Do I need a new will?

DH and I made mirror wills many years ago, when we lived at a different address and before we had DCs. We now have 2 DCs, live at a different address named in our wills, and my sister (mentioned in the wills) also has a different address to the one stated in our wills.

The wills did say that if we have DC in the future, then XYZ should happen to them/our estates.

Do we need to make new wills? Or are the current ones sufficient?

You don't need a new Will just because of the address changes.

The issue of guardianship of your children can be done through a letter of wishes. Again, no need for a new Will or codicil.

can’t believe he’d leave the DC destitute though, unless he had a personality transplant upon remarriage.

Unbelievable as it sounds, there are plenty of threads here in MN where one partner dies, the other remarries, leaves everything to the new spouse and then dies themselves.

New spouse is then under no obligation to make any provision for the children of the original marriage.

I'm quite sure no one ever intends for that to happen but nevertheless, it happens.

We have simple mirror wills. Children now adult / near adult, plus I now have a part interest in assets from 'early inheritance' that could go directly to my children. I do need to update my will! OP, it sounds less necessary or urgent.
