IVF/ICSI February 2025 🌟 ❤️

Hi ladies,

Starting early with this thread in hope some are on a similar time frame!

36yo, been trying to conceive for 2yrs. Severe MFI as well as AFC of 3 and AMH of 1.9pmol/l

First IVF cycle with ICSI ended with a total failed fertilisation - 4 eggs collected, all mature but no fertilisation.

We have now switched to long cycle and added in DHEA, COQ10, melatonin, vitamin D, omega 3 alongside our fertility vitamins.

I should start my period end of Jan; and then start down-regulating February with transfer hopefully late February if I’ve worked it out right!

Anyone else on this mental torture of a ride?

@BeSharpPinkDreamer @Poppycock84 how you both getting on test wise? Really hope there’s some positive news for you.

@Allnew2021 good luck for your test results, fingers crossed for you!

hows everyone else doing xx

spttc · 05/03/2025 21:09

@Quaver9 I'm waiting to speak to my consultant about FET. Speaking to him on Friday. Transfer hopefully end of March/start of April 🤞

How are you getting on

captainsmal · 05/03/2025 22:44

Day 6 of stims done. First scan Monday!

Hope everyone is doing well 🙏🏻 still keeping an eye on this thread for those who are still going 💛

RainbowFluff · 06/03/2025 14:31

Thanks @Poppycock84, I’m taking some time to think about next steps. I had the follow up call with my clinic today and as expected they said two cycles with no embryos was down to egg quality and recommended donor eggs. I’m not against that but when I raised my partner’s family history they just dismissed it. He’s now looking into private tests elsewhere so I’ll see what the outcome of that is. I keep reading about how the high levels of hormones in IVF can affect egg quality so I feel like I need to wait a few months before I do anything, but then the clock is ticking!

Happibara · 06/03/2025 14:58

@RainbowFluff that's a bit disappointing that they aren't willing to consider that anything other than your age may be wrong! Keep advocating for yourself, if you think tests should be done then I can't see why the clinic team are dragging their heels.

@captainsmal well done, and good luck with the scan. How do you feel? I remember that I began feeling a bit bloated and sore 5 days in.

@BeSharpPinkDreamer @Poppycock84 hope for good news for you soon ✨

@spttc fingers crossed that you'll get the green light for FET, end of the month will come before you know it!

We've scheduled a cycle review consultation for next Wednesday, we'll plan next steps.

To be honest I'm actually not sure if it's worth going ahead with another cycle, the statistics from our first aren't inspiring... so I think I need to ask someone data-oriented questions during the review.

Our plan B is to go with donor eggs, and abroad, as the waiting lists are much shorter than in UK. I'm considering dropping out of the own eggs route, getting a partial refund and just putting that money toward donor eggs. we'll see what the consultant has to say 😊

captainsmal · 06/03/2025 15:06

@Happibara yeah quite bloated/sore now tbh! Mentally good though! I know a couple of people who are going abroad for treatment with donor eggs this year, it seems to be a good option and they said it’s way less stressful as you get a bit of a holiday out of it so worth looking into 😊

Sounds like taking some time back, just a little not a lot and see how you feel may be good for you, but of course it’s so hard to do
that! In the meantime you can concentrate on healing detoxing I did accupuncture and cupping but whose to say what helps, maybe lots of water and most importantly just taking a break to allow yourself to live a bit again whilst getting husband tested and investigated so you are still being really proactive. I agree I honestly believe too many drugs are counter intuitive so maybe stick to mild/natural/natural modified protocol when you return. And more armed with more info on hubs xxx

Well I’m biding my time I’m currently 9dpiui and symptoms are mixed signals so this is the hardest yards. The clinic did call to check in on me which I felt was rather nice. Just laying around watching MAFS trying to snack healthily really. What’s the saying something about watching a kettle? Will let this thread (my cycle family) know what happens as soon as I know anything………. How are you getting on? Xxx

jadebz10 · 06/03/2025 19:05

Hello, I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread.
I'm 31, partner is 34. Been trying for 4 years. Have severe MFI (2.9million per ML, 3% morph and 19% motile). Plus on Tuesday, I found out my AMH is 2.6pmol which Im absolutely gutted about.
We have now been referred via the NHS to a fertility clinic in Nottingham and should hear from them soon.

I've just started CoQ10 again, along with a conception multi vitamin and Omega 3, as I'm aware I can't change my quantity, but hopefully can change the quality.
Wishing all of you lots of luck ❤️

Gagah · 06/03/2025 20:19

Sorry to hear the negative results for many of you. Such a tough and physical gruelling road.

finished my first cycle last week, which I found very tough, became v bloated and painful early on in the stims, 21 eggs, 17 mature resulting in, one “good” 3 day embryo frozen along with two average 5/6 day blasts.

Had to do frozen in the end as my oestrogen level peaked and I may have a polyp.

Got what felt like a discharge letter from the clinic with a sort of “get back to us when you know what you want to do” but I was expecting them to advise what’s next? Is that unreasonable?

This is all so new to us so I’m a bit lost. We’re doing IVF for MFI though I’m 37. Currently I’m on the fence about whether I do another round in the next couple of months to see if we can get a couple more embryos before trying FETs.

sending you all

spttc · 07/03/2025 11:05

@Gagah would this be your first baby? Do you want to try have more than one? If the answer to those is yes if it was me I'd do another egg retrieval to try get more embryos. Just so for the next baby you don't have to start this again, you'll be older etc.

I'm 38 (almost 39). I have a daughter I conceived naturally. This was my first round of ivf also. We primarily did ivf to extend our fertility as we think we might like 3 children. So the idea was - do it now, get a few embryos in the bank. If I was you, I'd do that I think.

It's strange they just sent you a letter. My clinic it's a phonecall so my phonecall with consultant is today and we're going to discuss what to do next etc

Thanks for this advice. No children yet. I think I'll likely do another round as I don't feel confident in these numbers for one, and we might like more than one and age is against us. I hope your first round has gone well.

I think I'm going to call them, I already responded to the email asking for a call and emailed the nurse earlier this week saying the same but haven't had any other communication since the ER last week other than to update on the eggs>embryos. I'm with Create, who have been okay so far but the drop off in communication post-ER is really strange!

spttc · 07/03/2025 15:54

@Gagah yeh ours went well thankfully. We got 5 embryos. We had them pgt-a tested - 2 were inconclusive because the clinic messed up the biopsy (🙄 but can be retested) - 3 were normal and all good grades. So we decided we didn't need another egg retrieval as we would be happy with 1 more baby 1/5 or 2 more babies 2/5.

I just got off the phone with my consultant and he wants to do natural cycle with minimal drugs for implantation so in that case..... implantation of 1st embryo I guess would be the end of this month 😬🤞😅

BFN for us so taking some time to feel sad before thinking about next steps and trying to be more positive. We have another embryo so hopefully can do a FET asap. This journey is really hard ☹️ Thank you to everyone who has supported on this thread it's really been a huge source of comfort and I hope nothing but good news for everyone going forward xxxx

captainsmal · 08/03/2025 20:16

@BeSharpPinkDreamer sorry to hear that 😢 I wish you all the luck with the fet whenever it goes ahead but hopefully you can take some time now to rest a bit and look after yourself

Poppycock84 · 09/03/2025 21:31

12dp iui and did test. Wasn’t what I wanted to see. Maybe still too early will test again in a couple days if my period doesn’t come which is due tomorrow- ish and have had all the signs and symptoms. Will still continue progesterone pessaries til then. Which feels like having to work hard in your job after you’ve just been sacked. What a head fuck! Feeling all the feels. Good luck to everyone still waiting and or planning next steps. I hope by hook or by crook everyone on here including myself gets a healthy baby very soon. ❤️

captainsmal · 09/03/2025 22:23

@Poppycock84 sorry to hear that, it may be too soon still but understand your feelings. I really hope it works out for you 🤞🏻

Quaver9 · 10/03/2025 03:51

@Poppycock84 & @BeSharpPinkDreamer so sorry, it’s so rubbish. I really hope next transfer is your sticky bean xx

@captainsmal best of luck for tomorrow for your, let us know how you get on xx

@Gagah welcome and sorry to hear about your embryo numbers, that must have been a sucker punch after a good egg collection - I hope you get in touch with clinic this week so you can set up your next steps, the letter seems very insensitive!

@spttc oh no I’m really sorry to hear about the biopsy - glad they can re do them - will you find out soon when you can next transfer?

@jadebz10 welcome. I found once I was in my clinic it all progressed nice and quick. Hope yours is the same. Your supplements sound good, I had proceive as the folic acid is better than most, high vit c & d too. My partner even through his tests were fairly good took impryl and the same coq10, vit d
, c and omega 3 as me too. Oh we also had a high b12! Best of luck for when you start xx

spttc · 10/03/2025 08:36

@Quaver9 well there's no need to redo them unless I have 3 failed transfers first so may not even have to. Yep transferring this cycle. Just waiting for period. So transfer is end of March ☺️

Thankyou lovelies when I say all the signs and symptoms I mean pregnancy ones.. That’s what’s so effed up about it. Urgh I’d love to drop a positive story on here so if anything changes for me, you’ll be the first to know.

Anyone here use injectable progesterone instead of pressaries/suppositories? Any experience

captainsmal · 10/03/2025 10:27

Hey everyone,
just got out of my monitoring scan and all looks good! I have 17 follicles, 7 are over the 17mm range (biggest was 20mm) and a handful more which may catch up by EC day. So I’m triggering tonight 😱 and EC weds morning! Just got to wait for a call this afternoon to let me know what time I need to trigger etc 😊 so happy with this news as Wednesday works out as a much better day in terms of DH being off work etc for it and logistically getting there and so on. I also had a progesterone blood test and I’ll get those results Wednesday, if that’s all okay I’ll be having a fresh transfer 🤞🏻 and they checked my womb and apparently my lining is nice and thick and triple layer (not sure what that means but I know it’s good 😅)
So yeah I’m happy with all of that and happy I only have one more injection to do tonight lol!

I'm doing it all. 2x pessaries a day and 2x injections. It's been fine mostly. Although I do feel really bloated and can only describe my breasts as engorged 😆

RainbowFluff · 10/03/2025 10:39

@Poppycock84 maybe it’s too early to tell, I’ll keep my fingers crossed although the progesterone unfortunately can cause some crazy symptoms too.

@BeSharpPinkDreamer so sorry to hear about your negative. It feels like such a lot to go through for a poor outcome, I hope you are ok.
