Hi there,

My little boy is 4. His dad and I have been separated for all of his life. He recently won what he wanted in a contact order in court to take my son a 3.5 hour drive away for a 1 night weekend stay every fortnight. The thing is, the father is a really reckless driver and cafcass wouldn't believe me without any evidence. I know he will be driving that long drive at 100 mph or faster with my wee man in the car. My son is already saying his daddy drives too fast.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do? It's so difficult to prove, but I know it's going on and it's putting my wee one in danger ????

Really pipkinhartley how would I check this?

He tells me he is insured. Is it possible to insure yourself without being honest about previous offences if you once lost your licence and had to take the test again? It's a good point but if I asked him he would just lie so not sure how I would check it is legitimate.

Hey OP

I'd be concerned too. Not getting involved in bun fight on the thread but just wanted to say could you use a new bag for your son and conceal a device inside the lining to track the speed? maybe call 101 first to ask their advice? Good luck.

This is getting beyond ridiculous now.

butterflygirl15 · 10/08/2015 22:20

you can check is a car is insured at the website AskMid

Bellemere · 10/08/2015 23:52

Do you really think any judge is going to look kindly on concealing a tracking device on a child when in the care of the other parent?!

pretend · 11/08/2015 05:07

They'll think you're bonkers Confused

I'm not sure if this is good advice but in your situation is probably phone crime stoppers give them his number plate and his potential route and tell them you fear he will be speeding, I'd repeat this for every journey you know about. I'd be very worried in your shoes. So, although you didn't ask yanbu.

GT, sorry for late reply, as butterfly says,
m.askmid.com/mt/www.askmid.com/mobile/
You will need to put in your registration and other car registration and it will tell you which company has currently insured that car (it's essentially a site to check to see if the other driver is insured in incidents such as accidents, but you only need to put the registrations in and you will get an email response almost immediately)
I'd probably also advise against hidden tracking devices, any information gained would likely be inadmissible in Court.

When I was a kid, those incapable of amusing themselves used to ring doorbells and run away. Now, they have internet connections.
