I'm planning to start my first round of ICSI with my next cycle - anyone else in the same boat and want some online company? Or anyone already been through this and got useful tips/advice?

@mlruirod thanks for sharing your experience. I’m sorry to hear about your MC. I think I am back on being cautiously hopeful for a couple more days.

that’s a great update this morning!! Fingers crossed for day 3 for you!

HopefulllHolly · 19/03/2024 11:38

@mlruirod thats a brilliant update! Yay!

AnnieStar12 · 19/03/2024 11:56

@mlruirod congrats on 10 fertilised, fingers crossed for the day three update!

Amazing numbers @mlruirod

Hope you are okay @Capybara95

@AnnieStar12 I got my update call this morning, 1 embryo has been frozen 🙂 so delighted I have at least one but the drop off is brutal 😔 they said they wouldn’t transfer ones they considered had extremely limited / zero chance of ending in a pregnancy. That it wouldn’t be fair on me to be set up for nearly certain disappointment. So I guess the lesson is they would have told me if there was anything with even a small chance of success, but in my case only 2 were viable despite 5 being alive. With one making it to freezing stage.

I’m hoping to progress straight away with the FET but all depends what day my period arrives. Was also told that the medicated version involves oestrogen tablets and then the same progesterone I was on before (daily injection and gel).

AnnieStar12 · 19/03/2024 15:48

@2024forthewin phew! glad you got the one. Understandably frustrating as that is a brutal drop off, if I remember right you still had 5 going on day 3? Just goes to show how anything can happen in IVF! Well I hope you can crack on with the FET and get it in you asap. What a relief you must have felt to be told there was still one in the running.

Can I ask do you know why you were put on progesterone injections rather than pesseries? I have to take 2 x pesseries each day so curious that yours is different.

@AnnieStar12@mlruirod@Steph2345@HopefulllHolly
thanks for the kindness ladies ❤️.
spotting hasn’t stopped at all today, just praying it’s some form of random, heavy implantation bleed but I feel like that can’t mean pregnancy.
have had cramping all day too - not really strong, but definitely there.

really hoping you’re all keeping ok during this process. Fingers crossed for all those little embryos developing and for those of us waiting.

I plan on having a very large Chinese takeaway this evening and binge watching some crime series on Netflix.

xxxx

mlruirod · 19/03/2024 16:22

Quick question, I am discharging pessaries and I'm not sure if it's an okay amount or too much. What would you say it's normal? I kind of filled a daily pad this morning. I'm starting to think that I should be inserting them in the backside to ensure it's all absorbed

AnnieStar12 · 19/03/2024 17:06

@IrisViolet ah bless you. I hope you find out for certain either way soon. Enjoy the Chinese.

@mlruirod i spoke to the doctor about this issue yesterday after my transfer as I had the same issue with lots coming out. A couple of days I even took an extra one as I was worried and thought better to have too much than not enough. The doctors advice was that your body absorbs what it needs to in half hour so as long as it’s not coming out in the first 30 mins then that’s fine. He said it’s just the wax that comes out after that. Also he said that inserting rectally absorbs better so less comes out that way. I tried that today and it’s defo less messy.

IrisViolet · 19/03/2024 17:39

@AnnieStar12 @mlruirod
My friend went through IVF last year and recommended doing them rectally the entire time, which I have, and I’ve not had any leakage at all - definitely think it’s a better option if you’re comfortable with it! Xx

Lucylaughing · 19/03/2024 17:47

@Capybara95 sorry about your negative. I agree that you're not definitely out yet but I can totally see why you're so disappointed. Fingers crossed for you

@IrisViolet how are you doing? Hoping you're also not out. Hope you hear back from the clinic. When is your official test day?

@mlruirod 10 fertilised is a good number! And hopefully a couple more might catch up?

Cathycatcat · 19/03/2024 17:54

Just catching up on all the messages ladies.

@mlruirod amazing news! Congrats on the 10!! And yeah the pessaries are messy vaginally, but my body didn’t like them rectally. Lying down for 30 mins after helps and it should have all absorbed by then.

@2024forthewin glad you have the one frostie. Hopefully your body can rest up and then be all ready for the FET soon.

@Capybara95 hope you’re doing alright and it’s just a false negative.

@IrisViolet sorry to hear about the bleeding. Sending positive thoughts your way and Chinese takeaway sounds absolutely fab!

I’ve been trying to stay off my phone today and rest but finding it hard to do nothing so I checked I had my bags all packed. At least there’s something to distract me. Day 6 update was good news. The second embryo caught up shortly after we left yesterday so they froze that one. The third was still not doing much so that’s gone.

@AnnieStar12 all 5 embryos actually made it to today (day 6) but majority weren’t suitable for freezing. I assume the progesterone injection is standard practice at my clinic, but I haven’t queried it. I have had a mc so not sure if that was a consideration.

IrisViolet · 19/03/2024 19:47

@Lucylaughing we’re back now, but feeling crap as I’ve just passed red and clots 💔.
official test day is 27th but I don’t see the point in prolonging my agony - may just test tomorrow. Hope you’re ok lovely xxx

Lucylaughing · 19/03/2024 22:07

@IrisViolet I'm so sorry. Yes I totally see what you mean about just wanting to know one way or the other. Sending you lots of good thoughts

Steph2345 · 20/03/2024 09:29

@IrisViolet I’m so sorry to hear this. How are you doing?

mlruirod · 20/03/2024 10:11

@IrisViolet I'm so sorry, I hope you are ok

IrisViolet · 20/03/2024 10:32

@Lucylaughing @Steph2345 @mlruirod really sad. I think I just feel so angry as well as there’s nothing wrong with either of us. Just don’t understand why it’s not happening for us. Xxx

potatosconelover · 20/03/2024 11:09

Hello! I had ICSI for the first time in January and am approaching 12 weeks pregnant. I'm still stunned it worked.
I felt like none of it made sense until we were in it. Then it was very routine - wake up, do injections, go about day, go to appointments, adjust injections and so on. So if you're feeling overwhelmed and like it's all vague before you start - I did too. Don't worry, it makes sense once you're in it.
A very practical tip - get an ice pack to ice your stomach before injections. A couple of them really did sting, but the ice pack made it fine.
I felt really tired and by the time egg retrieval came around I was mostly lying on the couch - I know not everyone feels that exhausted, but if you can organise life and work with that in mind (not everybody has the option), then do so.
If you can arrange for the day off on and after egg retrieval that's a good idea. I was a bit uncomfortable.
Also, the drugs made me constipated throughout so invest in some senokot!
Good luck to everyone!!!

potatosconelover · 20/03/2024 11:10

And for those of you who've had disappointing news so far - I'm really sorry, look after yourself. X

@IrisViolet did your full period come?
I hear you, it's just so frustrating when there is nothing clearly wrong as there is nothing you can do to fix it. IVF is a process of trial an error sadly, so often it can take many goes. Does your clinic offer some counselling or someone you could talk too? It's a lot to deal with- sending you strength xx

HopefulllHolly · 20/03/2024 14:19

Really hope you’re ok @IrisViolet, look after yourself xx

IrisViolet · 20/03/2024 15:48

@mlruirod no it’s not a full period, but they say clots isn’t a good sign. Just breathing through the next week now until the official test day but I am 99.9% that it’s going to be negative. Trying to think about how lucky we are to have Frosties.
@HopefulllHolly thank you lovely. You too ❤️

mlruirod · 20/03/2024 17:33

@IrisViolet I'll have my fingers crossed for you that this bleeding will go away soon 🤞
Did you tell your clinic to check their thoughts on it?

Lucylaughing · 20/03/2024 19:04

@IrisViolet it is so disappointing. We're unexplained as well. Sometimes I wonder if it would be easier if we knew the reason we can't conceive, but I'm not sure it would really

Fingers crossed one of those frosties will be your BFP finally, if this transfer doesn't work out x

IrisViolet · 21/03/2024 09:15

@mlruirod thanks hun. Me too. Still going today… they said unless it’s a bright red heavy flow then I have to wait until my test date. But I usually spot for a week before my period so this is bang on time for that :(. We’ll see. Xx

@Lucylaughing it’s the pits, isn’t it? No clarification kills me. I’m a self confessed control freak, so this situ is super difficult - I’m sending you a hug hug.
I really hope we manage to get there. How are things with you? Xxx
