on their behalf. You don’t know what actions they have taken or advice they’ve sought.

Deebee90 · 12/06/2024 15:48

It’s nothing to do with you. If you don’t like it don’t visit the cafe. You aren’t the owner or a staff member and they haven’t asked you for advice. You need better things to do with your time .

JenniferBooth · 12/06/2024 15:52

Fine I shoudnt have posted it.

I work in a coffee shop and I honestly would tell them to leave. It's a business at the end of the day and its employees have the right to a safe working environment.

JenniferBooth · 12/06/2024 16:22

And yet PBPs who keep coming back here arent obsessed. Lol

Exactly this.

OP - why you are so interested in this little girl? It sounds like she needs some compassion (as well as some closer supervision)

I'm no expert but I would say that the safety of employees and customers would trump the rights of said child

MrsCarson · 12/06/2024 17:31

I think CCTV is in order with a sign on the door. That way he can't come back and say she wasn't doing anything wrong, he was watching, you are all ableist and start a bun fight.

I’ve seen @lateloverofcelery on several threads now leaving a significant amount of comments that have been deleted. I wouldn’t be responding to anything this person leaves as they are clearly trolling
