police using house for stakeout

Police arrived this morning and asked if they could start using our house to stake out address down the street. Thought that only happened in Hollywood movies.

We have agreed but it will be weird having police based here looking out of bedroom window.

I hope you've hidden your handcuffs.

Just saying.

Don't want any unfortunate mix-ups.

Are they paying?

DooinMeCleanin · 12/05/2011 15:56

Ooh how exciting. Are you meant to be posting about this on the internet?

RGPargy · 12/05/2011 15:57

Who cares!! We want the dirty low down!! (and yes, are they paying you?!!)

freaky991 · 12/05/2011 15:58

i have changed my details. ;(

OP posts:
freaky991 · 12/05/2011 15:58

are they supposed to pay you?

DooinMeCleanin · 12/05/2011 15:59

Oh good. We wouldn't want the neighbours getting their hitman out to you Grin

So what's occuring then?

freaky991 · 12/05/2011 16:00

nothing as yet, hasn't started yet. We don't know who they are observing or what they have done. They cannot tell us. I am worried about retaliation but did not want to refuse

MeRightYouWrongMeBigYouSmall · 12/05/2011 16:00

well you can tell them from me it was my wheelie bin in the first place!

freaky991 · 12/05/2011 16:02

Must be something major to go to all this bother.

OP posts:
RGPargy · 12/05/2011 16:03

Drugs raid perhaps??

freaky991 · 12/05/2011 16:04

Maybe. As long as no one finds out it is us. Feel like moving :(

Well I would assume they'll be in jail after the raid?

freaky991 · 12/05/2011 16:07

I will when it all kicks off. The person we think they are watching does not have the kind of friend you want to be on the wrong side of.

You're allowed to refuse! I was asked (many years ago) when I lived opposite a rather seedy pub. I refused as I was a regular in the pub and it was highly unlikely that they would have arrested every single drug dealer/user in there as that would have involved taking 99% of the customers. I didn't fancy my chances if I were ever discovered. I also didn't want them to find my stash Wink

If we do refuse, will they not just get a warrant

OP posts:
freaky991 · 12/05/2011 16:10

Their ID looked genuine.

OP posts:
GollyHolightly · 12/05/2011 16:11

They can't get a warrant to use your house, assuming you've done nothing wrong? Just say no if you're worried!

I am worried. Can't really help it. There is always a risk of them finding out.

GollyHolightly · 12/05/2011 16:13

I'm not a legal bod, but there was absolutely no come back on me when I refused. They didn't even tut.
