DD1 started primary school in 2006 and DS2 will leave in 2019. 13 years without a break!

2012 will be lovely though as all 4 DCs will at school together - Reception and Years 3, 5 & 6.

I had 11yrs with the dses, then a one year gap followed by another 7yrs with dd1, a gap of two yrs then six more with dd2. So that's 24 yrs non-consecutive years. Dd2 has gone to senior school a year early so it should really be 25 yrs in all.

I've had dc in school since 1980 and dd2 leaves school in 2014 - that'll be 34 years of school reports and sports days!

juuule · 28/07/2008 13:13

I've just finished 18y but would have had another 5y to go if my younger children weren't being home-ed.
So that would be 23y at primary altogether.

lumpsdumps · 28/07/2008 20:43

DS1 started primary in 2000 and my youngest will be leaving in 2011, so 11 years of consecutive primary school for me.

Janni · 28/07/2008 21:06

15 - and I only have 3 kids. Very poor planning

AbbeyA · 29/07/2008 08:25

I only have 3 DCs and 16 years Janni- it makes you wonder how many you could clock up with a few more!

misscutandstick · 29/07/2008 09:06

DS1 is 15... so started in 1995.
DS2 started the year he left, and all the others have followed. DS5 will start nursery in 2009, and finish 2017...

thats... err ... OMG!!! 22yrs. consequetively

misscutandstick · 29/07/2008 09:08

22 yrs of primary school and i still cant spell consecutively!

bumpybecky · 29/07/2008 16:13

I'm 6 years into a 17 year stretch couting yr R to yr6 only got 4dc but have the added excitement of the three tier school system, so we get to change schools after yr 4. Well that's how it works now, who knows by the time #4 finishes!

I'm especially looking forward to 2012 when dd1 will be at upper school, dd2 at middle school, dd3 at lower school and ds at pre-school. Four lots of fetes, parents evenings, raffles etc etc

IdrisTheDragon · 29/07/2008 16:25

My mum did primary school runs from September 1980 until July 1994. There's only my sister and me but a 7.5 year gap between us so it was 14 years continuous primary school runs

catweazle · 29/07/2008 20:13

Only 9

We managed to have 4 in the same school for 1 year, then 6 years of 4 different schools. That was fun. Different holidays and inset days; 4 lots of parents evenings...

If DD2 doesn't leave school at 16 (they won't be allowed to, I think?) I will have a bus pass and child benefit at the same time

saffy202 · 29/07/2008 21:24

I've just finished doing 11 without a break. Luckily for me the children went to a first school not a primary so they leave at 9 years old

WilfSell · 29/07/2008 21:27

DS1 is starting Y5 and DS3 is nearly 1 so guess that makes about 16 years in total!

zaphod · 29/07/2008 21:31

OMG 18 Years!!!!!!! It seems like forever when you add it all up.

WilfSell · 29/07/2008 21:33

oops, only just noticed this was in larger families... with only 3, not sure I count. Another one who just badly planned things...

notthebubblyseaweed · 30/07/2008 01:38

Too scared to think in these terms.

Already TERRIFIED by dear dear friend who pointed out that as dd1 turns 20 dd2 turns 13. Adds up to a whole lot of teenage angst.

Sandwiched in between are two rather unfortunate boys.

AbbeyA · 30/07/2008 07:56

I hadn't seen that it was on the larger families thread. I have just heard of a family of 10 children-oldest 27 and youngest 5yrs-I wouldn't even like to work out how many years that is!

sugarpear · 30/07/2008 08:33

My ds1 started in 1994 and have 6 kids so its been constant and ds 3 starts in september but dd3 doesnt start till 2010 so she will be there till 2016.

So thats omg 22 years????

Is that right? Im only 35 now!

What a thought 22years of going to and from primary school!!

GentleOtter · 30/07/2008 08:54

21 years here. Big age gaps between dc so when one left primary the next was just starting.
Ds 2 will start primary just as dd is leaving secondary.

stitch · 30/07/2008 08:56

14, and i only have three kids.

struwellpeter · 30/07/2008 22:20

well, can't offer the 14 years that it would have been if ds3 had stayed for the juniors but after ten years of children in the infants I'm finding it hard to believe that dh doesn't appear to have 3.15pm engraved on his brain in quite the way that I do. This was my last year and I feel liberated! (well, at least until september and the realities of the next school.)

TheOriginalXENA · 30/07/2008 22:23

2002-2017 ... blimey how scary when put like that!

Mamazon · 31/07/2008 11:14

AbbeyA - you don't live near me do you? lol im eldest at 27 and my youngest DB has just turned 7.

milkybarsrus · 31/07/2008 14:30

1997-2016 it makes me feel faint even typing it!

goingslowlymad · 31/07/2008 14:58

1998 - 2016 for me, and that's assuming I have no more children. I fully intend on more, probably in 2 years time so can expect over 20 years of school runs. Wow. Feel so old and I'm not even 30 lol

GentleOtter · 31/07/2008 21:34

My ds1 started primary in 1985 and assuming ds2 stays on till 5th year it will be a total of 40 years of schooling and I will be 65 when it is over.
I've come over all faint at the thought.
