Is a career possible with 4 children?

I have 3 lovely dc's are nearly 5, 2 and 5 months. I am already thinking about having another though DH is adamant 3 is enough. I have a professional job which I love though I only work 1.5 days a week. I have a childminder who will look after dc's when I go back to work but she definitely wouldn't have space for 4.
Are there any working mums with 4 or more out there? How do you manage? Would it be too much to juggle? I think a nanny would be great in theory but we live in the countryside and might struggle to find anyone suitable.

I have PILs who live 30 min away, my parents are much further, and effectively I can't ask either set of GPs for help with childcare though MIL would help out in emergency.

If my Dh changes his mind ( I think he might, he just finds baby days a bit tiring) would I be crazy to consider a fourth?

Sorry long post!

There's a book called 'the compleat woman'- about career women with 3+ DCs that you might find interesting.

I have five 15 down to 4 and a career. Childcare not so much of an issue now as older three independent. Pain when little two are ill but my husband and I just take turns at being off
The most useful thing I have ever done is get enough help in the house so that we can relax at weekends and evenings without stressing about catching up with housework
I love my job and also wish someone had warned me how much money they cost as they get older!!!!

I have 4 (13 down to 20 months) and work part time(2 and a half days) - I am fortunate that I work term time only - which means child care in the holidays is not an issue and have a fab childminder who has the littlest one all day and picks up from school for the others.

I have three (6, 4 & 2) and like Barbie I don't know anybody in real life who have children and both parents work fulltime.

It is possible but I think you need some good support be it family or paid childcare. Like onceinawhile says it gets stressful when things out of the ordinary happen like they all get chickenpox but not all at the same time but one after the other etc.

It definately gets easier in some ways when they get a little bit older and more independent but it gets harder in other ways. I'm definately starting to think how much my food bills will be in the future when i've got DH and three grown up sons. I too didn't think that far ahead handmedownqueen!

I am very late into this conversation but have six and work part time (with extra supply sometimes) as a teacher, It is a juggle and a massive effort but kids cost a lot!!! Am very lucky not to have to work school holidays though, that would be a nightmare!

I have 5 children who live with us 3 days per week and 1 child who lives with us 7 days per week and I work 4 full days per week.

DP works full time too.

My whole life feels like a military campaign though. Grin

I work full-time and have 2Ds with us FT and two DSSs with us 65% of the time. They go to different schools/afterschool provisions/nursery. Husband works FT too. Both of us travel. We spend a lot of time agreeing who can travel where on each day/week. Have a cleaner. Our parents will travel hours to help if we can't juggle. Husband has child friendly employer. I run own my own management consultancy business.

It helps to see the madness as a temporary situation. For example we're saving for me to take a year's sabbatical to support three of the boys either starting or changing scool or doing a big exam year in two years. Can't wait Grin
