Are there family disputes over whose chicken soup is best and closely guarded recipes?

Not in my experience, sorry to disappoint! Freely shared recipes, and most chicken soup is delish! (unless it is unskimmed, then it is too oily, or if they add chicken soup powder - can spot it a mile off, too artificial)

In my experience it's the opposite - everyone chimes in with "this is delicious! Maybe next time try adding XYZ" 😂 Maybe that's just my friends and family. We have a lot of opinions

Towerofsong · 07/06/2024 10:19

Oh, have I been doing life wrong?! 😂

Yes, I believe so. You need to keep up with how things are done nowadays!

@noblegiraffe it really was batshit. At least on the CITME board they try to disguise their antisemitism, respect for terrorists and wish to eradicate Israel. They do this to gaslight us, but at least they're doing it.

PurpleChrayn · 07/06/2024 11:05

I've done something extremely controversial and made pea and mint soup instead of matzah ball for Friday night dinner. I wonder if I should warn everyone before I serve it...

Definitely controversial, but sounds delicious!

(the thread is back and seems to still be in AIBU)

Anyway, I was about to report that poster for sock-puppeting so quite annoyed the thread has been hidden!

Report away!

Is it the one that begins with 'A'? The style seems familiar.

No, someone else. Never reported sock-puppeting before, do I just report one of the comments and then also mention the other username I suspect of being the same person?

Yes, that's how to do it. "Not a genuine poster" and add in any further details in box below if you think its helpful.

Thanks! I might be wrong about it but thought I'd flag it just in case

Sound!

I know one poster in another section admitted to using a different name for debate in other sections so they couldn't be linked to the section they use their original username in.

Tut, tut!

I think lots of people do that! I keep trying to do it but then messing up and using the wrong username 😂 I've been trying to have a different username for CITME and here from everywhere else because otherwise it can all be very outing. But as I said, I have yet to successfully actually create a "safe" username for other boards

Humdingerydoo · 07/06/2024 12:53

In fact, this current username was meant to be my safe one until I accidentally used it over on CITME a few months ago!

Season 4 Episode 6 GIF by Friends

YOU ARE WRONG AND HAVE SINNED! You are Jewishing wrong. We had grave concerns about my eldest for years as he did NOT LIKE CHICKEN SOUP. Thankfully, he has seen the (candle) light

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 07/06/2024 14:16

The only stereotype about Jewish people I've ever believed is their obsession with good food and feeding others 😂

DownNative · 07/06/2024 14:25

The pure arrogance of someone saying my view of PIRA means I don't "understand what was happening in Ireland at the time"!

I was only living it with my family! 🙈

Have to deal with that after work.

EllaDisenchanted · 07/06/2024 15:21

I’m still off CITME and a lot calmer for it.

chicken soup done and has floating knaidlach 😛😜 cholent is pre brown stage. It does not improve in appearance but does go soft and tasty. Tomato salad done as well.

They all look great to me.

I'm going have to give cholent a try. Would I be Jewishing wrong if I do it mid-week? (Don't answer.. I know) Grin 😆

I'm busy looking for a cholent emoji and this is the best I can do;

🍲

79Helene · 07/06/2024 23:55

My grandmother (French) made really lovely cassoulet quite regularly. If she was Jewishing she would just call the same dish cholent and tap her nose to suggest it was some kind of classified top secret recipe she'd made as a rare treat. And we'd be like we're not daft mate, this is your cassoulet with potatoes.

CloudyAgain · 08/06/2024 05:35

Love that @79Helene !

I might put cassoulet in my cooking rotation.

I've got to try cholent it's becoming a bit of a thing in my mind. I actually woke up early (hence why I am up) thinking 'I must ask @EllaDisenchanted if she uses legumes or oats in her cholent'.

noblegiraffe · 08/06/2024 12:30

That is incredible news. May they and their families find peace after that terrible ordeal and I hope that more are found alive soon.

Humdingerydoo · 08/06/2024 12:34

It's such wonderful news ♥️ Now to bring the rest of them home.

For those in Israel - I look forward once Shabbat is out to hearing what the mood is like in Israel right now ♥️

keenforhelp · 08/06/2024 12:43

Fantastic!

Overwhelming news.
