Any one else pregnant with baby number 5? I'm around 8 week 5 days!

I'm wondering how to tell the rest of the children as we haven't told them just yet!

How many kids do you want.

BabyUxX · 27/08/2024 16:38

Congratulations! Me too, I am 14+3 - this will definitely be my last haha

Muthaofcats · 27/08/2024 16:56

Wow what jobs do you do to be able to afford 5 children? Genuine question, we can barely make it work with 2 both working full time. I’m always curious how people from larger families do it, especially stuff like shoes, holidays, car, food etc.

mummymeerkat90 · 27/08/2024 21:13

Hey!
I think I am pregnant with #5.
I have irregular periods and only came off my contraception 2 months ago but I've had spotting which I'm not sure if it was ovulation or implantation and so I'm just waiting now.

I forgot how much of a killer this 2WW is. Sad

Kimbychick · 27/08/2024 23:26

Hey, congratulations @BabyUxX and @loopyluloopy .

I am 30 weeks pregnant with our 5th and final baby. The rest of my kids are so excited to meet their baby brother soon. How old are your other 4 kids?

Hope you are keeping well xx

Femme2804 · 27/08/2024 23:34

Interesting that no one ever answers the question about what jobs they do to be able to afford 5 kids….

Same, but like you, unless I knew I could provide for 5 kids, I wouldn’t do it, as I dont think it would be fair on my existing children (or the environment or society for having to foot the bill). But some people appear to feel that they are entitled to multiple children regardless of affordability.

It's none of your business.

They are discussing being pregnant, on a board about larger families.

If you don't like it, or don't agree with it you can hide just the board since it clearly pisses you off.

Haha you’ve told me everything I need to know :)

Ill enjoy paying for your children’s upkeep through my taxes…

My youngest (5th) is 17 now but it was affordable only because i am a childminder and so had no childcare costs plus DH worked full time.

Childminding is the perfect job for those that want larger families (though you need to space your own kids out so they don't fill up all your spaces!)

Congrats to all expecting number 5!

loopyluloopy · 24/09/2024 12:49

I work a corporate job in central London and my DH works as a manager for a retail company.

We go on holiday twice a year, own our house, kids are clothes and fed well. I don't see what people do for work is relevant? Just because you can't afford it, doesn't mean everyone else can't - everyone's circumstances are different.

Even if the child wasn't planned and you worked full time, you would just make it work?

Sarcastic comments about big families make people sound really bitter.

You probably don't pay enough in taxes to keep yourself and your own kids, let alone anyone else's.

Hope you manage to find the energy to work what with carrying that massive chip on your shoulder though, must be tiring.

Omnium · 24/09/2024 12:52

I am the number 5 child, grown up. Both my parents were teachers.
My parents are long gone now, and what a joy and comfort my siblings are, as they have been throughout my entire life.

We had such a fun childhood- although the age differences were most noticeable then. We all had our own friends and did our own things.

But as young adults and adults we have between us lived all over the world, but always gravitate back to each other. There is NOTHING I love more than getting together with all my siblings. All 5 of us, wasting the earth's resources, being a blight on humanity, leeches on society and benefit scroungers.

BeansMeansBeans · 24/09/2024 12:53

Congratulations to all Grin

I'd like a large(r) family one day, currently have 2. But have wondered - how does childcare work? Do you get a nanny? Two in nursery would be astronomical! But being a SAHM does not appeal as my babies have been very clingy

Entitled to multiple children? Wtf. If a couple wants a bigger family that's up to them. I have 4 and we both work full time. Don't have lavish holidays or fancy cars because I don't feel that they are a requirement. Think back to when you were young, most families had at least 5 kids regardless of whether they could afford them or not. Stop being so judgemental/jealous.

On the contrary, the reason I am curious is we both earn 6 figures and couldn’t manage 5 kids despite professional jobs so I genuinely don’t understand how people do it.

Omnium · 24/09/2024 12:55

Another jealous/judgemental moron here. Some people with big families both actually work full time and pay their own taxes so get off your high horse.

Zero judgement if people are funding it themselves, I just don’t understand how. If both working full time then childcare would require netting sums that only a tiny tiny proportion of society would be earning.

MissSmiley · 24/09/2024 13:00

I have five, everyone's circumstances are different. It's wonderful having a large family even if it wasn't always the plan. I had twins for number three pregnancy and then a surprise.

Maybe you should be asking for tips on budgeting and time management rather than making assumptions and looking down your nose at people then.
